Abstract

Street vendors are basically able to sustain the economy of the urban poor. However, their existence is considered to cause disorder in the way they often deal with disciplinary actions organized by the government. The policy set by the provincial government on street vendors should be addressed to the cultural dimension, by minimizing acts of violence and instilling the values of cleanliness and order. Previous studies see street vendors as alternative economic actors who have a stake in the national economy. The studies also put more emphasis on policies (structure) and behaviour of street vendors (culture) so that they do not show sustainable and inclusive development. For this reason, the study in this article adds the dimension of social processes besides discussing the structure and culture under the social development framework in the case of street vendors through interactions that are built between them and the government. It uses surveys as the quantitative method to measure the level or achievements of social development, and applies cluster sampling techniques according to the area and type of commodity. In addition, a qualitative method is also used to explore the meaning of street vendors in dealing with the structure by interviewing and conducting FGDs on market managers, government officials, street vendor associations and street vendors themselves.

Abstract

AbstractAlong with the transformation of Islamic higher educations into full-fledged universities, the concept of integration of science and religion is their key characteristic. Indonesian education has witnessed the dynamic and development of paradigm, concept, and metaphor for Islamic university’s science integration. Many studies dealing with the paradigm and concept of science integration and its implementation in curriculum design and learning process have been conducted but tend to focus on the monolithic understanding of each university. By distancing itself from the general trend, this study attempted to analyze the plural conceptions of science integration and factors affecting the plural conceptions at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. To achieve the goal, we employed a mixed method of quantitative and qualitative approach with questionnaires distributed to the sample of 147 lecturers, focus group discussion with 25 participants, and library studies. The study found three types of conceptions have developed and co-existed at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, namely official conception, senior academia’s conception, and general lecturers' conception. Each has its formulation and emphasis, although they share some similarities. The study also revealed the institutional factor as context and individual factors, mainly experience and expertise, resulting in the plural conceptions of science integration. Thus, the concept of science integration at an Islamic university should be considered as a dynamic and plural entity.AbstrakSeiring dengan transformasi perguruan tinggi keagamaan Islam menjadi universitas penuh, konsep integrasi ilmu dan agama menjadi karakteristik utamanya, dan pendidikan Indonesia telah menyaksikan dinamika dan pengembangan paradigma, konsep, dan metafora integrasi ilmu di universitas-universitas Islam tersebut. Banyak penelitian yang berhubungan dengan paradigma dan konsep integrasi ilmu serta implementasinya dalam desain kurikulum dan proses pembelajaran telah dilakukan, tetapi penelitian-penelitian tersebut cenderung berfokus pada pemahaman monolitik dari masing-masing universitas. Berbeda dengan itu semua, penelitian ini berusaha menganalisis beragam konsepsi tentang integrasi ilmu dan agama dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi beragam konsepsi tersebut di UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Kami menggunakan metode campuran kuantitatif dan kualitatif dengan teknik kuesioner yang disebarkan kepada 147 responden, Focus Group Discussion dengan 25 partisipan, dan studi kepustakaan. Studi ini menemukan bahwa tiga jenis konsepsi telah berkembang dan hidup berdampingan di UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, yaitu konsepsi resmi, konsepsi akademisi senior, dan konsepsi dosen umum. Masing-masing memiliki rumusan dan penekanan sendiri meskipun mereka memiliki beberapa kesamaan. Studi ini juga mengungkapkan faktor kelembagaan sebagai konteks dan faktor individu terutama pengalaman dan keahlian yang mempengaruhi beragam konsepsi integrasi ilmu. Abstract

Kegagalan menggerakkan usaha ekonomi desa, disebabkan oleh kepala desa belum berperan aktif, tidak memiliki kemampuan dan prakarsa kuat untuk menggerakkan masyarakat, potensi ekonomi desa dan mengkonsolidasikan aset ekonomi desa. Tujuan penelitian ini menjelaskan bagaimana peran Kepala Desa Susukan, Kabupaten Cirebon dalam menggerakkan ekonomi desa. Pendekatan kualitatif digunakan dengan wawancara mendalam, observasi dan telaah dokumen, menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kepala Desa Susukan mampu berperan menggerakkan beberapa usaha ekonomi Desa, khususnya pengelolaan pasar Desa Susukan, sehingga menjadi salah satu sumber pemasukan bagi Kas Desa. Didukung pula oleh moralitas dan motivasi kepala desa serta dukungan bantuan dari Pemerintah Kabupaten, Provinsi dan Pusat.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Pesantren Kilat (Sanlat) merupakan salah satu strategi pendidikan keagamaan yang dilakukan dalam waktu singkat namun intensif, terutama pada momentum Ramadan. Program ini kerap dijadikan sarana efektif untuk membentuk karakter religius pada anak-anak sejak usia dini. Tujuan:  artikel ini  untuk menguraikan bagaimana kegiatan Sanlat mampu menjadi medium strategis dalam membentuk karakter religius anak-anak melalui pendekatan kisah-kisah dalam Al-Qur’an dan keteladanan para nabi. Penelitian ini berbasis pada kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilaksanakan oleh tim PKUMI, dengan Metode: Pendekatan deskriptif-kualitatif dan analisis data lapangan. Hasil: Pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan Sanlat yang terstruktur, disertai narasi-narasi profetik dan metode interaktif, secara signifikan meningkatkan pemahaman nilai religiusitas seperti kejujuran, kedisiplinan, empati, dan ketauhidan pada anak-anak. Kesimpulan: Studi ini merekomendasikan penguatan kurikulum Sanlat berbasis karakter untuk program serupa di masa mendatang.

Abstract

The Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) is a governmental program in Jakarta designed to promote educational equity for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This KJP initiative represents a key governmental policy, structured as a social development instrument. This policy serves as an appropriate measure to ensure educational equality. Hence, what kind of policy concept should the government adopt to promote equitable education for the people of Jakarta? This study aims to provide a new policy direction for the government's efforts in social development within the education sector, specifically through the KJP program in Jakarta. The study utilizes a mixed-methods approach, employing both quantitative and qualitative research to capture the structural, cultural, and social process dimensions related to the effectiveness and implementation of the KJP within the community. The quantitative research involved a random sampling of 99 respondents. The qualitative component employed a snowball sampling technique through in-depth interviews with 11 informants. The findings reveal several key results: First, structurally, the KJP is deemed effective as a program for enhancing community education and has demonstrably reduced the school dropout rate. Second, culturally, the KJP has successfully motivated new values and enthusiasm within the community, encouraging greater diligence, effort, and responsibility. Third, the KJP program was socialized and communicated transparently through schools and a dedicated website, as a form of social process. The concept of social development, framed by the dimensions of structure, culture, and social process, emerges as the appropriate and effective solution for achieving inclusive and holistic educational equity
