Abstract

Climate change disasters as a result of environmental degradation have become a threat to every component of the Earth's environment. These disasters are strongly suspected to be caused by harmful behaviors toward the environment, including among student groups. Therefore, efforts are needed to promote and empower pro-environmental behavior (PEB) in society. The purpose of this study is to provide information and confirm pro-environmental behavior (PEB) based on antecedent factors of environmental instructional leadership (EIL) and environmental personality traits (EPT), mediated by the New Environmental Paradigm (NEP). A quantitative research method with a causal study approach was carried out involving 47 Environmental Health students who selected using multistage random sampling. Four research instruments were used, consisting of statements adapted from previous research. Data analysis techniques employed were path analysis. The results confirmed that EIL had a direct effect on NEP and PEB, but the effect was not significant. Meanwhile, EPT had a very significant direct effect on NEP and PEB. The NEP variable was found to be a good mediator in bridging the influence of EIL and EPT on PEB. If pro-environmental behavior among students is to improve and its variability minimized, these antecedent factors can be empowered through environmental education and learning strategies, prioritizing NEP based on empirical findings.

Abstract

Background: The School-Age Children Immunization Month program is an annual national vaccination initiative targeting school-aged children in Indonesia. However, a decline in vaccination coverage has been observed in recent years, influenced by both internal and external factors. Key contributing variables include maternal knowledge, maternal attitudes, cultural beliefs, and the roles of healthcare workers, teachers, and parents. Purpose: To analyze the factors most significantly associated with low vaccination coverage among elementary school children. Method: A quantitative, cross-sectional design was employed. A total of 142 respondents—mothers of elementary school students in grades 1, 2, and 5—were selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Statistical analyses included univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using the chi-square test, and multivariate analysis using logistic regression. Results: Five variables met the criteria for inclusion in the multivariate analysis (p < .25): maternal knowledge, maternal attitude, cultural beliefs, the role of healthcare workers, and the role of parents. Logistic regression analysis identified the parental role as the most significant predictor of vaccination coverage (p = .000; OR = 2.234), indicating that children were more than twice as likely to be vaccinated when parental involvement was strong. Conclusion: Parental involvement emerged as the most influential factor affecting vaccination uptake among elementary school children. Strengthening parental support and engagement is crucial to improving vaccination coverage in school-based programs.

Abstract

The background of this investigation refers to the unwise human behavior towards the environment that has a significant impact on environmental crises and disasters. This behavior has made the condition of the ecosystem order worse and no longer able to meet the needs of all its components. Therefore, a strategy is needed in transforming human knowledge, attitudes and behavior so that the environment remains sustainable and sustainable. 21st century environmental education comes as a resolution in solving environmental problems. The purpose of this investigation is to provide information to the public about the urgency of 21st century environmental education in achieving SDGs. The method of investigation is Literature Review (LR). Articles used in the review of this paper were obtained from online databases. The results of the investigation obtained are that the implementation of 21st century environmental education responds to challenges and adapts to the needs of society, especially in dealing with environmental crises that occur due to anthropogenic activities. Strategies, approaches, and models of 21st century environmental education are adapted to the needs of society and the development of technology and information. The movement of the environmental education paradigm towards ESD is expected to transform the way of thinking and working towards a green future. The resulting conclusion is that empowering people's knowledge, attitudes and behaviors through 21st century environmental education must be done immediately in order to achieve a balance of environmental quality and the quality of human life.

Abstract

Abstract

Food sanitation and personal hygiene are essential aspects of food safety. In the Padang Panjang Culinary Market, many vendors are still found to be neglecting personal cleanliness and proper food handling, which can pose health risks to consumers. Adequate knowledge of food sanitation is believed to influence vendors’ personal hygiene behavior. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge of food and beverage sanitation and personal hygiene behavior among street food vendors at the Padang Panjang Culinary Market in 2025. This research used an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of all vendors at the Padang Panjang Culinary Market, totaling 80 individuals. A sample of 62 vendors was selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the chi-square test. The results showed that 54.8% of respondents had good knowledge of food and beverage sanitation, and 58.1% exhibited good personal hygiene. The chi-square test revealed a significant relationship between knowledge of food and beverage sanitation and personal hygiene behavior (p-value = 0.000; OR = 8.143). There is a significant relationship between knowledge of food and beverage sanitation and vendors' personal hygiene behavior. Vendors with poor knowledge are 8 times more likely to exhibit poor personal hygiene behavior compared to those with good knowledge. Continuous education and interventions are necessary to improve knowledge and hygiene practices among market vendors.
