Abstract

In 2010, the concept of destination management organization (DMO) was applied as an effort to improve the weakness of tourism management in Pangandaran. This concept stresses the form of collaboration among stakeholders who are involved in tourism from community groups, private sectors, and government. The stakeholders are led by a destination management organization: Forum Tata Kelola Pariwisata (FTKP/Pangandaran Tourism Governance Forum) which serves as a mediator, facilitator, and coordinator for the three groups of stakeholders. This research was conducted using a case study approach which was deliberately applied to a Pangandaran Village. Besides, this research also employed a mix method approach that practically combines quantitative and qualitative research methods aimed to find out the effectivity of stakeholders’ collaboration in implementing the concept of DMO in Pangandaran. The results of this research show that collaboration among stakeholders in DMO-based tourism destination governance has run quite effectively. This is manifested by the existence of common goals, equality, and high commitment from stakeholders. FTKP leadership is fairly good to support collaboration among stakeholders. However, trust and communication among stakeholders need to be improved.

The concept review conducted on the Likupang SEZ was seen from the growth in the number of tourists, the role of the community, and the potential for regional transformation. The study, founds that tourists have a significant role in encouraging tourism development policies and physical changes in the tourism area. Meanwhile, the community has the potential to be the key to tourism growth going forward with the encouragement of facilities from the government. The area has the potential to transform into an area of tourism with a variety of activities. Abstract

The explosion of tourism activities encourages urban development initiatives. The phenomenon is known as 'touristification'. The phenomenon of touristification in the city of Yogyakarta is interesting to study, in order to examine its characteristics. The method used in this study is qualitative with data collected online. The findings of this study are the first, namely the development of tourist villages as a result of the growth of tourism activities, especially in the Malioboro area and its surroundings as the primadonna of tourism activities in the city of Yogyakarta. The development of tourist villages also helped to stimulate tourism supporting businesses engaged in accommodation. As a result, many residential neighbourhoods were transformed into residential facilities for overnight tourists. With the alternative forms and locations of this lodging, tourism activities in the city of Yogyakarta are not only concentrated in the city centre. Rural areas also transformed into a tourist area, which plays as a supporting region. The emergence of a tourist village is considered to have the opportunity to introduce and enhance existing local potential.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an understanding of why CSR planning does not necessarily bring about community satisfaction even though it has been through participation in its planning, through a philosophical perspective of science. Using evaluative descriptive methods with secondary data sources such as literature and journals (current research), then represented through several focus discussions include: (1) Concept of planning and CSR through the perspective of science philosophy, (2) Ontological, epistemological and axiological aspects of complexity CSR, (3) Theoretical debates, empirical facts and discussions. Conceptual review through this literature review has found the complex connectivity between community and company implicated in understanding that CSR planning is not only participatory planning but also more to transactive planning. In here, CSR understanding tends to transactional, developing value in here is ”who will get something”, not only interpreted as community participation but tended to transactional.

Abstract

Planning in public domain in practice is seemingly seen as a utopian concept. Once the knowledge that becomes the basis of planning is built on the pure understandings to cope the problem objectively, in reality, it turns into inflexible and rigid approaches when dealing with various interests, namely political and social subjects. This is because of the distinct perspectives and understanding owned by people, the planning stakeholders which are divergent, and stirred by individual interest. What becomes an evident is that the plentiful of interest tends to trigger the opposite arguments. Accordingly, planning in public domain that hoped to have neutral position is like having a castle in the air, because the individual interests of the stakeholders of planning seems to be inseparable aspects. Planners are then required to have multi-skill of a wide range knowledge, indeed to find it like a search for demigods, albeit by involving many skill groups that ends on a new issue of integrating thinking. This article will therefore attempt to parse a possible problem resolution through the concept of consensus-building, by first explaining its relevance in the context of planning, complexity and commonly used methods, in order to achieve common goals of development, and thereby placing the planner and their plans becomes as a valuable works, its worhted.

Abstract

Abstract

The impact of access policies on the influx of ignorant behavior in conservation areas is still understudied. This research aims to detect this ignorant tourist behavior in the conservation areas by analyzing perceived accessibility and examining the tourist typologies. The study was conducted in Komodo National Park, one of the most popular destinations in Indonesia, which has experienced high accessibility development. The research method employed tourism policy and factor-cluster analysis to examine the tourist typology. Accessibility constructs and hedonic tourist motivation were used as the variables in the analysis. The total respondents were 534, and the data were analyzed using a non-hierarchical K-means cluster analysis. The result showed that three aspects were considered in managing the accessibility in the conservation areas. The aspects included destination, individual, and conservation accessibilities in the national park. Further, four tourist typologies were found in this research. Two new typologies, hedonistic adventure tourists and high-risk hedonistic tourists, indicated ignorant behavior. Two others, such as real ecotourists and nature-relaxing tourists, presented general nature-based tourist characteristics in the existing literature. The managerial implications of this research are providing practical insights for planners and destination managers to improve conservation awareness for remarkably ignorant tourists.

Abstract

Airport development must pay attention to the catchment area of the surrounding airport so that there is no overlap, which leads to airport leakage problems. Airport leakage is a phenomenon where passengers avoid local airports in their area of residence and choose airports outside their territory. The scope of study in this research is West Java Multi-airport, which consists of Kertajati Airport and Husein Sastranegara Airport, as well as Soekarno-Hatta Airport and Halim Perdanakusuma Airport as airports around West Java. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the phenomenon of airport leakage occurred at the Multi-airport of West Java Province. The study findings concluded that the addition of Kertajati Airport in West Java Province improved air connectivity in terms of flight routes but was not accompanied by an increase in the number of passengers. This phenomenon can be attributed to airport leakage, whereby passengers in West Java tend to favor Soekarno-Hatta Airport and Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport. These airports provide more flight options, offering greater time flexibility and enhanced accessibility.
