Batik is the nation's cultural heritage which functions as a formal attire as well as a medium for delivering non-verbal messages to users. Indonesia is recognized by UNESCO as the owner of batik culture. Currently, there is an innovation about cold wax that can be used for batik, where the results are as good as hot wax batik and more environmentally friendly. This community service activity raised the theme of cold wax batik training for the Cakra Borneo community in Bakungan Village, Loa Janan District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan. This activity was organized with partners, namely Borneo Craft Indonesia, batik craftsmen who will help transfer knowledge about cold wax batik. Through this training, participants are able to improve their abilities in producing East Kalimantan batik works that will make city branding a candidate for the capital city of Indonesia.

The abundantly harvested dragon fruit has encouraged the people at Batuah Village to make secondary product, in order to avoiding loss because the fruit is rotten, such as the dragon fruit crackers. Nowdays, the product has already marketed in the Mercure-Ibis Samarinda hotel chain. For the purpose it is considered important for the products to have good packaging. Therefore, the community service team do the coaching on how to make basic packaging design. The coaching trainee is taught on how to make packaging design from existed packaging pattern and then adjust it to the size of their products. The trainee was also taught on how to make simple design with design software. The results are that the trainee can make packaging design which the design and size are already adjusted with their product’s needs.

The economy of Salo Palai Village local communities, Muara Badak District, Kutai Kertanegara Regency, relies on plantations, livestock and marine and land fisheries. One of the superior plantation products in Salo Palai Village is pepper commodity. However, there are problems faced including the method of processing pepper is traditional, lack of technology and does not consider quality and cleanliness standards. To reach the world market, it is necessary to pay attention to the quality requirements and consumer tastes. For this reason, the community service aims to improve the quality of pepper in terms of post-harvest processing through assistance in the use of pepper grinders in order to produce pepper powder that provides added value and meets established quality standards. This community service is carried out with workshops covering technology transfer and assistance in the use of pepper grinders, which are expected to open new knowledge and skills for farmers. The results obtained that the local community of Salo Palai Village were able to operate a pepper grinder and were able to produce pepper powder in accordance with the quality standards.

Semakin banyaknya industri kreatif di bidang kaos merupakan wadah aspirasi masyarakat dalam mengungkapkan simbol-simbol sosial yang ada di masyarakat. Salah satunya adalah desain kaos produksi Dagadu Djogja yang menjual contain Yogyakarta yang sarat akan simbol-simbol sosial. Diakui bahwa adanya kaos Dagadu Djogja mampu meningkatkan pariwisata juga meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat Yogyakarta. Kalimantan khususnya Samarinda belum banyak usaha kreatif serupa, sehingga dapat mengenalkan budaya dan wisata lokal Kalimantan. Mengadopsi konsep Unique Selling Proposition dalam desain kaos yang mengangkat budaya Kalimantan, maka diadakan pelatihan pengembangan desain kaos bagi masyarakat khususnya bagi remaja yang putus sekolah.

Jenjang pendidikan SMK merupakan salah satu pendidikan vokasi di tingkat menengah atas yang mengajarkan keahlian bagi siswanya sesuai kompetensi yang sudah ditentukan. Dengan demikian, pendidikan SMK mempersiapkan siswanya untuk memiliki keterampilan dan keahlian yang siap kerja dikarenakan proses belajar prakteknya yang lebih banyak dibanding teori. Program studi Teknik Bisnis Konstruksi dan Properti (TBKP) merupakan salah satu bidang keahlian yang ada di SMK. Dalam hal ini materi yang salah diajarkan salah satunya adalah menggambar produk. Oleh karena itu, ada beberapa materi belajar menggambar dan membuat produk diantaranya konstruksi perkayuan dan mebel. Dengan pertimbangan inilah perlu bagi Program Studi Desain Produk Kayu dan Serat melaksanakan kegiatan di prodi ini karena dianggap disiplin ilmunya ada kesamaan dan kesesuaian, sehingga dapat dikenalkan lebih dini kepada siswa SMK khususnya prodi TBKP terkait pengetahuan proses desain mebel. Melalui hasil dari kegiatan ini, siswa mengetahui dan mengenal proses dari mendesain mebel yang baik, mulai dari proses perencanaan desain hingga pembuatan produk, yang mana dapat pula dijadikan bekal untuk berkarya di dunia industry permebelan.

Teacher competence, especially in the field of digital technology and the development of teaching materials for early childhood education, is very much needed at this time. Tunas Rimba 1 Kindergarten teachers are required to try to find opportunities to take part in training both organized by the government and the private sector. For the Samarinda State Polytechnic Design Department, it is important to provide additional skills regarding the use of digital technology to Tunas Rimba 1 Samarinda Kindergarten teachers to support their teaching. In this case, use the Canva application to create teaching materials that can be presented both visually and audioly so that young children will easily like them. The method of implementing the training begins with an introduction to Canva, practicing the application of Canva in learning, giving assignments and evaluating the designs made by kindergarten teachers. From the results of the Canva design application training activities to support teaching for Tunas Rimba 1 Kindergarten Teachers in Samarinda, it showed a significant improvement, marked by the high level of positive and enthusiastic responses from participants towards the training.

Salo Palai Village is experiencing significant growth in new Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), particularly in the culinary sector. However, management practices are still conventional. Therefore, this community service aims to enhance the skills of MSMEs, especially in promotional media design and financial reporting. The activities involve lectures and hands-on practice. As a result of this training, all participants can now operate Corel Draw for promotional media design and are proficient in creating simple financial reports to monitor business performance.

Lembaga pemasyarakatan merupakan salah satu lembaga yang berperan dalam hal pengayoman terhadap warga binaan agar dapat memperbaiki dan membentuk jati diri yang berguna. Hak-hak warga binaan dapat dipenuhi melalui program-program pembinaan yang dilakukan oleh lembaga pemasyarakatan di mana para warga binaan tersebut berada, namun juga dapat dilakukan oleh lembaga/instansi lain. Keterlibatan lembaga/instansi lain dalam program pembinaan kepada warga binaan sangat diperlukan, karena jika terbatas dilakukan oleh lembaga pemasyarakatan, masih belum dapat mengakomodir kebutuhan yang lebih luas. Kekosongan ini dapat dilengkapi dengan bantuan dari lembaga/instansi lain. Oleh karena itu diperlukan adanya program kemitraan antara lembaga pemasyarakatan dengan lembaga/instansi lain agar dapat berpartisipasi dalam memberikan kegiatan-kegiatan yang berupa pembinaan kepada warga binaan lembaga pemasyarakatan. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat dengan tema Pelatihan Kewirausahaan Sablon bagi Warga Binaan Pemasyarakatan Lapas Kelas IIA Samarinda diharapkan menjadi suatu upaya untuk memberikan pengetahuan wirausaha sablon bagi Warga Binaan Pemasyarakatan (WBP) Lembaga Pemasyarakatan Kelas IIA Samarinda. Diharapkan pelatihan ini dapat membekali WBP setelah nantinya mereka kembali ke Masyarakat.

One of the crucial factors in Indonesia’s National Industrial Development Master Plan 2015 - 2035 is enhancing human resources skills and creativity in producing wood/rattan handicrafts. Aesthetic factors are the main requirements for these products due to their cultural and artistic value. In determining the direction of the innovations, it is necessary to understand the product’s development, especially in this regard. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the aesthetic factors used in developing rattan bag handicraft products using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, guided by Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA). The SLR was conducted based on the journal and proceedings obtained through the Science Direct, Google Scholar, and Springer databases. The contribution of this study was to find aesthetic factors considered for the development of bag product innovation. The results showed that six aesthetic factors were applied in developing rattan bag products: materials, motifs, ethnic/culture, shapes, patterns, and colors.

Salo Palai Village is one of the villages in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan. Salo Palai Village has several garden products such as pepper and other processed garden products such as banana chips, fruit syrup and so on. With garden products and processed garden products, this village has the potential to be able to develop the welfare of its community through MSMEs from several of these products. As an MSME business that continues to grow, good packaging and calculating the selling price of MSME products are things that should be considered in attracting and introducing their products to consumers in order to increase the value and number of sales of their products. By conducting lecture methods and direct training to participants, it will have a direct impact on them on how to design good packaging and promotions for MSMEs. Thus, community service activities in the field of design and promotion through financial calculations for product sales are expected to be an effort to provide an understanding of the importance of increasing sales value.
