Abstract

Parenting in the household has an important role in shaping children's lives at a later stage. Parenting is a way of how parents educate, care for and love children. Parenting has several criteria that are distinguished from the child's own behavior. This study aims to relate the Hadith about fair parenting with a humanistic approach, especially in the context of Abu Dawud's narration index number 3544. The formulation of the problem involves an evaluation of the quality and quantity of the hadith on the recommendation of fair behavior, an in-depth study of the recommendation of fair behavior in the hadith, and an analysis of Abu Dawud's hadith number 3544 within the framework of the humanistic theory initiated by Abraham Maslow. The research method used is a qualitative method by applying the study of ma'anil hadith which is linked to Abraham Maslow's humanistic theory. The main sources of the research include the book of Sunan Abu Dawud, commentaries, the Qur'an, and related journals. The results show that firstly, Abu Dawud's hadith has a saheeh degree. Second, the interpretation of the hadith highlights the Prophet's recommendation for parents to be fair in parenting, especially between boys and girls. Third, the analysis of the hadith recommendation for fair behavior with Abraham Maslow's humanistic theory highlights the five hierarchies of human needs that support life from birth. The implementation of fair parenting between children is expected to prevent the emergence of social jealousy among them.

Abstract

Problems in interpreting the concept of the Qur'an have become a significant issue in the discourse of Islamic thought in the modern era. One of the figures who paid great attention to efforts to explore the meaning of the Qur'an is Farid Esack, who used hermeneutic studies as a tool of interpretation. In line with that, this study aims to analyze the study of liberation and justice for women using Farid Esack's hermeneutic thinking. This research uses a qualitative research method with Farid Esack's hermeneutic approach. The results show that the hermeneutics initiated by Farid Esack, namely liberation hermeneutics, uses critical reasoning that places revelation, reality, and interpretation in an interacting relationship. This approach aims to produce interpretations that are oriented towards liberation and justice. The application of Farid Esack's hermeneutics can be seen in his interpretation of women's liberation from oppression and injustice, especially in the context of divorce. One example is the introduction of the concept of iddah as mentioned in the Qur'an surah Al-Baqarah verse 228 and the relevant hadith. Esack explains that a wife is still entitled to receive maintenance from her husband during the iddah period. This concept can be used as a basis for analyzing current conditions through an Islamic hermeneutic approach.

Abstract

This study analyzes the urgency of drug abuse prevention in maintaining social security stability from the perspective of the Prophet's Hadith. Conventional legalistic and biomedical approaches, while necessary, have proven insufficient to address the moral and social dimensions of the phenomenon, leaving a significant gap in normative-religious analyses grounded directly in the prophetic tradition. To fill this gap, the present study employs a qualitative library-research design with descriptive analysis of secondary data, applying Syarḥ al-Ḥadīth al-Siyāqī (Contextual Hadith Commentary) as articulated by Yūsuf al-Qaraḍāwī integrating textual, historical, and contemporary dimensions to five selected hadiths from al-Kutub al-Sittah. The findings demonstrate that these five hadiths jointly articulate a comprehensive prevention paradigm in which drug abuse constitutes a tangible manifestation of ḍarar threatening the foundations of social life. The prohibition of muskir wa mufattir grounds the protection of intellect; lā ḍarar wa lā ḍirār establishes a universal ethical prohibition against self- and social destruction; the hadith on yu'manu sharruh articulates social security as relational morality; the prohibition of self-destruction frames drug abuse as intihār baṭīʾ (slow suicide); and kullukum rāʿin distributes preventive accountability across every social stratum. Together, these hadiths operationalize the maqāṣid of ḥifẓ al-nafs, al-ʿaql, and al-nasl. Practically, the study proposes a prophetic-centered prevention model integrating value-based education, community-based rehabilitation, and multi-sectoral collaboration, complementing empirical prevention frameworks such as those of BNN (the Indonesian National Narcotics Board) and UNODC.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the dynamics of Quraysh elite conversion through a comparative study of Umar bin Khattab and Khalid bin Walid, focusing on their conversion processes, personal transformations, and institutional contributions to the formation of early Islamic power structures. This study employed a qualitative method utilizing the Political Sociology of Religion approach within the framework of Max Weber's thought, particularly focusing on the concepts of legitimation, authority, and the routinization of charisma. The findings revealed that the conversion of Umar bin Khattab and Khalid bin Walid was not merely a matter of individual religious transformation but also constituted an integral part of the political legitimation mechanism in early Islam. Umar's conversion occurred during the early phase of Islam and contributed to strengthening internal legitimacy and to the transformation toward a more rational and institutionalized political-administrative system. Meanwhile, Khalid's conversion occurred during a phase of power consolidation, strengthening the military as an instrument of expansion and stabilization. Comparatively, both figures demonstrate similar patterns of elite conversion in legitimacy transfer, yet differ in their historical contexts and in the forms of institutional contribution. This research concluded that Quraysh elite conversion constituted a crucial mechanism for the legitimation of power, while simultaneously driving the differentiation of political and military functions within the early Islamic state. Thus, this study affirms that the Islamization of elites not only expanded the socio-religious base but also played a significant role in the formation of an organized and expansive power structure.
