Abstract

This analysis examines Ernest Hemingway's classic novel, The Old Man and the Sea, through the lens of the self-confident profile portrayed by the protagonist, Santiago. The study delves into the themes of perseverance, man versus nature, isolation, and pride to unravel Santiago's unwavering self-assurance in the face of adversity. Through an exploration of the novel's characters, including Santiago and his young apprentice Manolin, as well as the symbolic representation of the marlin and the sea, the analysis reveals the nuances of Santiago's self-confidence and its impact on his actions and relationships. Additionally, the study investigates Hemingway's literary techniques, such as symbolism, imagery, minimalism, and stream of consciousness, to highlight how they contribute to the portrayal of Santiago's self-assured nature. Drawing on critical essays, scholarly articles, and comparative studies, the research contextualizes the self-confident profile within the broader scope of Hemingway's works and provides a comprehensive understanding of the character's development throughout the narrative. By shedding light on Santiago's resilience, dignity, and the internal strength he draws from his experiences, Reader-Response Criticism analysis offers valuable insights into the profound exploration of self-confidence and its significance in The Old Man and the Sea.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis menu All day di room service Hotel Le Meridien Bali Jimbaran berdasarkan Pendekatan Cost Margin Analysis (CMA). Pendekatan Cost Margin Analysis (CMA) merupakan pendekatan yang menekankan pengendalian margin kontribusi dan harga pokok makanan. Tujuan penelitian ini : 1) Untuk mengetahui klasifikasi all day menu di room service Hotel Le Meridien Bali Jimbaran berdasarkan pendekatan Cost Margin Analisis (CMA). 2) Untuk mengetahui upaya-upaya yang dilakukan untuk meningkatkan margin kontribusi all day menu di room service Hotel Le Meridien Bali Jimbaran. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara, dokumentasi dan observasi. Teknik analisis berupa deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan Cost Margin Analysis (CMA) dan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa dari 28 item menu terdapat 7 item menu berkategori prime, 3 item menu berkategori standards, 8 item menu berkategori sleepers dan 10 item menu berkategori problems. Upaya berikutnya yang harus dilakukan untuk meningkatkan margin kontribusi all day menu di room service Hotel Le Meridien Bali Jimbaran adalah mempertahankan kualitas makanan, menekan harga pokok makanan, meningkatkan promosi dan mengembangkan menu baru.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Improving room cleaning service quality is a key factor in creating an optimal guest experience and enhancing customer satisfaction in the hotel industry. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of checkout room cleaning procedure training on the performance of housekeeping employees at Hyatt Regency Bali. The research employed a quantitative approach using a saturated sampling technique, in which all 53 housekeeping employees were included as respondents. The research stages comprised the development of research instruments in the form of questionnaires, validity and reliability testing, data collection through questionnaire distribution, and data analysis using simple linear regression to examine the effect of training on employee performance. The results indicate that training has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Well-structured and practical training enhances employees’ understanding and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for room cleaning, thereby improving service quality and visitor satisfaction. These findings imply the necessity of continuous training programs supported by hands-on practice, performance evaluation, and intensive mentoring to strengthen technical competencies and to establish a consistent and superior destination image. ABSTRAK Peningkatan kualitas pelayanan kamar (service quality) merupakan faktor kunci dalam menciptakan pengalaman menginap yang optimal dan kepuasan tamu hotel. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pelatihan prosedur pembersihan kamar checked out terhadap kinerja karyawan housekeeping di Hyatt Regency Bali. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode sampling jenuh, di mana seluruh populasi yang berjumlah 53 karyawan housekeeping dijadikan responden. Tahapan penelitian meliputi penyusunan instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner, pengujian validitas dan reliabilitas, pengumpulan data melalui penyebaran kuesioner, serta analisis data menggunakan regresi linier sederhana untuk menguji pengaruh variabel pelatihan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Pelatihan yang terstruktur dan aplikatif mampu meningkatkan pemahaman serta penerapan standar operasional prosedur (SOP) pembersihan kamar, sehingga berdampak pada peningkatan mutu layanan dan kepuasan pengunjung (visitor satisfaction). Temuan ini mengimplikasikan perlunya pelatihan berkelanjutan yang dilengkapi dengan praktik langsung, evaluasi kinerja, serta pendampingan intensif guna memperkuat kompetensi teknis karyawan dan membentuk citra destinasi (destination image) yang unggul dan konsisten.
