Abstract

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder. Parameters characteristic of the disorder include weight gain, insulin resistance and malondialdehyde (MDA). The traditional medicine used is Moringa oleifera. Objectives: The aim was to determine the effect of weight loss and blood glucose levels, MDA levels and histopathological features of the ovarian follicles in the rat model PCOS-insulin resistance induced by testosterone. Methods: Extraction process, followed by fractionation using n-hexane, ethyl acetate and water, identification of compound content using TLC, and rats were grouped into 7 groups (n=5), namely normal group, negative group, positive group, extract, fraction water, ethyl acetate fraction and n-hexane fraction by looking at the characteristic parameters and ovarian histopathology. Data analysis using ANOVA and Kruskal-wallis. Results: The yield of the extract was 30.4%, the water fraction was 85.59%, the ethyl acetate fraction was 6.64% and the n-hexane fraction was 4.05%. Positive for flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids in the ethyl acetate fraction, the water and extract fractions were positive for tannins, the n-hexane fraction was positive for steroids. The modeling sample group obtained extract body weight 195.40 g, water fraction 195.80 g, ethyl acetate fraction 194.00 g, n-hexane fraction 196.00 g, blood glucose level extract 83.00 mg/dL, water fraction 84.27 mg/dL, ethyl acetate fraction 80.00 mg/dL, n-hexane fraction 122.85 mg/dL, MDA extract content 2.704 nmol/mL, water fraction 3.547 nmol/mL, 1.685 nmol/mL, 5.308 nmol /mL and can improve ovarian histopathology. Conclusion: The most effective value is the ethyl acetate fraction because it has the highest decrease in PCOS characteristics.

Abstract

This activity explores and educates how a company carries out long-term strategic planning in expanding or expanding its business, where in carrying out expansion and expansion there are of course obstacles and obstacles it faces. Therefore, it is important for a company's strategic planning to overcome the obstacles and obstacles faced in expanding and expanding its business so that it remains stable and competitive. This activity focuses on one of the micro, small and medium enterprises, namely the beverage industry company "Tea Break" which is located in Selaparang sub-district, Rembiga, Mataram City. The results of this activity highlight the importance of company strategic planning in carrying out business expansion and expansion as well as how companies deal with the obstacles and obstacles they face. The results show that the education carried out by the Team has increased the understanding of MSME owners in carrying out expansion.

Abstract

ABSTRAKAntipsikotik merupakan golongan obat yang digunakan untuk gangguan psikotik. Penarikan obat yang tiba-tiba yang memicu efek samping obat dapat dikatakan dengan gejala putus obat atau Withdrawal Syndromes. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian untuk memberikan edukasi terkait pengetahuan gejala putus obat antipsikotik. Metode yang digunakan yakni ceramah menggunakan alat peraga leaflet namun sebelumnya terlebih dahulu diberikan 10 pertanyaan mengenai edukasi untuk pre test setelah itu diberikan post test, target kegiatan yakni pasien yang menjalani rawat inap di Rumah Sakit RSJ Mutiara Sukma. Hasil kegiatan di dapatkan 21 pasien penggunaan antipsikotik yang terdiri dari 17 pasien laki-laki dan 4 pasien perempuan, didapatkan persentase pretest sebesar 62.86% jawaban yang sesuai sedangkan persentase post test sebesar 68.09%, sedangkan selisih persentase yang didapatkan sebesar 5.23%. Kesimpulan didapatkan pemberian edukasi dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang putus obat penggunaan antipsikotika sebesar 5,23%. Kata kunci: putus obat; antipsikotik ABSTRACT Antipsychotics are a class of drugs used for psychotic disorders. Abrupt withdrawal of medication that triggers side effects can be referred to as withdrawal syndromes. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide education related to the knowledge of antipsychotic withdrawal symptoms. The method used is a lecture using visual aids such as leaflets, preceded by a pre-test consisting of 10 questions about education. Afterward, a post-test is administered to patients undergoing inpatient care at Mutiara Sukma Mental Hospital. The results of the activity revealed 21 patients using antipsychotics, comprising 17 male patients and 4 female patients. The pretest percentage was 62.86% correct answers, while the post-test percentage was 68.09%, resulting in a difference of 5.23%. In conclusion, education can improve knowledge about antipsychotic withdrawal by 5.23%. Keywords: withdrawal syndromes; antipsychotics

Abstract

Tegining ganang (Senna hirsuta L) is a commodity plants on Lombok Island and is traditionally used to treat minor wounds, severe wounds, and skin infections. This study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial and antioxidant activities of ethanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane extracts of Tegining ganang leaves against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli using the DPPH method. The results showed that the ethyl acetate extract exhibited the highest antibacterial activity. Escherichia coli with an inhibition zone of 8.16 mm. For Staphylococcus aureus, the inhibition zone was 1.16 mm. However, all three extracts demonstrated weak antifungal activity. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of alkaloids and flavonoids in all the extracts. Additionally, the ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts contained phenolic compounds and tannins, which were absent in the n-hexane extract. In the antioxidant activity assay, the 96% ethanol extract demonstrated excellent antioxidant activity with average absorbance values of 0,496 ± 0,018 at 10 ppm, 0,438 ± 0,008 at 20 ppm, 0,357 ± 0,003 at 30 ppm, and 0,326 ± 0,002 at 40 ppm, resulting in an IC?? value of 16,67 ppm. The ethyl acetate extract had an absorbance of 0,537 ± 0,010 at 10 ppm, 0,487 ± 0,002 at 20 ppm, 0,443 ± 0,011 at 30 ppm, 0,392 ± 0,003 at 40 ppm, and 0,383 ± 0,005 at 50 ppm, with an IC?? of 28,50 ppm ...

Abstract

Background: Infections are common diseases in tropical regions, including Indonesia. One of the most frequently encountered causes of infection is fungal infection by the Candida albicans species. Infections caused by Candida albicans are known as candidiasis, which is an acute or subacute fungal disease that can affect various areas such as the mouth, vagina, skin, nails, lungs, and digestive tract. Objective: This study aims to examine whether the ethanol extract of neem leaves (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) has antifungal properties that effectively inhibit the growth or kill Candida albicans, as indicated by the diameter of the inhibition zone. Method: The study utilized the well diffusion method, and the concentrations used were 80%, 40%, 20%, 10%, and 5%, with each concentration tested in triplicate. Results: The research findings showed that the inhibition zone diameters for each concentration were as follows 5%: 2.33±1.26 mm; 10%: 4.85±0.30 mm; 20%: 4.66±0.58 mm; 40%: 6.06±0.03 mm; dan 80%: 12.88±9.87 mm. Additionally, phytochemical screening confirmed that the ethanol extract of neem leaves (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) contained alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and steroids. Conclusion: The study concluded that the highest inhibition zone diameter against Candida albicans was observed at the 80% concentration, measuring 12.88±9.87 mm.

Abstract

Mangrove-associated endophytic fungi are promising producers of antibacterial secondary metabolites. This study evaluated the potential of Aspergillus nidulans DSP 20, isolated from leaves of Sesuvium portulacastrum collected from the Sekotong mangrove-associated ecosystem, as a producer of antibacterial metabolites. The isolate was obtained through surface sterilization of leaf tissue, colony purification, and morphological characterization. Metabolite production was performed by 21-day solid-state fermentation followed by ethyl acetate extraction. The metabolite profile was qualitatively analyzed using thin-layer chromatography, while antibacterial activity was tested against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli using the disc diffusion method. DSP 20 showed morphological characteristics supporting its identification as A. nidulans, produced an ethyl acetate extract with several chromatographic spots, and formed inhibition zones against both test bacteria. These findings indicate that A. nidulans DSP 20 is a potential preliminary source of antibacterial metabolites from mangrove-associated endophytic fungi.

Abstract

AbstrakMoringa oleifera yang dikenal di Indonesia dengan nama kelor dan dikatakan sebagai “the miracle tree” atau pohon ajaib karena secara alamiah sebagai sumber gizi dan obat.Komponenekstrak daun kelor yang ditemukan memiliki golongan flavonoid. Sebagai antioksidan, antidiabetes, antiinflamasi, dan antimikroba, senyawa ini memiliki gugus -OH yang terikat pada cincin benzena. Tujuannya adalah untuk mengidentifikasi senyawa metabolit sekunder pada daun kelor. Ini akan dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik kromatografi lapis tipis (KLT). Hasil ekstrak dan fraksi daun kelor, termasuk air, etil asetat, dan n-heksan, terdapat senyawa flavonoid, tanin, alkaloid, dan saponin pada fraksi etil asetat sedangkan pada ekstrak dan fraksi air terdapat senyawa tanin, pada fraksi n-heksan terdapat senyawa steroid. Kesimpulan terdapat senyawa metabolit sekunder pada daun kelor (Moringa oleifera).AbstractMoringa oleifera, known in Indonesia as "kelor," is referred to as “the miracle tree” due to its natural nutritional and medicinal properties. The components found in the Moringa leaf extract belong to the flavonoid group. As antioxidants, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial agents, these compounds contain -OH groups attached to a benzene ring. The aim is to identify the secondary metabolites present in Moringa leaves using thin-layer chromatography (TLC) techniques. The study includes extracts and fractions of Moringa leaves, specifically water, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane, showed the presence of flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, and saponins in the ethyl acetate fraction, while tannins were found in both the extract and water fraction. Additionally, steroids were detected in the n-hexane fraction. In conclusion, Moringa oleifera leaves contain secondary metabolites.
