Abstract

This research analyzes the integration of science and religion from an Islamic perspective, focusing on theological foundations, historical dynamics, and its relevance to contemporary civilization. The objective is to examine the concept of integration as a solution to the dichotomy between religious and secular sciences and its impact on the progress of Muslim societies. The research method employs a descriptive approach. Findings indicate: First, the integration of science and religion is an essential foundation in Islam originating from the first revelation (Surah Al-Alaq (1-5), rejecting dichotomies and emphasizing knowledge as a means to strengthen faith. Second, the zenith of Islamic civilization during the Umayyad-Abbasid era (with figures like Ibn Sina and Al-Khwarizmi) was built upon this integrative paradigm, yet declined after the fall of Baghdad (1258 M), triggering an atomistic dichotomy. Third, contemporary thinkers' efforts to revitalize integration aim to counter the hegemony of secular ideologies and the moral crisis in modern science. Furthermore, integration is not merely a theoretical concept but a key instrument for building a sustainable civilization that combines scientific advancement with Qur’anic ethics. This study contributes to educational discourse, scientific policy, and strengthening Muslim identity amid global challenges, offering a model for harmonizing science and religion within the Qur’anic framework

Abstract

At the same time as respect for the status and dignity of women is growing, several hadiths are misunderstood as misogynistic hadiths that demean women. Among the misunderstood hadiths is the hadith which states that women are less intelligent. This hadith in Ibn Kathir's book is used as an interpretation of the QS. Al-Baqarah 282 regarding testimony. So this increasingly gives rise to readers' belief that female creatures are creatures that are less intelligent than male creatures. This article wants to clear up this misunderstanding by explaining the correct understanding of this hadith, by analyzing it textually and contextually

Abstract

The issue of gender inequality has become the focus of deep debate in the context of understanding the Koran. This article examines a balanced approach to interpreting the Qur'an in understanding verses relating to women, with the aim of supporting women's empowerment in Islamic society. Qualitative methods and descriptive approaches are used in this paper. The emphasis on historical and social context in the interpretation of the Qur'an is strengthened to understand verses that are relevant to the reality of women today. Thus, this article voices the need for a holistic and in-depth interpretive approach so that the Al-Qur'an can become a source of inspiration for empowering women and overcoming gender inequality in Muslim society. As a result, it was found that what is conveyed in the Koran actually refutes societal stereotypes that consider Islam to be unfair to women. In its early days, the Arab practice of polygamy allowed men to have multiple wives without restrictions. However, Islam regulates this by limiting it to four or even just one wife. In addition, the Koran and Islam no longer exclude women from their presence in public spaces, by giving them the right to provide testimony. The Qur'an and Islam also pay attention to women's safety by instructing them to dress modestly to protect themselves from harassment. Nowadays, efforts to fight for gender equality in the Islamic world are starting to show promising developments. Most Muslim countries are currently making progress in fulfilling women's rights, although they have still not fully resolved problems relating to women in the Islamic context. In Indonesia, the issue of gender equality is increasingly gaining support with the emergence of several thinkers and institutions that care about gender issues

Abstract

This paper examines the delegation of childcare from the perspective of Tafsir Al-Mishbah and Tafsir Ibn Kathir. The study uses a qualitative method with text analysis to explore the major works of both thinkers. This involves a detailed analysis of verses 35-37 of Surah Ali Imran on the theme of delegation of childcare, followed by an analysis of the relevant Tafsir Al-Mishbah and Tafsir Ibn Kathir. The results of the study show that the delegation of parenting in Islam is a form of transfer of responsibility for caring for children that is allowed on condition that it complies with Sharia, especially maintaining the lineage and religion of the child. Tafsir Ibn Kathir emphasizes the obligation to fulfill the vow and the importance of kinship and spiritual protection of children in choosing caregivers, while Tafsir Al-Mishbah emphasizes the example of Prophet Zakariya as an ideal foster parent. Both commentaries agree on the urgency of vision, religious values, education, and security for children

Abstract

This study investigates the Ottoman Empire’s substantial contribution to Acehnese development during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, emphasizing how strategic alliances, military expertise, and technological transfers enabled Aceh to resist Portuguese expansion and establish itself as a leading maritime power in Southeast Asia. Utilizing correspondence and historical records from both Acehnese and Ottoman sources, the research identifies key areas of collaboration, including the establishment of military academies, weapons production, and warship construction. In addition to military cooperation, the study underscores the Ottoman Empire’s influence on Aceh’s intellectual and governmental spheres through the involvement of Ottoman-trained scholars in the Aceh Sultanate, the adoption of administrative practices, and the enhancement of Aceh’s political legitimacy as an Islamic sultanate. Employing a historical–analytical methodology, the study draws on primary sources such as De Hikajat Atjeh, Adat Aceh, Hikayat Meukuta Alam, Ottoman imperial archives, and European travel narratives. The findings demonstrate that the Ottoman Empire played a significant role in transforming Aceh into a prominent military and intellectual center. This partnership consolidated Aceh’s maritime supremacy, reinforced its governmental structures, and protected its sovereignty. The Ottoman–Aceh alliance exemplifies broader patterns of cross-cultural exchange within the Islamic world and highlights the geopolitical significance of such strategic relationships.
