Abstract

Crisis management is an important aspect in Public Relations (PR) practice, especially in the digital era when public perception can change rapidly due to the dynamics of social media. One phenomenon that often causes a reputation crisis for companies is cancel culture, a collective movement that rejects individuals or brands that are considered to be in conflict with certain social values. This phenomenon is increasingly widespread, one of which is affecting a local beauty company, Scarlett Whitening. The cancel culture movement #BoikotScarlett emerged due to a video uploaded by Scarlett Whitening's CEO on Instagram that was considered to be siding with Israel in the midst of the Israel-Palestine conflict. This sparked public criticism and calls for a boycott that spread widely on social media, thus impacting the brand's reputation and decreasing consumer interest. This study aims to analyze how Scarlett Whitening's crisis management is carried out in dealing with cancel culture, as well as the factors that encourage people's involvement in this movement. The theory used is the New Social Movement theory which explains how social groups gather and act to resolve issues that are considered important. The research method used is qualitative with a constructivism paradigm, and data collection techniques through interviews and literature studies. The results of the study show that the cancel culture #BoikotScarlett is a real example of how social media can mobilize public opinion and change a brand's image in a short time. Although Scarlett Whitening has made clarifications and crisis communication strategies, the response is considered less firm, making the boycott movement still continue. This study emphasizes that companies need to implement more effective and careful issue management strategies in their corporate communication practices to avoid the negative impacts of cancel culture and maintaining brand reputation. The results of the study show that most consumers who stopped using Scarlett products have various reasons, including perceptions of product quality that are considered mediocre and brand involvement in controversial issues that trigger dissatisfaction. Triangulation analysis shows that consumers expect rebranding and more transparency from Scarlett Whitening in dealing with circulating issues. Key recommendations for the brand include improving product quality, more effective communication strategies in dealing with crises, and more transparent policies on social issues that concern consumers. Thus, this study provides insights for companies in managing reputation and maintaining customer trust in the digital era."

Abstract

The fashion industry significantly impacts the environment, especially through textile waste from fast fashion. In 2021, Indonesia produced around 2.3 million tons of textile waste. This study explores the sustainability strategy of Napak Bhumi. This local brand transforms textile waste into eco-friendly shoes, uses traditional packaging, supports local artisans, and donates 10% of profits to underprivileged children through the #Tinggalkanjejakbaikmu campaign. Using qualitative methods interviews with five sources and social media analysis the findings show consumers value sustainability beyond product design. Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to understand the engagement rate (ER) gap between Influencer Generated Content (IGC) and Firm Generated Content (FGC) on the Instagram account @meccafriedchicken.id in September 2025 through consumer perceptions. This study uses a descriptive method with a descriptive qualitative approach and a constructivist paradigm. Research data were collected through literature studies, text observations of the Instagram account @meccafriedchicken.id, and semi-structured in-depth interviews with external and internal informants, as well as specialists. The results show that the reason behind the ER gap is that consumers find IGC more appealing because it combines visual and audio stimuli simultaneously. Therefore, consumer perceptions are formed through the visual appearance of the product, the influencer's communication style, and the comprehensive delivery of information. This study concludes that content type and influencer presence significantly influence the process of forming consumer perceptions of a brand on social media

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) often face challenges in understanding branding concepts and utilizing live streaming as a digital marketing strategy. Limited digital literacy and technical readiness reduce the competitiveness of MSMEs in the digital marketplace. This community service project aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of creative branding training and live streaming strategies in enhancing MSMEs’ knowledge and skills in digital marketing, using a descriptive qualitative approach through a participatory case study design. The subjects included 50 MSME actors. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and pre- and post-training evaluation questionnaires. The questionnaires were developed based on a competency evaluation framework encompassing branding knowledge, understanding of digital marketing strategies, social media skills, technical and non-technical readiness for live streaming, and self-confidence levels. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis for qualitative data and descriptive quantitative analysis for survey data. The results indicate that the training significantly improved participants’ understanding of branding, ability to design marketing strategies based on the 7P framework, and practical live streaming skills. Live streaming simulations, in particular, enhanced participants’ confidence in engaging with digital audiences. The study concludes that creative branding and live streaming training effectively increase MSMEs’ readiness to independently implement digital marketing strategies.

Abstract

PT Mandiri Utama Finance (MUF), as the youngest automotive financing company in Indonesia, has successfully recorded assets exceeding IDR 10 trillion and competes with major players in the industry. However, the company experienced a significant decline in financing volume, not only among new consumers but also within the Additional Order (AO) and Repeat Order (RO) segments, which are vital components of MUF’s customer ecosystem. This downturn is also reflected in the declining scores of the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) and Net Promoter Score (NPS). This study aims to explore the implementation of the Electronic Customer Relationship Management (E-CRM) program in shaping Positive Word of Mouth (PWOM) among MUF customers. Using a descriptive case study method with a qualitative approach, this research employs data analysis and in-depth interviews with key personnel involved in the E-CRM system. The theoretical framework is based on Lasswell’s communication model (Who Says What In Which Channel To Whom With What Effect) to map MUF's communication strategies, and the Stimulus-Response Theory to explain how digital messages influence customer behavior through prior interactions and experiences. The findings reveal that the suboptimal integration of the E-CRM system and the limited consumer engagement initiatives, such as loyalty programs and testimonial-driven campaigns, hinder the spread of PWOM. This research offers practical insights into enhancing customer-centered digital communication strategies.
