Abstract

Bunga telang (Clitoria ternatea), sering disebut juga sebagai butterfly pea merupakan bunga yang khas dengan kelopak tunggal berwarna ungu. Potensi farmakologi bunga telang antara lain adalah sebagai antioksidan, antibakteri, anti inflamasi dan analgesik, antiparasit dan antisida, antidiabetes, antikanker, antihistamin, dan potensi berperan dalam susunan syaraf pusat, Central Nervous System (CNS). Pada zaman dahulu kala, bunga ini dipakai sebagai tetes mata, baik pada bayi ataupun orang dewasa. Uji kadar gula darah pada mencit menggunakan Glucometer. Metode ini digunakan untuk menurunkan kadar gula darah pada mencit.25 ekor mencit dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok, masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 5 ekor mencit. Kelompok pertama Metformin 65%, kelompok kedua Na-CMC 0,5%, kelompok ketiga ekstrak bunga telang 250%, kelompokkeempat 500%, kelompok kelima 1000%, masing-masing kelompok diberi perlakuan per oral selama 28 hari. Kemudiandiharike 0 diberikan suspense glukosa 50% secara oral, setelah itu pada hari ke 0 dilakukan pengambilan darah, dilanjutkan pada hari ke 7, 14, 21, dan hari ke 28. Kemudian kadar gula darah diukur menggunakan Glukometer, kemudian mencit diberi perlakuan sesuai kelompok yang sudah dibuat. Dihitung penurunan kadar gula darah.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak bunga telang dosis 250 mg, 500 mg dan 1000 mg dapat menurunkan kadar gula darah pada mencit dibandingkan terhadap kontrol negatif (p < 0,05). Kelompok pemberian CMC Na 0,5% memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan dengan kelompok pemberian metformin (p<0,05) dan juga terdapat perbedaan dengan kelompok pemberian sediaan dosis 33 mg/KgBB, 65 mg/KgBB dan 130 mg/KgBB (p<0,05). Berdasarkan pemaparan di atas dapat disimpulkan bahwa Ekstrak bunga telang mempunyai potensi penurunan kadar gula darah pada mencit jantan, Ekstrak bunga telang 250 mg, 500 mg dan 1000 mg dapat meningkatkan potensi penurunan dibandingkan dengan kontrol CMC Na 0,5%. Ekstrak bunga telang mempunyai efek menghambat aktivitas enzim glukoneogenik, glukosa-6- fosfatase, dan sebaliknya meningkatkan aktivitas enzim glukokinase.

Abstract

Liver damage induced by hepatotoxic compounds such as N-acetyl-p-aminophenol (N-APAP) remains a significant global health concern. Hepatotoxicity caused by N-APAP, particularly in cases of overdose or prolonged use, can lead to a reduction in glutathione levels in the liver, resulting in oxidative stress and cellular damage. This condition contributes to an increased incidence of liver diseases, including toxic hepatitis and acute liver failure, which can lead to serious complications and even death. Although various pharmacological therapies, such as N-acetylcysteine (NAC), are available to address N-APAP-induced liver damage, limitations such as side effects, high costs, and variable efficacy have driven the search for safer and more affordable therapeutic alternatives. Therefore, research on natural hepatoprotective agents, such as extracts from the rhizomes of fingerroot (Boesenbergia rotunda), has become increasingly relevant in addressing this issue. The aim of this study was to evaluate the hepatoprotective potential of ethanol extract from fingerroot rhizomes (Boesenbergia rotunda) in protecting the liver from N-acetyl-p-aminophenol (N-APAP)-induced damage. Specifically, this research focuses on measuring glutathione levels as a key indicator of the liver's protective mechanism against oxidative stress. In this study, 30 male White rats were randomly divided into six groups, each consisting of five rats. All rats were orally administered the extract at predetermined doses for 10 consecutive days, except for the negative and positive control groups. On the 10th day, all groups (except group 1) were treated with paracetamol (800 mg/kg body weight) to induce liver damage. Twenty-four hours after induction, the rats were sacrificed and liver samples were collected. Glutathione levels were measured using the ELISA immunosorbent assay. Statistical analysis showed that administering the ethanol extract of Fingerroot rhizomes (EERTK) for 10 days prior to N-APAP induction significantly increased the average antioxidant enzyme GSH-Px levels in the liver homogenate of rats in the EERTK 250 mg/kg BW (43.36 ± 1.34 U/mg protein), EERTK 500 mg/kg BW (55.70 ± 2.15 U/mg protein), and 750 mg/kg BW (53.14 ± 2.57 U/mg protein) group compared to the negative control group (N-APAP 800 mg/kg BW), which had the lowest average antioxidant enzyme GSH-Px level (33.86 ± 3.52 U/mg protein).

Abstract

Kulit merupakan lapisan terluar yang melindungi tubuh dari rangsangan luar. kulit berfungsi melindungi permukaan tubuh, memelihara suhu tubuh, dan mengeluarkan kotoran-kotoran tertentu. Luka sayat merupakan luka yang terjadi karena teriris oleh instrumen yang tajam. Pengobatan luka sayat dapat dilakukan dengan memberi obat pada kulit yang terkena luka yang biasanya diberikan secara topical. penggunaan obat pada luka bertujuan untuk mempercepat proses penyembuhan kulit yang terluka. secara umum daun jamblang mengandung metabolit sekunder berupa flavonoid, alkaloid, dan terpenoid, yang digunakan didalam dunia pengobatan seperti untuk antiradang, penahan rasa sakit, anti jamur. Senyawa flavonoid quersetin sebagai anti inflamasi mampu menghambat enzim siklooksigenase dan lipooksigenase sehingga proses penyembuhan fase inflamasi dapat mempercepat proses penyembuhan luka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah formulasi salep ekstrak daun jamblang (Syzygium cumini L) memiliki efektivitas pengobatan terhadap luka sayat. Sampel yang digunakan yaitu ektrak daun jamblang yang diambil dari Kecamatan mesjid raya, Kabupaten aceh besar, desa lamreh, provinsi Aceh. Hasil penelitian dilakukan dengan metode eksperimental diperoleh rata-rata penyembuhan luka sayat menggunakan ekstrak daun jamblang yaitu konsentrasi 20% merupakan konsentrasi yang paling efektif dibandingkan konsentrasi 10% dan 15%. Penyembuhan luka sayat hari ke -14 pada tikus putih, kontrol positif ialah 0.04 cm, basis salep dengan total penyembuhan luka 0.69 cm, kosentarasi 10% adalah 0.50 cm, konsentrasi 15% adalah 0.22 cm dan untuk konsentrasi 20% adalah 0.16 cm. Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun jamblang efektif dalam penyembuhan luka sayat dan Salep ekstrak daun jamblang dengan kosentrasi 20% merupakan formula sediaan yang paling evektif untuk penyembuhan luka sayat.

Abstract

Wound healing is a process that involves the restoration of injured or dead tissue and replacing it with new tissue through the process of cell regeneration. Although the wounds that occur tend to be mild, they need to be treated immediately to avoid infection that will hinder the healing process, even causing dangerous diseases. Therefore, natural product-based treatments have been explored naturally because of their ability to provide optimal wound healing effects to patients such as laban leaves (Vitex pinnata). The method used in this study was a laboratory experiment that began with the manufacture of extracts, cream formulations, and testing of wound healing activity. The test animals, male white rats of the Wistar strain, were divided into 5 groups for different treatments. Wound healing activity was measured by observing the diameter of the wound and healing time, and analyzed statistically using the One Way Anova method. The results showed that the preparation of ethanol extract cream of laban leaves (Vitex pinnata) was effective in accelerating the healing of cuts in male white rats at a concentration of 25% which was almost the same as the positive control. The conclusion of this study shows that the ethanol extract of laban leaves (Vitex pinnata) can be formulated into an effective cream preparation for wound healing, with a concentration of 25% as the most optimal concentration.

Abstract

The aim of this service activity is to provide further education to the local community regarding the use of spice plants for everyday life. Apart from that, the aim of this service activity is to encourage people in Sei Limbat Village to use spice plants more as medicine. This topic was chosen because it is a topic that is rarely discussed and rarely researched in more depth regarding spice gardens. In fact, if we look deeper, spice gardens provide many benefits for life, one of which is in the health sector. The importance of discussing this topic is so that people care more about spices than chemical medicines. The method we use is by providing education and outreach to the local community.

Abstract

Broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. Italica) is a vegetable recognized for its abundant bioactive components, such as flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and vitamin C, which are linked to antioxidant capabilities. Notwithstanding its health advantages, the broccoli stalk is frequently disregarded and underexploited, despite its potential as a source of natural antioxidant chemicals. This work aims to assess the antioxidant activity of the ethanolic extract from broccoli stalks utilizing the DPPH method and to ascertain its IC₅₀ value. The extraction was conducted via the maceration method utilizing 70% ethanol, and the antioxidant activity was assessed through UV-Vis spectrophotometry at a peak wavelength of 516 nm. The results indicated that the ethanolic extract of broccoli stem possesses considerable antioxidant activity, with an IC₅₀ value of 35.74 µg/ml. The IC₅₀ value of vitamin C was shown to be 7.67 µg/ml. The results indicate that broccoli stalks may be a significant source of natural antioxidants. The validation of the analytical method demonstrated outstanding results, including linearity (r = 0.9989), accuracy (100.57%), and precision (%RSD = 0.5646%).

Abstract

Muntingia calabura L is an Indonesian herbal plant known as kersen which has the ability to reduce blood sugar levels. M. Calabura has secondary metabolites, namely flavonoids, tannins, triterpenoids, saponins and polyphenols. This study aimed to compare the antidiabetic activities of water and ethanol extracts of M. calabura in male mice. In this study, M. calabura was extracted using the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent (EEMC) and decoction of Kersen leaves (EDMC). Blood glucose levels were measured at intervals of 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes using a glucometer after being induced by alloxan induction. Animals were divided into eight groups (positive group, negative group and EEMC group, and EDMC group with doses of 125, 250 and 500 mg/kg BW. The results of the investigation showed that the activity to reduce blood glucose levels during the interval time was significantly different compared to the negative group, and positive control was not significantly different compared to the EEMC 250 mg/kg BW and EDMC 500 mg/kg BW groups. The conclusion of this study was that the EEMC and EDMC groups had decreased blood glucose levels. EEMC 250mg/kg BW and EDMC 500 mg/kg BW groups showed comparable activity to the positive control.
