Abstract

Breast milk is the best food for babies. Only 54% of babies aged 0-6 months receive exclusive breastfeeding in Carangsari Village. Failure to breastfeed occurs because mothers lack confidence in being able to breastfeed. The program aims to increase the breastfeeding self-efficacy of pregnant women through a breastfeeding preparation program integrated into the Kelas Ibu program. The community service method is advocacy and socialization to local leaders, preparation of a breastfeeding preparation program plan and implementation of the program for pregnant women. The community service was carried out in 2024 in Carangsari Village, Petang District, Badung Regency-Bali. Program evaluation was carried out by assessing breastfeeding self-efficacy before and after program implementation. The results of the community service were: 1) The breastfeeding preparation program integrated into the Kelas Ibu Program received support from the local leader and community; 2) The breastfeeding preparation program plan was realized in the form of a Breastfeeding Preparation Class Learning Plan and trained facilitators; 3) After the implementation of the breastfeeding preparation program, there was an increase in the breastfeeding self-efficacy of pregnant women. The implementation of the integrated breastfeeding preparation program in the Kelas Ibu Program can be continued to increase the success of providing exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Postpartum hemorrhage constitutes 40% of the predominant etiologies of maternal mortality in Indonesia. Perineal lacerations precipitate secondary hemorrhaging. The weight of the neonate may influence the second stage of labor. An increase in fetal weight correlates with an elevated risk of perineal laceration. The objective of this study was to examine the correlation between neonatal birth weight and the prevalence of perineal lacerations during vaginal delivery at the Bali Royal General Hospital in 2023. This investigation employed a correlation analytical research design utilizing a cross-sectional approach. A total sample of 256 participants was obtained through comprehensive sampling. Secondary data were extracted from the electronic medical record system (e-RM). Data analysis was conducted using Spearman's rank correlation coefficient. The findings indicated that the majority of perineal lacerations were classified as grade 2, affecting 196 individuals (79.4%), with the predominant occurrence in the normal birth weight category, which encompassed 234 subjects (94.7%). Notably, the majority of infants with normal birth weight experienced grade 2 lacerations, amounting to 192 individuals (98%), while infants born with higher weights exhibited grade 3 lacerations, totaling 11 individuals (78.6%), thus indicating a significant association with the incidence of perineal lacerations during vaginal delivery. It is imperative for expectant mothers to ensure the maintenance of fetal weight to avert excessive neonatal birth weight.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the antidiabetic effects of CERSENLAU Sugar (Cherry Kersen & Telang Ungu) on the histological of the pancreas of diabetic rats. Method: The type of research used is purely experimental with a pre-post test control group design. The subject of the study was a male white Wistar rat (Rattus Norvegicus) aged 2-3 months and weighing an average weight of between 150-200 grams. On this plan the subject was randomized and then divided into 2 groups that is normal control and treatment group consisting of 4 subgroups namely: 1. The group diabetes was given commercial sugar diabetes and 3 diabetes groups were given CERSENLAU Sugar with different levels (100 mg/kg Body Weight; 200 mg/ kg Body Weight; 400 mg/Kg Body Weight). Each group consisted of six test animals. The total number of test animals was 30. Kruskall Wallis test to determine the significant differences between the treatment group and the control group with a p-value < 0.05 selected as the degree of significance. Results: CERSENLAU Sugar (Cherry Kersen Telang Ungu) contains phenols (86.63 mg), flavonoids (48.72), vitamin C (45,76 mg/100 ml), sugar (1,11%), anthocyanin (1,64 mg/100ml) and fiber (1,51%). Based on the results of the observations of the histopathology preparation of the pancreatic rat and the analysis carried out, it was proved that the administration of Cersenlau affected the histopathology figure of the pancreas of rats induced by alloxan. But at doses of 200 mg/kg Body Weight and 400 mg/ kg Body Weight, the effect is not very good compared to the dose of 100 mg/kg Body Weight which has a better effect. Conclusion: CERSENLAU Sugar (Cherry Kersen & Telang Ungu) repairs damage to pancreatic beta cells in mice with diabetes mellitus and affects pancreatic tissue regeneration as seen from the level of damage to pancreatic beta cells in animal models of diabetes.

Abstract

Abstract: Immunization is an effort to increase the body's immunity to disease. In Puskesmas Selat in 2023, measles booster immunization coverage reached 91.27% and DPT booster 92.46% for children aged 25-30 months. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of maternal knowledge about follow-up immunization and the immunization status of children aged 25-30 months at Puskesmas Selat. The study used a cross-sectional method with a sample of mothers who had children aged 25-30 months. Data was collected in September-November 2024 through questionnaires and MCH book, using random sampling technique. A total of 65.9% of respondents had good knowledge, while 34.1% were less good. Complete immunization status was found in 78% of respondents, while 22% were incomplete. Chi-square analysis showed a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and immunization status (p<0.001). In conclusion, there is a relationship between maternal knowledge about follow-up immunization and immunization status of children aged 25-30 months. It is hoped that further education can improve maternal knowledge and encourage complete immunization.

Abstract

Introduction: Preterm birth occurs in 7-10% of all live births, leading to complications such as low birth weight, asphyxia, hypothermia, and hypoglycemia, which increase the risk of neonatal death. This research aims to prove the influence of maternal factors (age, occupation, marital status, gravida, hypertension) and conception results (number of fetuses and ruptured membranes) on preterm birth. Method: This correlational research, using a cross-sectional approach, was conducted at Prof. Ngoerah Hospital, Bali, in 2021. The study population included all women who gave birth in 2020, fully recorded in medical records, with a total sample size of 997 women, obtained through total sampling. Data were analyzed using crosstabulation, Chi-square test (X²), and binary logistic regression with computer assistance, setting significance at α 0.05. Results: Preterm birth was significantly influenced by maternal age (p=0.001), occupation (p=0.001), blood pressure (p=0.000), and the condition of the amniotic membranes (p=0.000). These factors collectively contributed to 22.7% of the variance in preterm births. Conclusion: Maternal factors such as age, occupation, blood pressure, and amniotic membrane condition significantly influence the incidence of preterm birth. Preventive measures, focusing on education before and during pregnancy, are crucial to reducing the risk of preterm births.
