Abstract

Some say that the essence of Sufism is in fana' (ecstasy, self-destruction before God) and kasyf (disclosure to God) because through both, ma'rifah (direct relationship with God) as the goal of Sufism occurs. Neo-Sufism, as a new Sufism movement, rejects or doubts the ecstatic-mystical-philosophical elements of classical Sufism, and therefore prefers elements of puritanism (its compatibility with Islamic orthodoxy) and changes its escapist character (escape from the world) to activism (positive attitude towards, and self-involvement in, the world). The aim of this study is to further examine the differences between the nature of classical Sufism and neo-Sufism and to further assess neo-Sufism. As a method, the answers found regarding the nature of (classical) Sufism are used as a benchmark for assessing neo-Sufism. On this basis, it was later discovered that neo-Sufism cannot be called Sufism. That was because of his denial or doubt about kasyf as the essence of Sufism, with which, the goals of Sufism, such as ma'rifah and other Sufism experiences (al-ahwa al-sufiyyah) occur. Without the experience of Sufism there can be no Sufism.

Abstract

This paper discusses the shifting ideology and Islamic movements that have occurred in several countries with Muslim-majority populations. By explaining some of the thoughts of Salafi and Fundamentalist ideologues such as Ibn Taimiyyah, Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyah, Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahab, apart from maintaining the purity of Islamic teachings, these two ideologies became the embryos for the brith of the ideology and movement of contemporary Islamism. Ideologists of Islamism such as Al-Maududi, Al-Banna responded to the dynamics of problems in Muslim society in general by voicing alternatives by proposing Islam as the final option by establishing an Islamic state and implementing Islamic law in the institution of an Islamic caliphate.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse digital literacy and efforts to build basic competencies among learners in developing countries. Digital literacy includes the technical ability to use digital devices and applications, as well as critical skills in evaluating information and understanding the ethical implications of technology. While access to information and communication technologies has increased, many learners in developing countries still lack adequate digital literacy skills. Factors such as limited infrastructure, inequality of educational resources and low levels of teacher training are significant barriers. Literature studies show that a holistic approach that incorporates technical, critical and ethical aspects is essential in developing digital literacy. Digital literacy should be integrated into the education curriculum systematically and supported by adequate training for educators. In addition, collaboration between the government, educational institutions, non-governmental organisations and the private sector is needed to create an ecosystem that supports the development of digital literacy. Thus, there is a need for coordinated policies and initiatives to improve digital literacy among learners in developing countries. Investments in technology infrastructure, training programmes and the provision of quality educational resources are key to preparing young people for the challenges and opportunities of the digital age. With adequate digital literacy, learners in developing countries can more effectively contribute to the economic and social development of their communities.
