Abstract

Introduction: The Supplementary Feeding Program Pemberian Makanan Tambahan (PMT) Genting is a local food–based health initiative aimed at supporting stunting prevention efforts. The program emphasizes the use of affordable and nutritious local ingredients to improve child nutritional status through community participation. Objective: The purpose of this service was to increase public knowledge and awareness about the importance of the local-based Pemberian Makanan Tambahan program and to encourage the utilization of local nutritious food ingredients as an effort to accelerate stunting prevention. Method: This public service was conducted using a community-based intervention approach involving 40 mothers with children aged 6–59 months at Posyandu Golf, Guntung Payung. Activities included educational sessions, local food preparation demonstrations, and evaluation through pre- and post-tests to measure changes in knowledge levels. Result: The results showed an increase in mothers’ knowledge regarding PMT. Before the intervention, 37.5% of respondents had good knowledge, which increased to 55% after the activity. This indicates that community education effectively enhances mothers’ understanding of local food utilization for stunting prevention. Conclusion: The implementation of the local-based PMT program at Guntung Payung Health Center successfully improved community knowledge and supported stunting prevention efforts through education and local food empowerment.

Abstract

Anemia is a common health problem among adolescent girls, affecting daily activities and academic performance. Low knowledge about anemia is one of the main contributing factors to its high prevalence.   This study aims to determine the effectiveness of poster media in increasing knowledge about anemia among female students at the Arrahmah Modern Islamic Boarding School. This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 66 students at Modern Arrahmah Islamic Boarding School were selected using simple random sampling. A structured questionnaire was used for pretest and posttest, and data were analyzed using the McNemar test.  Before the intervention, most respondents had moderate knowledge (60.6%), which increased to 87.9% in the high category after the intervention. The McNemar test showed a Chi-Square value of 22.132 with a p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05).  Poster media significantly improves students' knowledge about anemia. It is recommended as a simple yet effective educational tool, especially in Islamic boarding school environments.

Abstract

Introduction: Medical emergencies require rapid, accurate, and coordinated responses to prevent disability and mortality. Family members in the Emergency Department (ED) hold a crucial role as potential first responders within the chain of survival; however, their level of knowledge and preparedness is often inadequate. Objective: This emergency nursing residency project aimed to enhance the awareness and preparedness of patient families in responding to medical emergencies through a strucred educational intervention at RS Dik Pusdikkes Puskesad Jakarta in 2025. Method: A pre-post educational intervention design wa employed with a total of 120 ED patient family members, selected through lectures, instructional videos, and demonstrations of Basic Life Support (BLS), recovery position, and activation of the 119 emergency system. Data were collected using pre-post test tests and a preparedness questionnaire. Analysis included descriptive statistics and problem mapping using Fishbone, USG (Urgency-Seriousness-Growth), and SWOT. Result: Pre-test results indicated low baseline knowledge, with an average score of 42.5%, particularly in BLS (37%), recovery position (32%), and activation of the 119 emergency service (40%). Following the intervention, knowledge significantly increased to 86.3% (an improvement of 43.8%). The greatest improvement was observed in the activation of 119 (+51%) and the recovery position (+50%). Additionally, 87% of participants reported increased confidence in responding to emergencies, and 98% expressed high satisfaction with the program. Conclusion: The educational intervention effectively improved the knowledge, preparedness, and emergency response capability of patient families. This program is recommended to be implemented as a routine ED activity supported by standardized operating procedures, digital learning media, and facilitator training for ED nurses. These findings highlight that empowering patient families can contribute significantly to patient safety and srengthening hospital emergency system.

Abstract

Background: The management of solid medical waste is a crucial aspect in ensuring the safety of patients, staff, and the public, as well as in preventing environmental pollution. Purpose : This study aims To explore the implementation of temporary storage of solid medical waste at RSI Gunungkidul based on the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Regulation P.56/2015 and the Ministry of Health Decree HK.01.07/2020. Methods: The research employed a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, observations, and document reviews, with informants from hospital management, Infection Prevention and Control Nurses (IPCN), cleaning staff, and healthcare workers. Results: The results show that solid medical waste management at RSI Gunungkidul generally complies with regulations, as indicated by the segregation of infectious, non-infectious, and sharp waste, as well as the availability of an adequate hazardous waste temporary storage facility (TPS B3). Supporting factors include the availability of facilities, personal protective equipment (PPE), a routine budget, the active role of IPCN, and collaboration with third parties. Identified obstacles include limited availability of yellow bags, restricted TPS capacity, delays in waste collection, and inconsistent placement of standard operating procedures (SOPs). Conclusion: Solid medical waste management at RSI Gunungkidul is running relatively well in accordance with standards, but still requires enhanced operational consistency and technical management for optimal performance.
