Abstract

This study aims at determining inclusive growth and exploring the relationship between inclusive growth, educational attainment and morbidity rate in Papua province. This is due to the fact that Papua Province with special autonomy status attempts to catch up with economic growth from other provinces and increases income equity by focusing on education and health. This study exploits Social Mobility Curve (SMC) and Panel VAR to comprehend inclusive growth and determine the reciprocal relationship between Social Mobility Index, average years of schooling and morbidity rate in Papua Province in 2011-2016. Based on the results, there was economic growth in Papua Province which was still accompanied by an increase in income disparity, thus, it could be concluded that economic growth in Papua was still not inclusive. Regarding the results of the Panel VAR, there was no reciprocal relationship between the three variables with education and health having a positive and significant effect on inclusive growth. The positive influence of education and health is probably due to individual productivity and globalization factors. To increase inclusive growth, Papua Province is advised to improve student education so that later students most likely be more productive and get better jobs and salaries.

Abstract

Organizing the 18th Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia, specifically in DKI Jakarta, South Sumatra, West Java, and Banten spent a large amount of state and regional budget (APBN and APBD), which was more than Rp10 trillion in the 2018 fiscal year. The government policy to host the mega event and expend a large amount of budget in terms of government consumption and investment was expected to have an impact on the Indonesian economy, both directly and indirectly. Thus, this study aims to identify the impact of government expenditure using the 2010 Input-Output table issued and updated by the Central Bureau of Statistics in July 2019 with 17 sectors. The study found that the multiplier effect on the economy is greater than government expenditure with the manufacturing sector being the most affected sector by government spending with a value of six point seven trillion rupiah. In addition to the multiplier effect, this study also calculates the estimated Value Added Tax of government spending. The result of the estimated Value Added Tax potential is one point sixty one trillion rupiah. It can be concluded that the Asian Games 2018 brought positive impact on economy and government revenue in the form of taxation.

Abstract

Abstract- In the recent years, fashion brands and retailers in the West have introduced supplier’s codes of conduct to strengthen international labour standards in their supply chain. Village funds have been allocated since 2015, and increase overtime. In 2015, the allocation of village funds amounting to Rp.28.8 trillion increased to reach Rp60 trillion in 2018. Village funds were used to finance government administration, implementation of development, community development, and community empowerment. This research uses the difference-in-difference (DID) which is adapted to continuous treatment method to analyze the impact of village funds on the work of rural communities. The analysis uses "repeated" cross section data from SUSENAS 2012-2017. We found that an increase in village fund per capita was more likely to raise the labor hours in agriculture and service industries, primarily on non-Java islands. The recommendation of this study is the need for regulation to standardize the proportion of village funds allocation based on the demographic (or number of poor people) and geographical (land area) conditions of the regions. Moreover, increasing the effectiveness of organizational management can be implemented by increasing the capacity of village officials.
