Abstract

Egg incubators are devices designed to create optimal conditions for eggs to hatch into chicks. Several important factors that must be considered in the egg incubator include temperature, humidity and air flow rate in the egg incubator chamber. Simulation of heat propagation and airflow rate in the hatchery was carried out using CFD software. The simulation results of heat propagation with a heating source above the egg rack obtained a maximum temperature of 312oK or the equivalent of 38.85o C which is right below the heater while the lowest temperature is 311°K or the equivalent of 37.85°C which is in the corner of the hatchery. The simulation results of the air flow rate with an air flow velocity of 1m/s obtained that the egg incubator with a heating source above the egg rack has an air flow rate in the hatchery space that is evenly distributed throughout the room so that the air can reach all the eggs in the hatchery room with a level hatching success of 80.5%.

Abstract

Drying is the process of removing water or separating a relatively small amount of water from a material using heat energy. One method of drying is through oven processing, which aims to reduce the moisture content in materials using an oven. This study aims to analyze the airflow rate in an oven using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation and to examine the effect of temperature variations on airflow rate using CFD simulation. The research method employed is experimental, with data collection techniques including descriptive analysis, involving experiments, simulation results, and documentation. The study found that the simulated airflow rate using Ansys R2 2020 varied with different temperatures. At 70℃, the air velocity ranged from 1.108 m/s to 4.432 m/s, while at 75℃, it ranged from 1.882 m/s to 11.29 m/s. Turbulence occurred at both temperatures, and higher temperatures resulted in faster airflow rates due to reduced air resistance. At 75℃, the crackers achieved optimal dryness, with a weight reduction of 95%. High temperatures can reduce air density which can increase air flow speed due to a decrease in resistance experienced by the air.

Abstract

Public bus drivers are at risk of health issues due to mechanical vibrations and non-ergonomic working postures during long working hours. This study analyzed vibration levels and ergonomic risks of Trans Jateng Corridor 4 bus drivers using an experimental method with an MPU6050 accelerometer sensor at three points: brake/clutch pedal, steering wheel, and driver’s seat at various operational speeds. Ergonomic assessment was conducted using the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) method with CATIA V5R20 software during two main work phases. Results showed the highest vibration level on the brake/clutch pedal (3.23 m/s²), still below the threshold limit of 5 m/s² for 6–8 hours of work as regulated by the Ministry of Manpower Decree No. 5/2018. The lowest vibrations were recorded on the steering wheel (0.79 m/s²) and driver’s seat (0.93 m/s²). A RULA score of 3 in both phases indicated a “low risk” category but required long-term preventive measures. Recommendations include the use of anti-vibration footwear, structured breaks every 90 minutes, and driver rotation with a maximum of 6 hours per shift to maintain optimal working conditions and prevent occupational health disorders.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of Automated Rubber Tyred Gantry (ARTG) as an alternative to manual RTG operations at the Semarang Container Terminal. The research focuses on productivity (boxes/hour), maintenance cost efficiency (IDR/month), and workplace safety (number of incidents). A descriptive quantitative case study was conducted from March to May 2025. Results show that ARTG improved productivity by 11.25%, reduced maintenance costs by 46.5%, and recorded zero incidents compared to four incidents with manual RTG. All differences were statistically significant (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that ARTG enhances operational efficiency and safety in port operations. Gradual implementation of ARTG is recommended, considering digital infrastructure readiness, human resource training, and policy support.

Abstract

This study aims to design and evaluate the performance of a prototype air quality monitoring device integrated with an exhaust fan in a vehicle testing room. The experimental method was employed to examine the relationship between variables. The increasing number of motor vehicles has an impact on air quality, particularly in emission testing areas. The device utilizes an MQ-7 sensor for gas detection and a DHT22 sensor for temperature and humidity, with data displayed in real time on an LCD screen. When the gas concentration exceeds nine ppm, the system activates an audible alarm and automatically turns on the exhaust fan to maintain air circulation. The exhaust fan expels hot air from the room while bringing in cooler outside air. Test results indicate that the device operates stably and provides accurate data, making it suitable as an air quality monitoring system in motor vehicle testing facilities.

Abstract

The temporary closure of the final disposal site (landfill) for 1–2 days during holidays causes waste accumulation, which has become a concern among residents. BUMDes Moroberkah's waste management still relies on manual open burning, resulting in air pollution and scattered combustion residues. This community service program aimed to provide a solution by implementing appropriate technology in the form of an incinerator machine. The program was conducted in two stages: on-site machine testing, followed by unit handover and training for BUMDes management. Test results showed that the incinerator operated optimally, with a waste-reduction capacity of about 25 kg/hour. The internal air circulation system and chimney design effectively reduced exhaust emissions, while the machine contained combustion residues, helping maintain environmental cleanliness. The program also improved the BUMDes management’s understanding of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for machine operation and maintenance. This program provides an independent, comprehensive, and environmentally friendly waste management solution.
