Abstract

Kariangau Ferry Port is a port in Balikpapan City which serves the Kariangau-Penajam route with a total of 12 ships per day. Ship operations on this route are not balanced with minimum service standards for ship operations and the ideal number of trips so that when the ship sails it does not carry maximum passengers or vehicles. This research aims to increase the efficiency of ship use based on the current ideal number of ships and trips and minimum service standards for ship operations. The method used in this research is analysis load factor, analysis of minimum service standards for ship operations, analysis of ship needs, and scheduling analysis. Based on the results of the calculation analysis load factorobtained on averageload factorfor passengers it is currently 1% and for vehicles it is currently 57%. The change in ship operating patterns on the Kariangau-Penajam route now from existing conditions, which was obtained through the results of analysis of the calculation of the need for the number of ships and analysis of optimal ship schedules, has caused differences between the current ship operating patterns and the planned operation patterns resulting from the calculations. The operating pattern of this plan is calculated based on the number of trips and the number of ships according to the needs of service users so that ships on this route can carry maximum passengers and vehicles.load factorideal 65%.

Abstract

Abstract

Simanindo Port is a very important ferry port in connecting Sumatra Island with Samosir Island via waterways. In this case, the author compares the installation and activation of AIS and communication devices, but the current conditions are not in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation Number PM 18 of 2022 concerning the Automatic Identification System for Ships Carrying Out Activities in the Territory of Indonesia and the Regulation of the Director General of Land Transportation Number: KP.3424 / AP.402 / DRJD / 2020 concerning River and Lake Ships. Through qualitative methods, the author conducted direct observations of the actual conditions in the field, namely seeing directly the operation of traditional motorboats, boarding and disembarking passengers and AIS installed on traditional motorboats and their activation while the ship was sailing. Based on the analysis results that have been obtained, the KSOPP Lake Toba together with the Water Police and the government have made efforts so that ship operators comply with the installation and activation of AIS and communication devices to support smooth sailing of ships, namely by carrying out ramp checks and coaching for ship operators who are not yet compliant. But in reality, of the 17 traditional motor ships operating, there are still 2 traditional motor ships that have not been installed with AIS, 6 traditional motor ships that have not been installed with communication devices and on each ship that has been installed with AIS and communication devices, it is still not effective in terms of activation when sailing and tends to deactivate AIS and the communication device. So ship owners need to be aware of installing AIS and communication devices on ships and ship operators must also always activate AIS when sailing for shipping safety.

Abstract

Teluk Bungus Ferry Port is a pioneer ferry port located in Bungus Teluk Kabung district, West Sumatera Province. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of subsidising ferry transport on the Padang-Siberut pioneer route served by KMP Ambu–Ambu. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach through the collection of primary and secondary data from relevant agencies, as well as using the ship operating cost analysis method and simple linear regression to project passenger and vehicle growth, ship operating costs and revenue from 2025 to 2030. The results of the study show that the average number of passengers and vehicles fluctuates, but shows a positive growth trend in 2025–2030. The Ship Operating Costs value in 2025 will reach Rp.10,355,532,711.02, with fixed costs, variable costs, overhead profit margin, and depreciation as the main factors. Meanwhile, revenue from ticket sales is not yet sufficient to cover the ship's operating costs. Based on the results of Ship Operating Costs forecasting and revenue in 2025–2030, the Break Even Point (BEP) of 26% indicates that the Padang–Siberut route is predicted to reach break-even point in March 2028, so that in 2028 it can be recommended to become a commercial route.

Abstract

Passenger productivity at the port plays a crucial role in supporting the sustainability of port operations. Predicting the number of passengers at the port can be used as a reference for preparing port service readiness. The Kuala Tungkal Ferry Port, on the Kuala Tungkal – Telaga Punggur route, connects Jambi Province with the Riau Islands Province. The purpose of this study is to predict the number of passengers on Eid transportation in 2026. The historical data used is data from 14 days before Eid al-Fitr until 7 days of Eid al-Fitr from 2020 to 2025. The analysis method used is the FORECAS.ETS method, the application of which is carried out in Excel. After conducting the analysis, the prediction was that the highest number of passengers would be seven days after Eid al-Fitr, with 882 people. This prediction was used as a reference for evaluating the port's service readiness. The evaluation, based on Ministerial Decree No. 52 of 2004, determined that the existing waiting area was inadequate to accommodate the number of passengers expected for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday.
