Abstract

Background: Occupational accidents in Indonesian healthcare facilities continue to occur due to inconsistent implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), particularly in the handling of medical equipment, maintenance of workplace cleanliness, and management of contaminated materials. Methods: This community service program involved 10 clinical staff and included a health education intervention on environmental hygiene, equipment decontamination, and linen management. Pre-test and post-test assessments were administered to measure knowledge improvement, and educational materials were delivered using leaflets and posters. Results: The findings indicate that all respondents (100%) adhered to environmental hygiene procedures, including waste segregation, appropriate use of personal protective equipment, and proper handling of spills and sharp waste. Compliance with equipment decontamination procedures was also high (100%), although 10% of respondents were unaware of the availability of written SOPs. Most respondents performed linen management correctly; however, inconsistencies remained in understanding responsibility for washing and storage. Conclusion: Environmental hygiene was applied optimally, linen management was mostly appropriate despite minor inconsistencies, and equipment decontamination showed strong compliance with established standards. Strengthening written SOPs, regular training, and continuous supervision are recommended to maintain service quality and patient safety.

Abstract

Purpose: The Abdimas team aims to empower Baduy women to read, write, and count, as well as provide health education related to PHBS and demonstrate a healthy toilet renovation Methodology/approach: The community service activities were carried out in Kanekes Village, Baduy Luar, from May to July 2024. The community service approach involved training 40 Baduy women to participate in health education and simple reading, writing, and counting training over three months, including building an example of a healthy toilet Results/findings: Of the 40 who participated until the final evaluation, only 15 remained. This is related to the constraints of the distance to the location, which is far from their homes (activities are centered at the Jaro official residence), and the establishment of a healthy place to wash, bathe, and use the restroom (MCK). Conclutions: The enthusiasm of Baduy women to improve family welfare and increase knowledge is very strong, but it requires support from the local government to assist residents by conducting reading, writing, and arithmetic classes in small groups in adjacent houses. Additionally, there is a need for financial support for the renovation of healthy public toilets. Limitations: The duration of the program may not be sufficient to measure the long-term impact on family well-being and changes in health behavior. Contribution: This community services provides a contextual approach to empowering women in indigenous communities such as Baduy Luar, which are typically seldom reached by modern education and health interventions

Abstract

Background: Stunting remains a public health problem in Depok City, including the Krukut Subdistrict, while community understanding of stunting prevention and the use of local nutritious food ingredients remains limited. This community service program aimed to improve mothers’ knowledge of stunting prevention and strengthen their skills in producing healthy snacks for toddlers, specifically BROCA cookies made from broccoli, carrots, and chicken. Methods: The program involved 30 women from Majelis Ta’lim Ar-Rahman, RW 01 Krukut. Activities included health education, basic anthropometry training, demonstrations of BROCA cookie preparation, and discussions on home-scale production and marketing. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test questionnaires covering knowledge of stunting, child feeding, parenting and care, and stunting prevention. Results: Participants’ understanding increased across all evaluated domains, with statistically significant pre- to post-intervention differences (p=0.001). Conclusion: This program indicates that community-based education combined with practical food processing training has the potential to support stunting prevention efforts and encourage household-scale economic empowerment.

Abstract

Low nurse performance in hospitals is an important issue that requires serious attention, as suboptimal performance may affect the overall quality of hospital services. Nurse performance that remains relatively low is closely related to individual internal factors, such as emotional intelligence and levels of self-efficacy. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence and self-efficacy with the effectiveness of performance among staff nurses in the inpatient wards of Hospital X. This study employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach and involved the entire population as the research sample, totaling 116 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using frequency distribution to describe respondent characteristics, Chi-Square tests to examine relationships, and Multiple Logistic Regression analysis using SPSS. The results of the multivariate analysis showed no significant relationship between emotional intelligence (p-value = 0.188) and self-efficacy (p-value = 0.108) with the effectiveness of nurse performance in the inpatient wards of Hospital X. This study is expected to serve as a reference for hospital management in paying attention to factors that may influence nurse performance effectiveness. In addition, the findings may be used as a basis for developing self-development training programs to support more effective nurse performance.

Abstract

Introduction: Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most frequently reported musculoskeletal disorders among nurses, commonly associated with repetitive physical demands, non-ergonomic postures, and prolonged standing or bending during patient care. These conditions may reduce functional capacity and interfere with work quality. Objectives: To examine the association between workload and muscle flexibility with the incidence of low back pain among nurses at Moh. Ridwan Meukarsa Level II Hospital. Methods: This study applied a cross-sectional design involving 129 nurses who met the inclusion criteria and were recruited using total sampling. Data were gathered through a workload questionnaire, the Toe Touch Test to assess muscle flexibility, and the Pain and Distress Scale to measure lower back pain. Statistical analysis was performed using chi-square tests and multiple logistic regression to identify the most influential variables. Ethical approval for this research was granted by RS TK. II Moh. Ridwan Meukarsa Jakarta, under letter number Sket/249/VII/2025, issued on July 21, 2025.Results: A substantial number of nurses experienced low back pain. Statistical findings showed a significant association between workload and LBP (p < 0.001), and between muscle flexibility and LBP (p < 0.001). Multivariate analysis confirmed that high workload and reduced flexibility independently contributed to increased LBP risk. Conclusions: Workload and muscle flexibility were significantly associated with the incidence of LBP. Implementing workload regulation strategies, ergonomic improvements, and routine flexibility exercises is recommended to support musculoskeletal health and enhance nursing work performance.
