Abstract

Human performance is affected by several factors related to work and workplace conditions, including occupational noise.  Noise can affect work and mental performance parameters such as memory, attention, concentration, and reaction time. Reaction time in response to a situation can significantly impact our lives because of its practical implications. Environmental noise invades the learning space and has a negative effect on students' cognitive performance. This study considers the presence of noise factors on students' cognitive performance. High cognitive performance is needed by students, especially in lecture material that requires high memory. Aspects of cognitive ergonomics are included in this study because it examines how people interact with noisy environments. In this study, measuring cognitive performance was carried out by measuring reaction time, number memory performance, and sequence memory performance. Based on the statistical tests in this study, it can be concluded that there is no significant effect of gender on reaction time, number memory, and sequence memory in conditions with noise and without noise. The presence of noise can significantly reduce the performance of sequence memory. Number memory performance decreases in the presence of noise, but not significantly. The reaction time required to respond to the stimulus is longer in the presence of noise, but not significant.

Abstract

In the reality of life, learning requires a process of remembering. In the process of teaching and learning, memory is crucial. Sleep deprivation affects the process of remembering in learning. Memory is one of the important aspects that affect student performance in learning. In addition to sleep duration, the age factor can also affect short-term memory. This study wants to find out if age, sleep duration, and learning duration have an impact on short-term memory. This study incorporates elements of cognitive ergonomics because it measures short-term memory performance to assess how people process information and how they maintain it in their memory. The age variable has a significance value of 0.001. The coefficient value on the age variable is 0.303 and is positive. This positive value indicates that increasing student age will increase the value of short-term memory. This shows that the higher the age of the student, the higher the ability in short-term memory. The study participants comprised individuals in the 18-22 age group. The findings demonstrate a significant impact of age on short-term memory proficiency. Students of higher age groups have accumulated several years of academic experience and have effectively refined their ability to handle memory-intensive lectures through their senior years, thereby enhancing their short-term memory capabilities. Thus, new students should allocate additional attention to enhancing their short-term memory skills. Furthermore, the study reveals that students who consume coffee exhibit notably elevated levels of short-term memory, underscoring the considerable impact of coffee consumption in enhancing this cognitive skill among students.

Abstract

The use of manual labor in production process activities in a company is still required, especially in the process of moving materials or products to the next workstation. This activity is often referred to as Manual Material Handling (MMH). Lifting weights that are not according to standards and MMH activities that are not properly carried out by workers have a risk of accidents and diseases such as low back pain. The analysis used in this study is using biomechanical calculations. Based on the load and lifting posture carried out by the worker, it resulted in 3,885 N of compression force, it can be concluded that the lifting level is included in the cautious category. Through the same calculation, it is obtained that the maximum load that may be lifted in the safe category is 11.28 kg. Lifting with two hands can reduce the load on Fc L5/S1 to 2,423 N, this can be done by changing the diameter of the two-handle bucket

Abstract

The cover on the wheel hub serves to protect the most important components and support the weight coming from the body, so it must be designed as well as possible to support the existing weight. The cover on the wheel hub also functions as a balance when driving so that the cover is made with strong material and is not easy to corrode because the part is often subjected to mechanical pressures. The problems that occur in the Nusantara Energy Manufacturing company (MEN) make researchers want to develop a cover design on a single shaft wheel hub to increase the strength of the cover in receiving pressure from vehicles, drivers, and passengers. In this research, a simulation study is carried out to design the cover and perform static simulations to determine the value of deformation and stress that occurs in the single shaft wheel hub cover. The material used in the cover design is Aluminum Alloy 6061 with a load value of 2177 N and 2912 N. The maximum deformation value on the MEN cover is 0.272 mm, a strain value of 0.007, and a stress value of 730.805 N/m2 with a load of 2177 N. At 2912 N loading, the maximum deformation value is 0.111 mm, a strain value of 0.003, and a stress of 307.538 N/m2. It can be concluded that the MEN cover has a higher static value than the YMMotorcover. There are several factors such as the thickness of the cover on the parts used as supportpoints.
