Abstract

The objective of this research is to identify the effects of market risk (stock beta) across nine sectors of companies in capital market on the return produced during the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia in the short and the long term. This quantitative research uses two variables: stock returns in composite index obtained from idx.co.id as the dependent variable and market risk (stock beta) and the index of the nine sectors as the independent variables. The results of the analysis indicate that four hypotheses were proven in the long term; they are agricultural sector, basic industry sector, consumption goods sector, and property sector. The said finding indicates that, during the Covid-19 pandemic, anytime the stock price and the market risk increase, the stock return of the composite index will drop. Hence, when the stock price and the market risk of those sector rise, the number of investors buying the four sectoral stock will decrease. In the short term, three hypotheses were accepted; they are in agricultural sector, basic industry sector, and consumption goods sector. During the Covid-19 pandemic, any increase in the sectors’ stock price and market risk will be followed by a decline in the composite index’s return because when the stock price and market risk increase, the number of investors

The pursuit of social welfare stands as a paramount objective of any given nation, with the underlying social system playing a pivotal role in its realization. To effectively achieve this goal, governments must enhance human well-being, exemplified by increased investments in education and healthcare. These domains inherently contribute significantly to the amelioration of human quality, subsequently leading to the augmentation of overall societal welfare. The focal point of this study is to ascertain the impact of governmental expenditures on education, healthcare, and the gross regional domestic product on the general populace's well-being, as gauged by the Human Development Index (HDI). The empirical data employed for this study comprises secondary data procured from pertinent sources such as the Ministry of Finance, the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the economic determinants of corruption in G20 member countries. Some of the economic factors that are thought to be the cause of corruption based on the author's literature review are GDP per capita, economic growth, inflation, and economic freedom. The data used in this study are annual data from 2012-2021 taken from the World Bank report and Heritage.org. The analysis technique used is Tobit regression with the help of the STATA version 17.0 program as the main research software to process the data of the research variables. The results showed that simultaneously (simultaneously) the independent variable of economic freedom had a significant and positive effect, while the variables of GDP per capita, economic growth, and inflation had an insignificant effect on the probability of corruption levels in the G20 member countries in 2012-2021.

Abstract

Indicators of government success in development can be seen from the low-income inequality and the depth of poverty. These goals can be achieved through budget realization for the public interest in the form of spending on education, health, and social protection functions. In addition to the government's role, other factors, such as the labor force participation rate and economic growth, also play an important role in reducing poverty. East Java Province occupies the region with the highest number of poor people in Indonesia with inequality showing an increasing trend. With this problem, this study used a sample of 38 districts/cities in East Java Province in 2018-2023 with the SEM-PLS method. The results show that economic growth, education function expenditure, and social protection function expenditure have a significant effect on poverty depth. In addition, economic growth and social protection function spending also have a significant effect on poverty depth through income inequality. Thus, there are indications that economic growth in East Java is less inclusive. The oversupply of labor and the inadequate quality of human resources fail to meet the needs of the labor market.

Abstract

Income inequality could significantly affect a country’s economic development. Therefore, Reduced Inequality has become one of Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs). However, according to the Sustainable Development Report’s website Indonesia’s effort in reducing inequality is still stagnant, this is supported by Indonesia Central Agency of Statistic (BPS) which shows Indonesia’s Gini Ratio is stagnant at 0.38 from 2018 to 2023. Simon Kuznets theorized that income inequality could be the consequence of economic growth that was triggered by the change in the economic sector from traditional to modern. The goal of this research is to analyze the effect of economic structural change, economic growth, and average school duration on income inequality in rural, urban, and all of Indonesia from the implementation of SGDs in 2015 to 2023 using panel data regression in 34 provinces in Indonesia. This research found that agriculture, industry and service sector growth, and mean years of schooling significantly affected income inequality in rural areas, but agriculture sector growth and economic growth sector did not significantly affect income inequality in rural areas.
