Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the class-based storage method in designing the raw material storage layout at the PT X Bandung warehouse. Currently, raw materials are stored randomly, resulting in inefficiencies such as increased travel distances, difficulty in locating items, and higher physical workload for warehouse operators. To address these issues, the class-based storage method is applied by categorizing materials based on their movement frequency using FSN (Fast, Slow, and Non-Moving) Analysis, enabling more optimal placement.Data was collected through direct measurement of item movement distances in both the current and proposed layouts, supported by warehouse layout simulations. The results indicate that implementing this method reduced the total movement distance from 1,194,342 cm to 948,294 cm, representing a 20.6% reduction, thereby significantly improving operational efficiency. Moreover, the combination of dedicated and shared storage allows for more flexible space utilization, especially for returned raw materials. It is recommended that PT X integrate this method with periodic demand reviews and staff training to ensure sustained warehouse performance and more streamlined logistics processes

Abstract

This research aims to optimize the storage layout in the warehouse of PT X Bekasi Branch through the application of the class-based storage method with ABC analysis. Currently, the placement of stock is still done randomly which causes difficulties in finding goods, as well as long distances and travel times in retrieving goods. This study was conducted for three months from September to November with a qualitative descriptive method. The stages of the class-based storage method are determining the location based on the class where class A (fast moving) must be close to the entrance and exit access, class B (medium moving) does not have to be so close and class C (slow moving) can be very far. The results of this study show a reduction in distance and travel time with a total average distance of 1,361 cm, a percentage of 11.01% and a reduction in time of 20.01%. In addition, it also obtains a class division to determine the distance to the outbound access into 3 categories, namely the fast moving category of 22 items, medium moving of 11 items and slow moving of 11 items

Abstract

This study analyzes the root causes of delays in submitting Purchase Order (PO) documents to suppliers during the onboarding period for new employees in the Procurement Division of PT. X. This problem impacts the smoothness of the company's supply chain and production operations, namely the purchasing process. In the purchasing process, problems occur at the final stage of submitting purchasing documents to suppliers, experiencing delays. This delay reached 59.8% during the onboarding period. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was obtained through in-depth interviews, non-participatory observation, and documentation studies. The analysis was conducted using a Fishbone diagram based on the 6M categories (manpower, method, machine, material, measurement, environment). The results show that the dominant factors causing delays are a lack of understanding of the e-procurement system by new employees, data input errors, excessive workloads for existing employees, unsystematic training methods, the absence of written work instructions, and limited communication in the hybrid work model. Proposed solutions include providing written training modules to accompany learning, post-training evaluations to measure job readiness, and improving the onboarding flow to make it more efficient. The implementation of this solution is expected to minimize delays in PO documents and increase the effectiveness of the procurement process.
