Abstract

Community Service Activities (PkM) by the Church Music Department at GKI Hermon Hollo Him aims to improve the atmosphere of Sunday worship through the integration of various musical elements. The main problem faced is the lack of music that can touch the hearts of the congregation and deepen their spiritual experience. This activity is also a vehicle to enrich the worship experience by using musical ensembles, soloists, song leaders and keyboard players. The method used is demonstration, where lecturers and students apply their musical knowledge in Sunday services at the church. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the quality of worship music. The ensemble's musical performance combines instruments such as keyboard, violin, flute, and saxophone, along with a medley of Kidung Jemaat 387 and Papuan folk songs, creating a deep harmony that enriches the worship experience and celebrates cultural richness. The soloist's appearance and support from the keyboard player add an emotional and spiritual dimension. Song leaders also play an important role in leading the congregation, creating togetherness and quality song delivery. In conclusion, this PkM succeeded in deepening the spiritual experience and improving the atmosphere of worship at GKI Hermon Hollo Him as a whole.

Abstract

Community Service activities carried out by lecturers at the STAKPN Sentani Church Music Department focused on training in creating songs with the theme of religious moderation for junior high school students in Jayapura Regency. Considering the importance of instilling the values of tolerance and harmony among the younger generation, this training teaches basic song creation techniques while emphasizing the role of music as a medium for conveying social messages. Through demonstration and question and answer methods, students are actively involved in the creative process, where they learn to combine technical elements of music with relevant moral messages. The results of this training show an increase in students' awareness of the importance of living in harmony amidst religious diversity. The songs created by students function as a peace campaign tool, conveying messages of peace and tolerance that are easy to understand. Thus, this activity not only improves students' musical skills, but also forms characters who are empathetic and open to differences, making them agents of change in a pluralistic society. Through this initiative, it is hoped that a younger generation will be formed that is more critical and plays an active role in promoting harmony in their environment.

Abstract

Singing training was conducted using the Zoltán Kodály approach for early childhood education and kindergarten teachers in Jayapura Regency to address the need to improve teachers' competence in effective music teaching for young children. Gaps in music education, caused by a lack of professional training, affect teachers' ability to integrate music in children's cognitive and social development. This service activity aims to empower teachers with the Kodály method, which uses simple and familiar songs to teach basic music concepts in a fun and interactive way. This service activity was carried out using the direct demonstration method by STAKPN Sentani Church Music Department lecturers, who practiced using the Kodály method with children's songs. The training results showed increased teachers' understanding of how music can be used as an effective educational tool, such as the Zoltán Kodály approach. In conclusion, the training made a real contribution to improving the quality of music teaching in PAUD and TK and supporting children's cognitive, social, and emotional development through a holistic and creative approach.

Abstract

Church music at GKI Solafide Sereh plays a central role in shaping the character of the congregation and music accompanists. This study aims to analyze the extent to which church music influences spiritual and social character transformation through a qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with congregants and music accompanists, then analyze inductively to explore the meaning of participants' experiences. The results showed that church music is not just an aesthetic element, but also a spiritual medium that strengthens moral values, builds solidarity, and provides inspiration in facing life's challenges. Congregants reported deep emotional and spiritual experiences when participating in worship music. For musical accompanists, the process of learning and serving builds character traits such as discipline, responsibility, and confidence. In conclusion, church music has transformative power in shaping the character of congregants and accompanists, making it an important element in the development of spirituality and morality of the faith community. These findings provide new insights into the relevance of music as a means of character building in the modern era.

Abstract

Keindahan musik yang kaya akan ekspresi dan emosi adalah vokal rohani negro yang ditemukan dalam paduan suara. Melodi spiritual yang berasal dari keturunan Afrika sering kali mengartikulasikan pesan yang mendalam dan memotivasi. Penelitian inibertujuan untuk membantu para mahasiswa dalam pengembangan keterampilan bermusik, termasuk harmoni, ritme, dan mendengarkan musik, melalui latihan dan penampilan gabungan dalam paduan suara, selain meningkatkan teknik vokal seperti kontrol nafas, intonasi, dinamika, dan ekspresi vokal dalam penampilan mereka. Selain itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan pengalaman budaya dan spiritual yang mendalam kepada para siswa dengan menyelidiki dan menafsirkan melodi spiritual dari tradisi Negro. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif desktiptif untuk mengungkapkan fakta yang ada dilapangan. Pengolahan data didapatkan dari observasi dan wawancara. Dalam pemebelajaran paduan suara menggunakan vokal negro spiritual yang dilakukan pada mahasiswa STAKPN Sentani, ada beberapa teknik yang dilakukan seperti: memahami sejarah dan konteks Negro Spiritual, belajar lagu simpel negro spiritual, teknik vokal, harmoni dan dinamika serta belajar irama. Salah satu lagu yang biasa digunakan dalam paduan suara adalah “Were You There (When They Crucified My Lord)”.

Abstract

Masalah sosial emosional anak di SD Inpres Doyo Baru, seperti rendahnya keberanian berbicara, interaksi yang terbatas antar kelompok budaya, dan kurangnya empati, mendorong perlunya intervensi berbasis kontekstual. Program Funshare dikembangkan sebagai upaya pengabdian masyarakat untuk meningkatkan keterampilan sosial emosional anak melalui pendekatan partisipatif dan kolaboratif. Kegiatan dilaksanakan selama tiga hari, terdiri dari enam sesi tematik yang melibatkan permainan edukatif, diskusi kelompok, dan aktivitas berbagi. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui observasi langsung, catatan fasilitator, dan wawancara dengan guru. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada aspek kerja sama (80%), kemampuan bersosialisasi (75%), ekspresi emosi (70%), dan empati (60%). Anak-anak menjadi lebih terbuka, berani berbicara, dan aktif menjalin hubungan sosial lintas kelompok. Kegiatan ini berdampak pada terciptanya lingkungan belajar yang inklusif dan mendukung pengembangan karakter anak. Funshare terbukti sebagai model efektif dalam menumbuhkan keterampilan sosial emosional anak di lingkungan pendidikan dasar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk; (1)Mengetahui penerapan metode Kodaly dalam proses pelatihan paduan suara pada paduan suara anak Jemaat GKI Solafide Sereh, (2) mengetahui faktor apa sajakah yang dapat mempengaruhi penerapan metode Kodaly dalam proses pelatihan paduan suara pada paduan suara anak Jemaat GKI Solafide Sereh (3) untuk mengetahui dampak dari pembelajaran paduan suara dengan menggunakan Metode Kodali pada paduan suara anak Jemaat GKI Solafide Sereh. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan Deskriptif Kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisa data yang digunakan adalah Reduksi data, Penyajian data, dan Penarikan kesimpulan, Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah: (1) penelitian ini dilaksanakan berdasarkan rancangan dan jadwal pelatihan yang telah disiapkan oleh pelatih, proses pelatihan dilakukan secara tatap muka,partitur lagu sebagai perangkat dalam proses pelatihan, (2) faktor pendukung dan faktor penghambat dalam proses pelatihan dipengaruhi oleh dua faktor yaitu faktor internal dan faktor eksternal. Faktor internal yaitu (1) Paduan Suara GKI Solafide memiliki pelatih dengan musikalitas yang baik; (2) Paduan suara GKI Solafide memiliki sarana dan prasarana yang memadai untuk menunjang pelaksanaan latihan seperti gedung gereja, keyboar, stand partitur dan lain-lain. Faktor eksternal yaitu (1) Kurangnya pemahaman anak-anak anggota paduan suara dalam membaca notasi dan (2) Penerapan metode Kodaly merupakan hal baru bagi anak-anak sehingga butuh waktu yang lebih lama pada saat proses latihan menggunakan rhythm syllabels dan hand sign.
