Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine how high school students' satisfaction with online learning is impacted by instructor involvement and self-directed learning. A quantitative methodology was employed, involving 340 pupils from five different Surabaya schools. Random cluster sampling with stratified sampling was the method used. The learner-instructor interaction questionnaire by Kang and Im (2014), the student satisfaction with online learning scale adopted from Dziuban et al. (2015), and the self-rating scale of self-directed learning derived from Sulasiwi et al. (2019) are the measuring tools used in this research. With a value (R Square) of 0.401, the regression test results indicate that student satisfaction with online learning is significantly influenced by both teacher interaction and self-directed learning. Self-directed learning provided 0.233 and instructor interaction contributed 0.454, respectively, to the total. Teachers should be able to acquire excellent communication skills in this way in order to teach. In addition, counseling sessions are held for students to help them become self-sufficient in their online education. It is well established that students who engage positively with teachers and who possess strong self-directed learning skills would be more satisfied with their online education, which leads to in online learning success.

Abstract

Without parental direction, adolescents living in orphanages face difficulties deciding about their future orientation in careers and educational paths. Therefore, to effectively support them, protective factors must be identified. This study aims to examine the effect of resilience and secure attachment on how adolescents living in orphanages see their future orientation in relation to their education and careers. Purposive sampling strategies were used to select 96 teenagers from orphanages as research subjects. In this study, three measuring devices were employed. The Secure Attachment variable was measured using the attachment model of Bartholomew & Horowitz (1991), the future orientation variable was measured using the Future Expectation Scale of Adolescents (Dwiastuti dkk.,2023), and the resilience variable was measured using the seven aspects of resilience according to Reivich & Shatte (2002). The analysis was carried out utilizing multiple regression. The results of the hypothesis show that resilience and stable attachment play a crucial role in the future orientation of teenagers in foster care. This is supported by the values p=0.004 (p<0.05), R=0.335, R Square=0.093, and F=5.893. Thus, it can be concluded that the resilience and secure attachment variables, when combined, contribute an effective 9% to increasing the quality of future orientation in education and career fields for adolescents living in orphanages.

Abstract

Teacher self-efficacy reflects educators’ beliefs in their professional competence and plays a critical role in delivering high-quality education. This study investigates the effect of perceived organizational support (POS) on teacher self-efficacy (TSE), with emotional intelligence (EI) examined as a potential mediating variable. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 180 secondary school teachers in Jember, Indonesia. The researchers developed adapted instruments to measure POS, EI, and TSE, and employed mediation analysis using PROCESS in SPSS. The results show that perceived organizational support significantly predicts both emotional intelligence (β = 0.1607, p = .0002) and teacher self-efficacy (β = 0.0784, p = .0390). However, emotional intelligence does not significantly predict teacher self-efficacy (β = -0.0457, p = .4796), and the indirect effect of POS on TSE through EI is statistically insignificant. These findings indicate that while POS directly strengthens teacher self-efficacy, emotional intelligence does not mediate this relationship. The novelty of this research lies in its integrative exploration of how perceived organizational support and emotional intelligence interact to influence teacher self-efficacy within the Indonesian context—an area that remains underexplored. Unlike prior studies that examine these constructs in isolation, this study empirically tests a mediation model, offering new insights into the psychological and institutional mechanisms that shape teacher effectiveness. These results underscore the importance of fostering a supportive organizational climate to enhance teacher self-efficacy. The study provides practical implications for educational policymakers to prioritize institutional support systems that directly contribute to teacher development and performance.
