Abstract

Chemistry is essential for maritime engineering students, but many concepts are abstract and difficult to understand due to limited resources that integrate macroscopic, microscopic, and symbolic representations. This study aimed to develop and validate a maritime chemistry e-module that combines multiple representations with Augmented Reality (AR) technology, aligned with IMO Model Course 7.04. The research employed the ADDIE development model, consisting of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through expert validation sheets and student response questionnaires, and analyzed using percentage analysis. The results showed that the e-module achieved very valid criteria, with average feasibility values of 92.75% for material and 98.09% for media aspects. Student responses indicated high acceptance in terms of appearance, design, ease of use, content comprehension, interactivity, engagement, and perceived benefits, with an overall score of 87.36% classified as very good. In conclusion, the multiple representation-based AR e-module provides maritime engineering students with a practical, contextual, and engaging learning tool, enhancing conceptual understanding in maritime chemistry.

Abstract

IMO Model Course 7.04 menetapkan standar minimum kompetensi untuk perwira pelayaran yang bertugas di kamar mesin agar aman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh media pembelajaran berbasis Augmented Reality terhadap hasil belajar kimia pelayaran sesuai dengan standar IMO Model Course 7.04. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain quasi-experimental menggunakan pretest-posttest control group design yang dilaksanakan pada semester genap 2024/2025 dengan teknik purposive sampling yang memungkinkan peneliti memilih responden berdasarkan kriteria tertentu yang relevan dengan tujuan penelitian. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kelompok eksperimen unggul di semua aspek pembelajaran kimia maritim. Peningkatan tertinggi terjadi pada aspek "Korosi dan Proteksi Logam" dengan selisih 14,37 poin, yang mengindikasikan bahwa visualisasi AR sangat efektif untuk memahami proses korosi yang sulit diamati secara langsung. Respon siswa yang sangat positif terhadap penerapan media pembelajaran AR (rata-rata 4,25 dari Skala 5) menunjukkan bahwa teknologi ini tidak hanya efektif secara akademis tetapi juga diterima dengan baik dari aspek pengalaman pengguna dan motivasi belajar. Disimpulkan penerapan media pembelajaran berbasis Augmented Reality memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar kimia pelayaran.

Abstract

Curcumin analog compounds are α,β unsaturated compounds through simplifying the beta diketo group to monoketo, which has better bioavailability and a more stable structure than curcumin compounds. This study aims to determine the α-amylase inhibitory activity on symmetric curcumin analog compounds, namely the compounds 2,6-bis(3,4-dimethoxybenzylidine)cyclohexanone (A) and 2,6-bis(3,4-dimethoxybenzylidine)cyclopentanone (B). as well as testing its synergistic interaction with ferulic acid in vitro. The α-amylase inhibition test was carried out using an iodine reagent and a starch solution as a substrate. The absorbance value was measured using a UV-vis spectrophotometer (λ 568 nm), and the % inhibition was calculated. The average value of the optimum α-amylase inhibition percentage for compounds A, B, and ferulic acid, respectively is 58.17%; 22.95%, and 93.52%. Based on the synergistic interaction, it was concluded that compounds A and B showed synergistic activity with ferulic acid. The percentage of α-amylase inhibition in the concentration ratio of curcumin analog A: ferulic acid (1:8) was 98.65%, and curcumin analog B: ferulic acid (1:4) was 98.37%. This shows that combining compounds between symmetrical curcumin analogs and ferulic acid can increase the activity of antidiabetic drug candidate compounds compared to single compounds. This study offers a new approach by testing the potential combination of curcumin and ferulic acid analogues as α-amylase inhibitors in vitro, demonstrating a synergy that has not been widely explored and opening up opportunities for developing more effective natural antidiabetic therapies.

Abstract

Pengelolaan sampah yang belum maksimal menjadi tugas utama untuk segera diselesaikan, terutama dari skala terkecil yaitu limbah rumah tangga. Berbagai upaya dilakukan dalam rangka melindungi bumi, salah satunya adalah memanfaatkan kembali potensi limbah organik dalam rumah tangga menjadi berbagai produk multiguna, berprinsip green chemistry, dan bernilai ekonomi. Eco enzyme adalah cairan hasil fermentasi dari bahan-bahan sederhana, seperti gula merah, limbah organik, dan air. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah melakukan pelatihan pembuatan eco enzyme dari limbah organik menjadi barang multiguna, salah satunya sebagai pupuk cair. Mitra kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah komunitas ibu-ibu PKK warga perumahan Ayodya, desa Sekaran, Gunungpati, Semarang. Metode yang dilakukan adalah FGD (Forum Group Discussion) dan demonstrasi pelatihan pembuatan eco enzyme sebagai pupuk cair. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan masyarakat terkait pembuatan eco enzyme sebagai pupuk cair. Kegiatan ini penting dilakukan untuk mengelola limbah organik dan memberikan kontribusi nyata yaitu melindungi bumi dari pencemaran lingkungan.
