Abstract

Agroforestry-based coffee is one of the conservation efforts to restore the damages at the Citarum watershed. Planting annual crops between coffee rows could potentially contribute income for the growers during the immature non-productive coffee growth. The aims of the research is to study the effect of various types of agroforestry models in the upstream Citarum watershed on the growth of coffee, and growth and yields of the intercrops. The research was conducted in September 2018 to June 2019 at the upstream Citarum watershed of Tarumajaya Subdistrict Kertasari, Bandung Regency, West Java, Indonesia. The research was arranged with a randomized block design with two factors. The first factor was the cropping system, i.e. coffee monoculture, coffee and corn, coffee and sweet corn, coffee and red beans, and coffee and habanero chili. The second factor was organic matter application, i.e. with and without application of in situ organic matter. The results of the research showed that coffee intercropped with habanero with application of in situ organic matter had the best vegetative growth, indicated by taller plants, more leaves, increased leaf P and Mg levels, and the maximum income from the intercrop. Coffee intercropped with corn with application of in situ organic matter had a maximum corn production but had the lowest income. Therefore, the model of coffee intercropped with habanero chili with application of in situ organic matter was the best model from several intercropping systems tested.

Abstract

Kabupaten Belu Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) merupakan wilayah Republik Indonesia yang berbatasan langsung dengan Republik Demokrat Timor Leste (RI-RDTL). Curah hujan yang sedikit sehingga air menjadi barang berharga. Hidroponik merupakan solusi untuk menggunakan air lebih efisien. Secara umum ada dua jenis gully, yaitu bulat dan kotak, tetapi belum mengetahui jenis mana yang menghasilkan selada terbaik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui respon jenis gully dari gully berbentuk bulat dan kotak terhadap hasil dan pertumbuhan selada pada sistem hidroponik. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Greenhouse kemuning, Kabupaten Belu, NTT, pada ketinggian 300 mdpl. Penelitian dimulai pada bulan Oktober - November 2021. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non Faktorial adalah 2 jenis gully: P1: Gully pipa Polyvinyl chlorida (PVC) , P2 : Gully PVC talang (hollow). Pertumbuhan selada pada jenis gully bulat maupun kotak tidak berpengaruh nyata kecuali pada tinggi tanaman. Tinggi tanaman selada pada jenis gully bulat lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan jenis kotak. Jenis Gully kotak memiliki bobot total pertanaman lebih tinggi dari pada jenis bulat tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata. Dengan demikian Jika melihat pada pertumbuhan tanaman, selada pada jenis gully bulat lebih unggul, Jika melihat dari bobot, jenis gully kotak lebih unggul

Abstract

Diversity and dominance of weeds is the first step in determining the success of weed control. This study aims to identify the diversity and dominance of weeds in cashew cultivation on dry land. This research was conducted from August 2022 to January 2023 in Belu Regency, NTT Province at an altitude of ± 450 meters above sea level (masl). The observed land is cashew cultivation land. Data collection was carried out by taking weeds in random sample plots of 8 points in each village. Sampling using a frame size quadrant 0.5 x 0.5 m. Weed samples were collected and identified per species according to weed groups, then calculated using the Summed Dominance Ratio to obtain weed dominance at each location. There are 18 weed families in cashew cultivation consisting of one nut weed, three grass weeds, and fourteen broadleaf weeds. The dominant weed family under cashew stands is Hyptis suaveolens, which is in the Lamiaceae family, with Fabaceae being the Desmodium adsendens species. Because the value of C = 31.97% < 75%, weed communities in the Wedomu and Kabuna locations are different. Thus, weed control in the Wedomu and Kabuna locations is different. In the Wedomu location, the dominant weeds were Elausin indica with an SDR of 26.98%, which were narrow leaf weeds, annuals, suggested for mechanical control and plowing, as well as application of contact herbicides. Hyptis suaveolens is more dominant in the Kabuna location with an SDR of 17.90%, which is an invasive weed for control suggestions when it has not yet entered its flowering period, is plowed, removed, then chemically controlled.

Abstract

In vocational education, field practice is not only considered as a complement, but also as the core of learning that can produce graduates who are ready to contribute directly to the world of work. Professional Job Lecture (PJL) is a mandatory courses in the sixth semester. All learning is carried out practically. This research aims to examine the level of knowledge of students who are participants in the PJL. The research was conducted on 15 August until 31 October 2023 at the Citra Widya Edukasi Oil Palm Polytechnic on all students of the Production Technology of Plantation Crops study program for the year entering 2021. The number of students in the survey was 37 people. The student has participated in PJL activities at the Subang oil palm educational plantation of the Citra Widya Edukasi Oil Palm Polytechnic for 20 days. Primary data was used in this research through filling out questionnaires. Level of confidence and knowledge of students measured by submitting statements and questions in online questionnaire. Questionnaire-filling was carried out on the first day of the PJL and 2 months after the activity was completed. The level of knowledge of students PJL about oil palm plantation management was medium to very high level based on hypothetical data categorization. The majority of students have a high level of knowledge as much as 62.86%. Effective communication based on SKKN topic for Plantation Asisstants was the highest percentage of corecct answers namely 89.86. Self-confidence was increased after PJL with the number of students by 31 people.

Abstract

Mangrove planting and coastal clean-up activities at Sukaer Laran Beach, Kenebibi Village, Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, were carried out with the aim of rehabilitating coastal ecosystems and raising public awareness of the importance of environmental conservation. The activity involved lecturers and 25 cadet students from the Military Logistics Vocational Faculty (FVLM), Plantation Crop Cultivation Study Program, in collaboration with KPP Pratama Atambua. The program employed an andragogical approach, incorporating discussion and service learning methods, including a public outreach session on the importance of mangroves and coastal conservation, symbolic distribution of mangrove seedlings, planting activities, and a collective beach clean-up. The results showed increased community participation and successful rehabilitation of the coastal area through mangrove planting and waste reduction. This activity had a positive impact on coastal environmental sustainability and strengthened the role of local communities in preserving coastal ecosystems. Therefore, similar programs should continue to be supported to maintain environmental sustainability in East Nusa Tenggara's coastal regions.

Abstract

Kumbang tanduk (Oryctes rhinoceros L.) merupakan salah satu hama utama kelapa sawit yang menyerang tanaman pada fase Tanaman Belum Menghasilkan (TBM) dan berpotensi menurunkan produktivitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas berbagai jenis umpan buah dan lampu warna kuning dalam meningkatkan daya tangkap perangkap kumbang tanduk. Penelitian dilakukan di Perkebunan Rakyat Desa Kembang Manis, Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Barat,  Provinsi Jambi menggunakan metode survey deskriptif dengan tujuh perlakuan, meliputi kombinasi umpan buah (nangka, pisang, nanas) dengan atau tanpa lampu kuning, dan diulang sebanyak tiga kali. Perangkap dipasang di lapangan selama 1 bulan dan pengamatan dilakukan setiap empat hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi fruit trap nanas dan lampu warna kuning merupakan perlakuan paling efektif, dengan jumlah tangkapan tertinggi mencapai 33 ekor kumbang. Perlakuan tanpa lampu menghasilkan tangkapan lebih rendah, dan umpan pisang tanpa lampu menunjukkan hasil terendah. Setelah dilakukan pengamatan maka jumlah kumbang tanduk jantan cenderung lebih banyak tertangkap dibandingkan betina. Pada pengendalian kumbang tanduk pada kelapa sawit, kombinasi antara nanas dan lampu warna kuning sangat direkomendasikan.  Horned beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros) is one of the main pests of oil palm that attacks plants in the Immature Plant (TBM) phase and has the potential to reduce productivity. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of various types of fruit bait and yellow lights in increasing the catchability of horned beetle traps. The research was conducted in the Plantation of Kembang Manis Village, Tanjung Jabung Barat District, Jambi Provinceusing a descriptive survey method with seven treatments, including a combination of fruit baits (jackfruit, banana, pineapple) with or without yellow lights, and repeated three times. Traps were set in the field for 1 month and observations were made every four days. The results showed that the combination of pineapple fruit trap and yellow light was the most effective treatment, with the highest number of catches reaching 33 beetles. The treatment without lights produced lower catches, and the banana bait without lights showed the lowest results. After observation, the number of male horned beetles tended to be caught more than females. At horned beetle control in oil palm, a combination of pineapple and yellow light is recommended.

Abstract

Kelompok tani maduhur di Kecamatan Taman Sari, Kabupaten Bogor merupakan petani kopi. Beberapa jenis kopi ditanam diantaranya kopi arabika, robusta, liberika, dan kopi kultivar lokal yakni kopi “buhun”. Kelompok tani maduhur dalam teknis budidaya kopi masih mengalami beberapa kendala, diantaranya ketersediaan bibit unggul, kondisi agroklimat serta serangan hama dan penyakit. Hal ini menyebabkan potensi produksi dari tanaman kopi belum optimum. Sedangkan di pasaran permintaan kopi terus meningkat dan menuntut kualitas yang prima. Oleh karena itu, kelompok tani maduhur diberikan pendampingan dan inisiasi pusat pengembangan kopi khususnya di Kecamatan Tamansari, Kabupaten Bogor. Hasil diskusi dan wawancara dari petani kopi menunjukkan minimnya pengetahuan teknis budidaya kopi. Tingkat pengetahuan petani masih terbilang minim sehingga hasil produksi yang diperoleh belum mencapai target. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berupa penyuluhan mengenai teknik budidaya kopi sesuai dengan kondisi aktual di lapangan dan memberikan arahan kepada seluruh anggota kelompok tani untuk mempraktikkan materi yang telah diberikan.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di SMKN 2 Kabupaten Belu, Nusa Tenggara Timur, dengan fokus pada Penerapan Teknologi Mekanisasi pada Tanaman Perkebunan untuk Mendukung Ketahanan Pangan Nasional. Kegiatan melibatkan dosen dan 25 kadet mahasiswa Fakultas Vokasi Logistik Militer (FVLM), Program Studi Budidaya Tanaman Perkebunan. Tujuan utama kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan siswa dalam pemanfaatan teknologi mekanisasi perkebunan guna meningkatkan efisiensi budidaya, produktivitas, dan keberlanjutan sektor pertanian. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pendekatan andragogi, diskusi interaktif, serta service learning, sehingga peserta tidak hanya memperoleh pengetahuan teoritis, tetapi juga pengalaman praktis di lapangan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta mengenai pentingnya mekanisasi perkebunan serta keterampilan dalam mengoperasikan alat dan teknologi sederhana yang relevan dengan kebutuhan lokal. Kegiatan ini memberikan kontribusi nyata dalam memperkuat ketahanan pangan nasional melalui peningkatan kapasitas SDM di bidang perkebunan.
