Abstract

Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) is a common sanitizer and decomposer that can be harmful if eaten, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin. Herbal plants can be used as therapeutic treatment to counteract the effects of these dangerous drugs. Palm fruit (Arenga pinata Merr) is one of them. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of administering palm fruit extract on the number of erythrocytes, leukocytes, hemoglobin and platelets in white rats induced by carbon tetrachloride. This study used a completely randomized design with 20 mice divided into 5 treatment groups. Negative controls were given food, drink and 1 ml/kg BW olive oil, positive controls were given 1 ml/kg BW carbon tetrachloride and olive oil with a ratio of 1:3. Treatments 1, 2 and 3 were given carbon tetrachloride 1ml/kg BW and olive oil with a ratio of 1:3 and given ethanol extract of palm fruit at different doses (P1= 90 mg/kg BB, P2= 180 mg/kg BB, P3= 360 mg/kg BB) for 15 days. The results obtained include that the ethanol extract of palm fruit has a very significant effect on erythrocytes, hemoglobin, leukocytes and platelets with a P value = 0.000 and the average value of erythrocytes (7.66 µl), hemoglobin (13.45 g/dl), leukocytes (15 .34 µl), platelets (895.25 mm²). The optimal dose of palm fruit extract to counteract and improve the number of erythrocytes, hemoglobin, leukocytes and platelets is a dose of 360 mg/kg BB.

Abstract

One substance that produces radical compounds is carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). As a solvent, insecticide, coolant, stain remover, and soap, carbon tetrachloride is widely used. Direct skin contact, ingestion, inhalation, and eye contact are ways this material enters the body. The antioxidants found in palm fruit (Arenga pinnata Merr.) can help protect against damage caused by free radicals. This study aims to determine how giving ethanol extract of palm fruit (Arenga pinnata Merr.) to white rats (Rattus norvegicus L.) affects creatinine, urea levels and kidney histology when exposed to carbon tetrachloride (CCl4).This study used a completely randomized design with 20 mice divided into 5 treatment groups. Negative controls were given food, drink and 1 ml/kg BW olive oil, positive controls were given 1 ml/kg BW carbon tetrachloride and olive oil with a ratio of 1:3. Treatments 1, 2 and 3 were given carbon tetrachloride 1ml/kg BW and olive oil with a ratio of 1:3 and given ethanol extract of palm fruit at different doses (P1= 90 mg/kg BW, P2= 180 mg/kg BW, P3= 360 mg/kg BW) for 16 days. The results obtained include that ethanol extract of palm fruit has a very significant effect on creatinine, urea and kidney histology. The optimal dose of palm fruit ethanol extract to improve kidney is a 360 mg/kg BW.

Abstract

Shrimp head flour is processed from shrimp processing waste and used as an alternative feed that has a fairly high nutritional content. While mung bean flour is processed from the main ingredient of mung beans that have been semi-processed which have a fairly high vegetable protein content. The purpose of this study was to see whether the provision of additional feed of mung bean flour (Vigna radiata L.) and shrimp head flour affects the weight and protein content of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). The design used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments on 20 tilapia. P0 = 100% commercial feed, P1 = 75% commercial feed, 20% shrimp head flour, and 5% mung bean flour, P2 = 50% commercial feed, 40% shrimp head flour, 10% mung bean flour, P3 = 25% commercial feed, 60% shrimp head flour, 15% mung bean flour. This study used two parameters, namely the weight of tilapia produced and the protein content of tilapia. Data analysis using one way ANOVA and continued with Duncan's further test. The results obtained in the addition of additional feed of green bean flour and shrimp head flour had a significant effect on the protein content of tilapia with a value of 15.26 (p = 0.000). The results of green bean flour affected the growth of tilapia weight with a value of 13.6% (p = 0.000). The most optimal feed in increasing the protein content and body weight of tilapia was in group P3.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the comparison of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model with the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) learning model on learning outcomes in respiratory system material in class XI SMA Negeri 2 Kota Pinang. This research is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental type of research. With a population of all class Using samples XI IPA-1 as experimental class I and XI IPA-2 as experimental class II. The instrument in this research uses a multiple choice form of learning outcomes test. The data analysis technique uses the t test at the significance level α = 0.05. The results of posttest data hypothesis testing showed that the average score for Experimental Learning Model I (Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL)) = 83.3 and Experiment II (Numbered Heads Together (NHT)) = 76.7. Hypothesis testing comparing the respiratory system learning outcomes of students in Experiment I and Experiment II, obtained tcount (2.47) > ttable 2.048, then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.

Abstract

Using aspirin for long time make ulcer. Using traditional medicinal plants is alternative in treating gastric ulcers. This experiment aims to determine effect of kenikir leaves extract (Cosmos caudatus Kunth.) on gastric morphology and histology decription of male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by aspirin. 25 rats were divided into 5 groups, KN (control), KP (aspirin 200 mg/kgBW for 10 days), P1 (aspirin 200 mg/kgBW for 10 days + kenikir leaves extract 700 mg/kgBW for 14 days). ), P2 (aspirin 200 mg/kgBW for 10 days + kenikir leaves extract 800 mg/kgBW for 14 days), P3(aspirin 200 mg/kgBW for 10 days+kenikir leaves extract 900 mg/kgBW for 14 days). Parameters observed were morphological and histological of the gastric. Data were analyzed by oneway ANOVA test and continued with Duncan's test. The results kenikir leaves did not have a significant effect on the morphology but histologically, kenikir leaves extract had a significant effect by improving the thickness of gastric layer. It can be concluded that kenikir leaves extract can be used as an alternative to treat gastric ulcers because it can improve the thickness of gastric layer.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of ethanolic extract of gandaria fruit (Bouea macrophylla Griff.) on the lipid profile of male white rats (Rattus norvegicus L.) induced with carbon tetrachloride (CCl₄). The study highlights the potential hypolipidemic activity of the extract by measuring levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), and High Density Lipoprotein (HDL). A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was employed, involving 25 rats divided into five groups: negative control, positive control (CCl₄ without treatment), and three treatment groups administered the extract at doses of 100, 150, and 200 mg/kg body weight for 30 days. Data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed that the 200 mg/kg dose significantly reduced levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL, while the highest increase in HDL was observed at the 100 mg/kg dose. These findings also indicate that the ethanolic extract of Bouea macrophylla fruit exhibits dose-dependent hypolipidemic and antioxidant effects and has potential as a natural therapeutic candidate for improving lipid profile disorders caused by chemically induced liver damage.
