Abstract

Islam as a doctrine capable of addressing every aspect of the community’s issues, will continue to evolve with the times. Muslims are expected to be critical and to have a moderate conceptual framework in interpreting religious texts. This approach will inevitably influence individual movements and religious practices. Muhammadiyah, as one of the largest social organizations in Indonesia, has a deeply rooted religious movement that extends down to the grassroots. This article discusses the concept of moderation as a religious foundation that underpins the Muhammadiyah Islamic Movement in Indonesia. The research method employed is a literature review of the thoughts and teachings embraced by the Muhammadiyah Movement. From this analysis, the article concludes that the religious foundation of the Muhammadiyah Movement includes moderate Islamic principles, an emphasis on education, inclusive da’wah, and social services. This conclusion provides a deeper understanding of the role of the Muhammadiyah Movement in shaping religious identity and its contributions to community development in Indonesia.

Abstract

The digital era has brought significant changes to various aspects of human life, including how Muslims understand, internalize, and express their Islamic identity. Language, as a fundamental means of communication, plays a strategic role in strengthening Islamic identity amidst the challenges of globalization and digitalization. This article aims to explore how language, particularly Arabic as the language of the Qur'an, along with local languages rooted in Islamic culture, can be utilized as tools for reinforcing Islamic identity. Using a qualitative approach, this study analyzes the use of language in digital media, Islamic education, and social interactions. The findings reveal that the use of Arabic in the context of worship and education provides spiritual and cognitive reinforcement of Islamic values. Furthermore, local languages rich in Islamic wisdom can serve as effective mediums to bring religious values closer to local communities. However, the use of language also faces challenges, such as distortion of meaning on social media and limited digital literacy among the younger generation. Therefore, collaborative efforts from educators, scholars, and media practitioners are necessary to wisely utilize language as a tool for strengthening Islamic identity, enabling Muslims to address the challenges of the digital era without losing their traditional roots and Islamic values.

Abstract

The implementation of face-to-face learning in the teaching of Arabic language in elementary schools is an effort to restore the quality of online learning. Therefore, this study aims to describe the management of face-to-face learning (FTF) implementation in Arabic language learning and the problems faced in elementary schools. The results showed that (a) the implementation of Arabic FTF in Elementary Schools has been carried out 100 percent with learning designs using "gamified" based media and contextual methods, such as snakes and ladders as well as the knowledge trees in the teaching of vocabulary, and (b) the problem of the implementation was derived from the learning process, such as ignoring health protocols, reducing the enthusiasm for FTF learning of students due to more than 2 years of online class. Other problems originated from parents who are not optimal in accompanying their children’s learning process at home. Furthermore, it was revealed that contextual learning media that are appropriate for students' age can make the learning process fun and enjoyable.

Abstract

Abstract

The study on Sufism, spirituality, and kalam has become an intriguing subject within the scholarly realm. Adherents of Sufism focus on seeking the divine presence and direct experience with God. Spirituality refers to the non-material dimension of human existence, while kalam, as a branch of Islamic philosophy and theology, elaborates on the principles of faith and religious doctrines. This study aims to analyze scientific research related to Sufism, spirituality, and kalam. The method used is library research employing a descriptive-analytical approach. Data is collected through literature reviews, including scientific articles, books, and relevant publications related to the study's theme. The findings reveal the dynamics and tensions among these three fields, particularly in terms of methodology and objectives. Sufism and spirituality are often considered more subjective and mystical, while kalam tends to be rational and systematic. However, they complement each other in providing a comprehensive framework for understanding faith and religious practice in Islam. Furthermore, this study highlights the importance of balancing mystical experiences and rationality in developing a holistic spiritual understanding.
