Abstract

Social media provides benefits for users to express language, but it can also be misused to express hatred, or what is called hate speech. It turns out that certain social media users also carry out hate speech regarding political campaigns in Indonesia. To prevent competitors from winning, certain supporters carry out strategies in the form of hate speech. Of course, hate speech is part of what disrupts the order of human life in the Indonesian context. Therefore, hate speech should be minimized based on the role of education, specifically interreligious education. This is religious education with an interreligious approach from collaborative efforts of religions that emphasize ethics. This research aims to analyze the potential of interreligious education in minimizing hate speech on social media. This research used a qualitative method by utilizing previous research and observing user’s behavior in social media content. We discovered that interreligious education has the potential as a collaborative approach in minimizing hate speech and maximizing love speech, as well as rethinking the function of social media. Essentially, interreligious education with its many settings, including in school and virtual space, supports the implementation of religious moderation. Social media users and religious communities are given the education to prioritize virtues and communicate in an informative, persuasive, and charitable way. [Media sosial memang menyediakan manfaat bagi para pengguna untuk mengekspresikan bahasa, tetapi juga bisa disalahgunakan dengan maksud mengujarkan kebencian atau yang disebut dengan hate speech. Ternyata, para pengguna media sosial tertentu turut melakukan hate speech terkait kampanye politik di Indonesia. Untuk mencegah pesaing dapat menang, pendukung tertentu melakukan strategi dalam bentuk hate speech. Tentu saja, hate speech merupakan bagian yang mengganggu tatanan kehidupan manusia dalam konteks Indonesia. Maka dari itu, hate speech seyogianya diminimalkan berdasarkan peran pendidikan, secara khusus pendidikan interreligius. Ini adalah pendidikan agama dengan pendekatan interreligius dari usaha kolaborasi  agama-agama yang menekankan etika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis potensi pendidikan interreligius dalam meminimalkan hate speech di media sosial. Penelitian ini memakai metode kualitatif dengan memanfaatkan penelitian terdahulu dan observasi terhadap perilaku pengguna dalam konten media sosial. Peneliti menemukan bahwa pendidikan interreligius memiliki potensi sebagai pendekatan kolaboratif yang berperan meminimalkan hate speech dan memaksimalkan love speech, serta memikirkan kembali fungsi media sosial. Secara esensial, pendidikan interreligius dengan setting yang bervariasi, seperti di sekolah dan dunia virtual, mendukung pelaksanaan moderasi beragama. Para pengguna media sosial dan umat beragama diberi edukasi untuk mengedepankan kebajikan dan berkomunikasi yang informatif, persuasif, dan karitatif.]

Abstract

Abstract : Religious moderation is key in explaining the right way of religious life and the obligation to respect other religions. It talks about what is done to humanize humans and reject violence. This is important for all people to understand and do. Religious moderation's nature, significance, and practice form a moderate character. A moderate character fills life with living conditions in harmony, peace, and harmony. This study aims to state efforts to form a moderate character based on religious moderation in everyday life. The approach used is interreligious education because this is interfaith education which is not monologue, but dialogue. Interreligious education is carried out constantly so that it is maximized. The research method is qualitative with the type of library research. This study found that interreligious education presents a habituation of the meaning of religious moderation for life that is not extreme and forms good character in the midst of life, namely moderate character. In this case, a moderate character is a must-have for everyone of all ages. Abstrak: Moderasi beragama merupakan kunci dalam menjelaskan cara hidup beragama yang benar dan kewajiban menghargai agama lain. Ini berbicara tentang apa yang dilakukan demi memanusiakan manusia dan menolak kekerasan. Ini penting untuk dipahami dan dilakukan oleh semua umat. Hakikat, signifikansi, dan praktik moderasi beragama dipakai untuk membentuk karakter moderat. Dengan karakter moderat, kehidupan dipenuhi dengan kondisi yang hidup rukun, damai, dan harmonis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengusulkan sebuah ide yang dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif dalam upaya membentuk karakter moderat berbasis moderasi beragama. Pendekatan yang dipakai adalah pendidikan interreligius karena ini merupakan pendidikan lintas agama yang tidak monolog, melainkan dialog. Pendidikan interreligius dilakukan secara konstan agar maksimal. Metode penelitiannya adalah kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data kepustakaan dari referensi yang terkait dengan moderasi beragama. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa pendidikan interreligius menghadirkan habituasi tentang makna moderasi beragama bagi kehidupan yang tidak ekstrem, serta membentuk karakter yang baik di tengah-tengah kehidupan, yaitu karakter moderat. Dalam hal ini, karakter moderat adalah bagian yang perlu dimiliki untuk semua orang dengan segala jenis usia.

Abstract

The people of Palu experienced natural disasters on September 28, 2018. The event caused suffering in the form of trauma. Society attributes the struggle to the existence of God, as in theodicy. Nevertheless, suffering in human life has spiritual meanings. The purpose of this research was to analyze the relevance of theodicy and spiritual well-being for survivors of natural disaster trauma in Palu. This research used a qualitative method with a phenomenological type. Researchers collected data using interview techniques with five participants who were Palu residents who had experienced natural disasters on 28 September 2018, then analyzed the data through an interpretative phenomenological analysis. Researchers found three categories as themes: natural disasters events, relationships with God, and relationships with others. Researchers showed that all participants realized that natural disasters are devastating phenomena and, in fact, cause trauma. Despite the suffering, they recognized God's goodness, which restores and manifests in empathy and solidarity. Relationships with the divine and others influenced their spiritual well-being.

Abstract

Abstract: Youth have self-leadership in their leadership spirit. They have efficacy regarding their belief in themselves as leaders to work. If leadership indicates a role model, then Timothy and Titus were two role models who represent the position and role of youth from the perspective of the Christian faith. In this regard, the aim of this research was to analyze the relationship between self-leadership and self-efficacy in youth by learning from Timothy and Titus from a Christian leadership perspective. This research used a literature review approach as part of a qualitative method. Researchers found that self-leadership and self-efficacy in young people were related to reflecting the qualities of leaders and their leadership, as in Timothy and Titus. Charismatic leaders are those who exercise their leadership by focusing on God. Leadership means the ability to be selfless but to have an interest in implementing goodness. In principle, the effort to lead essentially contains Christian values, which include an emphasis on God's grace for humans. Keywords: Christian leadership, self-efficacy, self-leadership, youth

Abstract

Christians believe that Christmas is a season to glorify the birth of Jesus Christ. However, the Christmas celebration is an issue intertwined with business realities. Researchers argue that the influence of the Bible intersects with Christmas. Nevertheless, some people use Christmas as a field to implement businesses that seek huge profits for personal satisfaction, thus creating social problems on the other side. This research aimed to analyze the Bible’s influence at Christmas and its implications for business realities in Indonesia. This research used a qualitative research method based on a literature review from a sociology of religion perspective. Researchers used scientific articles, proceedings, and books related to the research variables. This research showed that the Bible does influence Christmas. However, the Christmas atmosphere has implications for business realities that give rise to the spirit of capitalism. In this case, the social problems that occur are pressure and suffering. In essence, Christians reconstruct and rethink the nature and meaning of Jesus Christ’s birth in the Bible. Researchers provide scientific solutions, namely the actualization of celebrating Christmas humanistically in Indonesia.

Abstract

Mamasa’s traditional house, banua sura’, is characteristically built with beautiful and exquisite carvings, apart the building design. It appears in animal images in the form of buffaloes and horses carved based on natural materials, traditional tools, and creative and skilled specialized carvers. The carvings are not mere decoration; there are cultural symbols in the buffalo and horse carvings. The researcher introduced an indigenous Mamasa house through an investigation of the relationship between animal carvings and cultural symbols on the banua sura’ in Orobua village. The purpose of this research was explicitly to explore a Mamasa traditional house as an alternative to cultural tourism development in the Toraja tribal region. The researcher used a qualitative method with a realist ethnographic approach. The researcher collected data using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The researcher determined the participant based on the purposive sampling technique. The researcher found that the relationship between animal carvings and cultural symbols on banua sura’ refers to the meaning of buffaloes and horses. Buffalo carvings are cultural symbols of courage and honor, while horse carvings are cultural symbols of strength. Such unique and original traditional houses can attract the attention of tourists. Ultimately, it implies opportunities and potential for the development of cultural tourism

Abstract

The Christian Foundation for Public Health (YAKKUM) is a social foundation engaged in public health, focusing on all religious communities, including marginalized people who do not get justice. This research aimed to analyze how YAKKUM’s works to liberate the rights of marginalized people from the perspective of De La Torre’s liberation theology. This research used a qualitative descriptive analysis method with a literature review approach, observation, and interviews with credible participants. We found that YAKKUM is a social movement in the health sector that transforms the lives of people with services, empowerment, and guidance accompanied by compassion. Through work units, YAKKUM provides transformative services and empowers and guides marginalized people to live in peace and prosperity. YAKKUM’s efforts to liberate marginalized groups are tangible actions that manifest through a vertical relationship with God and are realized horizontally with fellow humans.

Abstract

Kementerian Agama memproklamasikan moderasi beragama sebagai cara pandang kehidupan religius yang menghindari sikap ekstrim dalam beragama. Fenomena tentang moderasi beragama menjadi bahan penyiaran lewat media sosial, salah satunya TikTok. Aplikasi ini menjadi salah satu alat media sosial yang dimanfaatkan untuk penyiaran religius dengan jenis konten moderasi beragama. Peneliti berargumen bahwa penyiaran konten moderasi beragama menjadi gambaran agama yang hidup (lived religion) di TikTok. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis konten moderasi beragama sebagai lived religion di TikTok berdasarkan teori Nancy T. Ammerman. Dengan berfokus pada konten dari akun yang menyiarkan moderasi beragama, penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan mengumpulkan data lewat teknik purposive sampling dan menganalisis data berdasarkan content analysis. Peneliti menemukan bahwa Lived Religion pada konten moderasi beragama dalam TikTok lebih menampilkan dua dimensi dalam praktiknya, yaitu estetika dan narasi. Jika estetika mengadakan nilai seni perilaku yang menghidupkan moderasi beragama dengan penjelasan konten yang menarik, maka narasi mempertontonkan perilaku yang bernuansa cerita terkait melakukan tindakan untuk mewujudkan moderasi beragama. Dengan demikian, konten moderasi beragama dalam TikTok membuktikan adanya lived religion dan para pengguna TikTok menampilkan praktik yang moderat.

Abstract

Human life moves forward, but no one knows for sure. Likewise, the people never realized that they would experience the events of September 28, 2018, in Central Sulawesi. These events are cases of three types of natural disasters: earthquakes, tsunamis, and liquefaction. These natural disasters caused significant suffering to them. Nevertheless, the memoirs about this incident reminded them of God’s nature and attitude as a faithful shepherd, as expressed in the faith of Psalm 23. This research aims to analyze the relevance of Psalm 23 for people after natural disasters in Central Sulawesi. This research used a qualitative method that involved data collection through observation, interviews, and a survey with a questionnaire. The researcher found that natural disasters made them suffer from fear, loss, and anxiety, but God’s providence was always evident for them to bounce back. Psalm 23 was relevant to people’s experiences after natural disasters in Central Sulawesi. That can be seen from the awareness of God’s grace, which continues to care for them. Efforts to survive, recover, and develop are concrete manifestations of God’s help for them. The common point between the Psalmist in Psalm 23 and the survivors of the Central Sulawesi natural disasters are existential experiences of God’s existence.

Abstract

Ludwig Wittgenstein was a man with significant contributions. As a philosopher, Wittgenstein had an understanding of how to respond to God's existence. Through his thoughts on language, Wittgenstein stated that human have language and regarded language as a game. Therefore, this research is intended to explain God, man, and language according to Wittgenstein. Library research based on a qualitative method was used in this research and was reviewed with the philosophy of religion. In this research, the writer showed the unique religious life of Wittgenstein. For him, language was part of human life which is used for daily interaction and to carry out religious practices.
