Abstract

Numeracy literacy is a crucial skill that students must master, as strong numeracy skills can support other forms of literacy. However, in some regions, numeracy skills are still at a relatively low level. This is the reason behind conducting research aimed at assessing the numeracy literacy skills of third-grade students in elementary schools. This research is of a quantitative descriptive nature, involving a sample of 32 subjects. Data collection methods include interviews, observations, and tests. The interactive data analysis model consists of three main steps: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions (verification). The research results indicate that students' numeracy literacy skills are in the low category. This is evident from the calculated scores of each student. The study also identifies, among the six components of numeracy literacy measured in this research, that the indicator requiring the most attention is the use of measurement tools, including topics such as length, time, area, and others. This condition is supported by findings from other methods, which reveal that teachers have relatively low awareness when it comes to using concrete teaching materials. This is one of the factors contributing to the low level of numeracy literacy skills.

Abstract

Education as an instrument of human civilization has a very central role and function in shaping patterns of human behavior both individually and in groups when interacting in society. This paper explores how socialist-humanist religious education becomes the basis of religious moderation for society in the midst of religious diversity and complexity. By using a qualitative research method and a literature review approach to study the subject matter, the answers to the problems in this paper are presented in a descriptive narrative form. The results of the study show that socialist-humanist religious education is able to awaken the religious community to interpret and understand not only the religion they adhere to but also other religions in relation to social and human relations. Socialist-humanist religious education makes it possible to interpret and understand religion broadly and deeply so that it does not belittle the substance of religion only in the realm of divinity. With such a meaning and understanding of religion, the essence of religious people, namely being tolerant and moderately religious, can be realized. Religion is not only understood in the theological-dogmatic realm, but religious messages are also understood in a socialist-humanist sense.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study examines students' numeracy abilities and attitudes toward environmental awareness among primary school-age children. Through an in-depth understanding of these two aspects, this study aims to provide a strong foundation for formulating appropriate solutions and learning methods that align with the needs and conditions of primary school-age children. Methodology: This research employed a descriptive method with a quantitative approach to explore numeracy literacy capabilities and attitudes toward environmental awareness. The descriptive research design was structured to provide detailed descriptions of the conditions or characteristics of the phenomena under study, focusing on "how" questions and presenting facts accurately and comprehensively. Main Findings: The results indicated that 57.5% of primary school-age children demonstrated moderate numeracy skills, while 32.5% fell into the poor category. This suggests the need for educational intervention to enhance numeracy capabilities. Additionally, children's environmental awareness attitudes largely fell into the good category at 65%. However, certain environmental awareness attitudes still require additional attention for optimal development. Systematic efforts remain necessary to improve both aspects. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study provides novel insights into numeracy capabilities and environmental awareness attitudes among primary school-age children from the Malind community in EswambiVillage. The data offers contextual and specific information regarding educational conditions and environmental awareness in this region, which has yet to be extensively studied in previous research.

Abstract

The lack of environmental awareness and concern among school-age children poses a challenge in fostering environmentally responsible character from an early age. This study aims to analyze the impact of the Sekolah Lapang program on students' environmental awareness. Specifically, it seeks to measure changes in attitudes before and after participating in the program and to evaluate its effectiveness in cultivating environmental consciousness among children. This study employs a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest design. Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of 20 statements measuring students' environmental awareness. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive techniques to identify general trends and inferential analysis using a t-test to examine significant differences before and after the intervention. The findings indicate that the Sekolah Lapang program significantly enhances students' environmental responsibility. The average score increased by 16.85 points, with the t-test results showing a significance value of 0.00 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant change. These findings confirm that the Sekolah Lapang program is an effective strategy for instilling environmental awareness in school-age children and can serve as a sustainable environmental education model.
