Abstract

Gulma merupakan tumbuhan yang hadirnya tidak dikehendaki, sifatnya mengganggu dan merugikan tanaman utama. Melalui perlakuan tertentu, gulma dapat diolah menjadi pupuk organik. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui mutu kompos curah dan kompos pelet dari gulma berdaun lebar dengan penambahan limbah pabrik kelapa sawit dengan durasi pengomposan yang berbeda. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap faktorial. Faktor 1 yaitu durasi waktu pengomposan (5 minggu dan 10 minggu), faktor 2 yaitu pemberian limbah pabrik kelapa sawit terdiri atas 4 taraf (tanpa pemberian limbah pabrik kelapa sawit; LCPKS 50 ml + solid decanter 50 gr; LCPKS 50 ml + solid decanter 75 gr; LCPKS 50 ml + solid decanter 100 gr) dengan masing-masing 4 replikasi. Kompos yang dihasilkan diuji kadar C-organik, rasio C/N, N, P, K, Fe,Mn dan Zn. Data dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA, jika F hitung > F tabel dilanjutkan dengan uji beda nyata terkecil. Rataan hasil pengamatan dibandingkan juga dengan Standar Mutu Pupuk Organik berdasarkan Peraturan Menteri Pertanian No 70 Tahun 2011. Dari penelitian ini dihasilkan kompos curah dan pelet yang memenuhi standar C-organik, kadar hara N+P2O5+K2O, namun hanya kompos curah A dan kompos pelet E yang memenuhi standar rasio C/N berdasarkan Permentan no 70 tahun 2011. Mutu kompos terbaik yaitu kompos curah A dengan karakteristik C-organik 45,52%, rasio C/N 23,26, kadar hara N+P2O5+K2O 11,24%. Untuk memperoleh mutu kompos gulma berdaun lebar yang memenuhi standar mutu, durasi pengomposan disarankan berkisar 10 minggu.

Abstract

Penyakit busuk pangkal batang masih menjadi penyakit yang sangat penting pada Perkebunan Kelapa Sawit yang menyebabkan turunnya produksi mencapai 80%. Sebaran penyakit yang busuk pangkal kelapa sawit yang disebabkan Ganoderma dengan melakukan pengamatan setiap tahunnya yang dimulai sejak tahun 1984 di PT Socfindo. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk memberi deskripsi kuantitatif busuk pangkal batang yang terjadi di Divisi I Kebun Bangun Bandar PT Socfindo pada Blok 66 tahun tanam 1972 generasi kedua. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif menggunakan data sekunder dari data pengamatan serangan Ganoderma dari Socfindo Seed Production and Laboratories (SSPL) tahun 2022 PT Socfindo. Hasil dari analisis data menunjukkan Persentase Luas Lahan Terserang sebesar 82,35%, Insidensi Penyakit terjadi 13 tahun setelah tanam dan kejadian penyakit busuk pangkal batang pada tanaman kelapa sawit yang ditanam pada tanah yang terinfeksi Ganoderma pada umur 5-6 tahun setelah tanam sedangkan serangan tertinggi pada umur 6-7 tahun setelah terserang.

Abstract

Weeds are annoying plants that can harm the main crop, weeds can grow quickly without being desired and also become obstacles to other activity mechanisms on the same land. The research was carried out in the practical garden of the Indonesian Palm Oil Technology Institute (ITSI), namely the Plantation campus, which has supporting facilities in the form of Oil palm plantation with an area of 6 hectares, this oil palm plantation (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) has diverse plant vegetation with a height of 25 meters above sea level. This research focuses on exploring weed diversity in oil palm plantations at the Indonesian Palm Oil Technology Institute (Medan). By using field survey methods and vegetation analysis, the data is presented in qualitative descriptive form. This research reveals the types and distribution of weeds present, providing in-depth insight into the diversity of oil palm plantation ecosystems. The findings of this study show variations in weed vegetation and types that influence ecosystem balance. This research provides an important basis for further understanding of weed dynamics in oil palm plantations, creating a foundation for the development of more appropriate and sustainable management strategies.

Abstract

Palm oil midrib can also be used as a base for composting. Palm fronds which have been underutilized by the community and are more wasteful are usually only stacked around the tree. One way to use oil palm leaf fronds as a source of plant nutrients is in the form of compost. Palm oil fronds contain high lignin, so the process of composting oil palm fronds takes a long time. The process of decomposition of oil palm fronds naturally takes a long time which is around 3-4 months. This study will analyze the feasibility of utilizing corn meal as a compost material for oil palm fronds, corn meal is used as an energy source for microorganisms to accelerate the decomposition of oil palm fronds.This research was conducted in the greenhouse of the Agricultural Agribusiness College of Agriculture (STIPAP) Medan. When the research was conducted for 3 months, from March to May 2019. Palm oil fronds composting is 50 kilograms with a production cost of Rp 1,121,308 and a total income of Rp 1,200,000. The net profit of making oil palm frond compost is Rp. 78,692. BEB the price of making palm oil compost is Rp. 22,426 while the selling price of compost is Rp. 24,000. The BEP of producing oil palm fronds compost obtained is 47 kilograms while the amount of production of oil palm frond compost making is 50 kilograms so it can be interpreted that BEP production of oil palm frond composting is profitable because the amount of production of BEP production is greater. R / C ratio, which is the ratio of total receipts with total production costs has an R / C value of 1.07, then the R / C value can be greater than 1, it can be interpreted that the R / C value of making compost makes a profit. B / C ratio, which is the ratio of profits to total production costs has a B / C value of 0.07, thus the B / C value is smaller than 1. Then it can be interpreted that the B / C value of making compost does not benefit or is not feasible to run in the production of 50 kilograms. Keywords: palm fronds, compost, corn meal, break event point

Abstract

Oil palm is a plantation crop that has an important role in Indonesia today. This plant is a plant that produces vegetable oil and its derivative products. The processing of oil palm empty bunches into particle board as a strategy for utilizing solid waste from oil palm processing has been carried out. The test was carried out to determine the hardness, weight and moisture content to produce particle board. The board making was carried out in April - August 2020. The location was at the Laboratory of Soil and Fertilizer at the College of Agricultural Agribusiness and Plantation (STIPAP) and the Laboratory of Industrial Chemistry Polytechnic Medan (PTKI). The results showed that the largest water content of oil palm empty fruit bunches was obtained by 44%, then for the weight of the content obtained 1.131 gr / cm3 with a ratio of 50% oil palm empty bunches fiber and 50% resin adhesive and a hardness test value of 76 kg. . The moisture content can affect the resistance and weight of the particle board so that drying is necessary. Meanwhile, the weight of the contents has an effect on particle density, thereby increasing the hardness of the material.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian batang adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penyakit busuk terhadap populasi tanaman kelapa sawit. Penelitian dilakukan di Afdeling V Kebun Sei Baleh PT Bakrie Sumatera Plantations Tbk sejak Juli-September 2020. Desain deskriptif dengan pengumpulan data sekunder. Data yang diperoleh adalah data inventarisasi tanaman kelapa sawit yang terserang Ganoderma pada tahun 2015-2019. Faktor yang diperhatikan adalah informasi dasar mengenai perkebunan, penurunan populasi/kepadatan tanaman per hektar (SPH), rekapitulasi inventarisasi pohon, dan memutuskan untuk menjaga populasi tanaman. Kesimpulannya, serangan penyakit busuk batang merugikan populasi tanaman kelapa sawit di Perkebunan Afdeling V Sei Baleh PT. Bakrie Sumatera Plantations Tbk. Intensitas serangan Ganoderma ditentukan oleh beberapa faktor seperti kurang memadainya lahan budidaya, curah hujan yang tinggi, dan umur tanaman. Upaya perusahaan untuk mempertahankan jumlah tegakan utama melibatkan penimbunan.

Abstract

Coffee as one of Indonesia's plantation commodities that has very good development potential, considering that coffee consumption in Indonesia is still very high. Currently, the problem that occurs in Simalungun Regency is the conventional drying technology which is at risk of inconsistency in quality and taste so it needs to be fixed and given a solution. The partner team is the Mitra Sejati Jaya Cooperative, where community service activities are carried out in the Sait Buttu area, Pematang Sidamanik District, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra which is one of the locations for planting Arabica coffee. The purpose of this activity is to create intelligent IT-based appropriate tools and technologies, namely the ARDUINO UNO Smart Sweetener as a solution to the problems of partners and coffee processing community groups, then improve coffee farmers in supporting improvements in the quality of Arabica coffee taste through efficient, portable, and environmentally friendly smart drying technology. The solution that can be provided is in the form of community service activities carried out by a team of lecturers and students from the Institut Teknologi Sawit Indonesia (ITSI) in the form of extension methods, socialization and education related to the technical innovation of the tool called the ARDUINO UNO Smart Sweetener. This community service activity was carried out for ±60 days consisting of the preparation stage consisting of a survey of completeness and preparation, assembly and finishing and pre-test, socialization and education and implementation of community service activities by ITSI lecturers and students. The activity was attended by people who are members of the Coffee Farmers, the Mitra Sejati Jaya cooperative partner team, local residents, lecturers from ITSI and supported by ITSI students. The results of this community service activity were able to educate the community in the Innovation of Mechanical Coffee Dryers.ABSTRAKKopi sebagai salah satu komoditas Perkebunan Indonesia yang memiliki potensi pengembangan masih sangat baik, mengingat konsumsi kopi di Indonesia masih sangat tinggi. Saat ini, permasalahan yang terjadi di Kabupaten Simalungun ialah teknologi pengeringan yang masih konvensional yang beresiko terhadap inkonsistensi mutu dan cita rasa sehingga perlu dibenahi dan diberi solusi. Tim mitra adalah Koperasi Mitra Sejati Jaya, dimana kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan di daerah Sait Buttu, Kecamatan Pematang Sidamanik, Kabupaten Simalungun, Sumatera Utara yang merupakan salah satu lokasi penanaman kopi arabika. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini dapat menciptakan alat dan teknologi tepat guna yang cerdas berbasis IT yaitu Pemanis Pintar ARDUINO UNO sebagai solusi atas permasalahan mitra dan kelompok masyarakat pengolah kopi, kemudian meningkatkan petani kopi dalam mendukung perbaikan mutu cita rasa kopi arabika melalui teknologi pengeringan pintar yang efisien, portable, dan ramah lingkungan. Solusi yang dapat diberikan yaitu berupa kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan oleh tim dosen dan mahasiswa Institut Teknologi Sawit Indonesia (ITSI) berupa metode penyuluhan, sosialisasi dan edukasi terkait teknis inovasi alat yang disebut Pemanis Pintar ARDUINO UNO. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan selama ±60 hari yang terdiri dari tahap persiapan yang terdiri atas survei kelengkapan dan preparasi, perakitan dan finishing serta pra uji, sosialisasi dan edukasi serta pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat oleh dosen serta mahasiswa ITSI. Kegiatan dihadiri oleh orang yang tergabung dalam Petani Kopi, Tim mitra koperasi Mitra Sejati Jaya, warga setempat, dosen dari ITSI serta didukung oleh mahasiswa ITSI. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini mampu mengedukasi masyarakat dalam Inovasi Alat Pengering Mekanis Kopi.

Abstract

Penelitian dilaksanakan di kebun ITSI Medan. Waktu penelitian dilaksanakan bulan Februari - Agustus 2020. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Faktorial dengan  perlakuan POC daun lamtoro dan POC kulit jeruk. Jumlah polibag per perlakuan adalah 4. Pengujian parameter disusun pada daftar sidik ragam dan dilakukan uji Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) dengan taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian  POC daun lamtoro menunjukkan pengaruh yang nyata pada parameter tinggi tanaman 10 MST - 14 MST  dengan hasil terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan L3 (750 ml) dengan peningkatan tinggi tanaman masing-masing 10 MST (52,08 cm), 12 MST (56,35 cm), 14 MST (63,84 cm). Pemberian POC kulit jeruk menunjukkan pengaruh yang tidak nyata terhadap pertumbuhan vegetatif bibit kelapa sawit pada semua parameter pengamatan. Interaksi antara perlakuan POC daun lamtoro dan POC kulit jeruk menunjukkan pengaruh yang tidak nyata terhadap pertumbuhan vegetatif bibit kelapa sawit pada semua parameter pengamatan

Abstract

Oil palm frond waste is often ignored in Tonduhan Village, Simalungun Regency. These oil palm fronds are often left to dry by village communities without optimal use. So, through this community service, students and ITSI lecturers provide education regarding handling palm oil waste in an environmentally friendly manner and even with high economic value, namely processing palm fronds into charcoal briquettes that can be used for themselves and sold to increase the village community's income. The activity began by introducing the potential of palm oil and its waste which provide benefits and economic value. Then the community was invited to take part in making charcoal briquettes from palm frond waste. The village community was very enthusiastic in this activity. Their knowledge increases in processing frond waste and is very active in this activity.

Abstract

Coffee is one of the agricultural commodities that is a priority for development by the Indonesian government because it has high economic value. Sipirok coffee is a mainstay Arabica coffee from the Highlands, South Tapanuli dictrict, Sumatera Utara - Indonesia. During its cultivation in the field, many problems were discovered, including coffee leaf rust disease caused by the fungus Hemileia vastatrix. This research aims to analysis the relationship between wind speed and rainfall on the development of coffee leaf rust disease (H.vastatrix) on Arabica coffee plants in South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatere Province. The research was carried out at the community coffee planting center in the Sipirok Highlands, in Sampean Village, Sipirok District, South Tapanuli Regency with coordinates 1.64'N99.26'E with an altitude of 900 meters above sea level. The research was carried out by observing weather elements with a portable weather measuring device, capturing H. vastatrix fungal spores with a modified Kyosawa type spore capture device, and observing the severity of H. vastatrix coffee leaf rust disease. The collected data was analysed using correlation and regression analysis with SPSS Version 25. The results showed that wind speed and rainfall had a very positive effect on conidium capture and disease severity. Accordingly, there is a relationship between the elements of wind speed and rainfall on the development of coffee leaf rust disease (Hemileia broadatrix B. Br.).
