Abstract

This study aims to find out whether science teachers have used digital literacy assessment instruments and science process skills on simple machine material and to know whether students have assessed digital literacy abilities and science process skills on simple machine material. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. The sample used in this study was one of the eighth grade science teachers and 5 eighth grade students at SMPN 7 Muaro Jambi. The research instrument used was an interview sheet, with a semi-structured interview type. The data analysis used is qualitative data analysis using Miles and Huberman. The results of this study are that teachers have not used digital literacy assessment instruments and science process skills on simple plane material. Therefore, an instrument for assessing digital literacy skills and science process skills in simple machine materials is needed so that students' digital literacy abilities and science process skills in simple machine material can be measured properly. From the results of this study it can be interpreted that the instruments for assessing digital literacy and science process skills in simple plane material have not been used by science teachers at SMPN 7 Muaro Jambi.

Abstract

The rapid development of the world of education requires students to have critical thinking skills and scientific process skills in order to be able to face various problems in everyday life. This study aims to analyze the effect of critical thinking skills on scientific process skills on the subject of material elasticity and Hooke's law. The type of research used in this study is associative quantitative research. The population used was all students with a sample of 30 grade XI students. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The research instruments used were essay tests and observation sheets. The data analysis technique used was descriptive statistical tests, the assumption test was the normality test and linearity test, and the hypothesis test was a simple linear regression test. The results of the descriptive statistical test showed that the critical thinking skills of students in each State High School were different, as well as the science process skills of students in each State High School were also different. The results of the normality test showed that the data was normally distributed with sig. > 0.05, then the results of the linearity test showed linear data with sig. > 0.05, and the results of the simple linear regression test showed that there was an influence between critical thinking skills and science process skills with a sig. < 0.05. So, it can be concluded that critical thinking skills influence scientific process skills in material elasticity and Hooke's law.

Abstract

Inquiry learning model is one of the choices, to be applied in the teaching and learning process in physics subjects. The problem that arises is the limited or lack of application of the inquiry learning model in learning activities. The purpose of this research is to find out what students' attitudes and character are, and to find out the effect of implementing the inquiry learning model on students' attitudes and character. This type of research is quantitative research with associative and comparative research types. The research sample was students of class XI Science at high school level which consisted of two classes, each class consisting of 26 students. The sampling technique used in this research is purposive sampling technique. The research instrument is a questionnaire in the form of statements, the questionnaire uses a Likert scale. In this research there are three questionnaires, namely a student response questionnaire to the inquiry learning model, a student attitude questionnaire and a student character questionnaire in physics learning. Quantitative data analysis techniques in this research consist of descriptive statistical tests and inferential statistical tests. The findings show that the inquiry learning model can influence students' attitudes and character for the better.

Abstract

Although Natural Science (IPA) has become an integral part of the curriculum at the junior high school level, there are several gaps in learning practices in the field that need attention. One of the main gaps is related to applying generic science skills in the teaching-learning process. This study investigates the relationship and influence between science generic skills and the perseverance of junior high school students in learning science. This study belongs to the quantitative research category that uses descriptive and inferential statistical analysis methods with Pearson correlation and Regression tests. The research sample consisted of 52 seventh-grade students at the junior high school level, selected using random sampling. The data collection methods used were observation and questionnaires. The data collection instruments included an observation sheet with a Likert scale of 4 for students' science generic skills and a questionnaire with a Likert scale 5 for students' learning perseverance. Data analysis techniques in this study used a quantitative approach consisting of descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The findings showed a significant correlation between science generic skills and students' learning perseverance in both schools. So, it can be concluded that the higher the students' generic science skills, the higher the level of their perseverance in learning science. In addition, science generic skills influence students' learning perseverance. The implications of this study are very relevant for developing science education at the junior high school level.

Abstract

The formulation of the research problem is that the lack of character education for students can cause a moral crisis which results in negative behaviour in society. The research objective was to analyze the character values of class X students in learning vector material physics. This type of research is a qualitative method in the form of a document study. The subject of the study was the book of a high school physics teacher in class X 2013 curriculum on vector material. The research data collection technique is a literature study by analyzing the teacher's book. The results showed that the character values of class X students in learning vector material physics can shape the students' self-character so that they become moral, noble, tolerant, tough, and well-behaved individuals. So, it can be said that the character values that the teacher instils in students still have a number of characters that are not contained in class X vector material so that there are negative short-term and long-term impacts on students. In conclusion, the teacher has an important role in instilling character values in students through learning vector material physics. There are several character values that are not stated, in the future the researchers hope that educators will apply the 18-character values in vector material physics learning to make it more effective.

Abstract

Character education is everything the teacher does to influence the character of students. The teacher helps shape student behavior by giving examples, how to speak or deliver good material, and various other related things. This study aims to explore character values in physics learning in the materials of momentum, impulse, and collision. The method used is qualitative with a type of documentation study research. The instrument used by researchers is to collect books, both softbooks/hardbooks, as well as related literature. This research shows the results that in class X there are several characters that are not applied by students during the learning process, this is because in the learning process students are not directed to these character values, of course it will have a negative impact on students because it will affect the student learning process. as well as social moments in the student's environment. The research recommendation is that it is hoped that in the future the character values of students will be more refined so that they can build and produce a better generation. The urgency of this research is that during learning the teacher can add characters that are not yet in the teacher's book so that character education for students can fulfill character values.

Abstract

Science process skills are one of the skills that can develop potential in students. Science process skills refer to cognitive and psychomotor aspects, so as to create a meaningful learning based on student experience. Digital literacy abilities and students' science process skills are rarely considered in the learning process, so an analysis is needed to determine students' digital literacy skills and science process skills. This study aims to analyze the relationship between digital literacy skills and science process skills in simple plane materials. The research method used is a mixed method with an explanatory design. The research subjects used were 24 students. The research instruments were digital literacy questionnaires, science process skills observation sheets, and interview sheets. Data analysis techniques used quantitative data analysis and qualitative data analysis. The results of the Pearson correlation test showed that there was a significant relationship between digital literacy skills and students' science process skills in simple plane material. The researcher hopes that further research can determine the relationship based on gender.

Abstract

In this digital era, digital literacy has become an inseparable skill in the learning process. However, digital literacy is also closely related to students' disciplinary character. This study investigates the relationship between digital literacy and students' disciplinary character in junior high schools, especially in the context of dynamic electricity learning in physics subjects. This study aims to identify how much digital literacy plays a role in developing students' disciplinary character. This research method is a quantitative study with a correlational design. Data were collected using a validated Digital Literacy and Disciplinary Character questionnaire from 100 grade VIII students. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive, normality, linearity, and correlation tests. The study's main results found a significant positive correlation between digital literacy and disciplinary character, with digital literacy explaining 42% of the variation in disciplinary character. This study concludes that higher digital literacy significantly develops students' disciplinary character. These results indicate the importance of integrating digital literacy into the school curriculum to improve technical skills while developing students' disciplinary character. Further research is recommended to explore other factors, such as family environment and school policies, that may influence students' disciplinary character.
