Abstract

Religiosity is the dominant factor that determines the level of educational attainment in West Sumatra. Through literature study using the meta-analysis method of ten relevant international and national journals. Religiosity is seen as a potential factor influencing educational attainment in various cultural contexts, including in West Sumatra, which has a rich cultural and religious background. The meta-analysis method is used to integrate and analyse findings from various existing studies, with a focus on variables related to the level of religiosity of individuals or communities and their impact on educational attainment, such as academic achievement, learning motivation, and educational aspirations. The findings of this research are that religiosity factors influence educational attainment in West Sumatra, and there are implications for educational policy and social practice in the area. This research also provides a strong theoretical basis for further research in this area, and can be an important reference for decision makers in developing more inclusive and sustainable education strategies in Indonesia. Abstract

This study provides an understanding of how the Qur'an cares about the environment in the view of the interpretation of al-Qurthubi and the interpretation of the Ministry of Religion. Using a qualitative research method with a library research approach. The results of the discussion state that the interpretation of al-Qurthubi and the Ministry of Religion explain that the Qur'an talks about environmental preservation in 7 themes, namely first) with the destruction of the Environment, the knowledge and power that humans have cannot function, and human social life will also be disrupted. Second) humans are obliged to care for the earth. Third) everything that Allah created is for human needs. Fourth) humans are trusted by Allah to care for the earth by utilizing what is in it. Fifth) the destruction of nature is caused by human hands. Sixth) water is the source of all life. Seventh) Allah grows all forms of plants and fruits that humans can benefit from, the benefits that can be taken by humans are the benefits of consuming and the benefits of beauty when looking at it. All damage done by humans will be punished by law and in accordance with it, both punishments written in laws set by the local government and direct punishments given by God in the form of calamities and natural disasters.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of women in Islamic education from historical and contemporary perspectives, as well as the challenges they face in accessing education. The main focus of the research is to describe women's contributions to Islamic education, identify barriers limiting their participation, and formulate strategies to strengthen gender-responsive Islamic education. The research methodology employs a qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as literature review, in-depth interviews, and field observations. Data were analyzed thematically with source triangulation to ensure the validity of the results. The findings indicate that Islam provides an egalitarian foundation for women in education, as reflected in the Qur’an and Hadith. However, social practices influenced by patriarchal culture often restrict women’s access to education. In the modern era, women have begun to play significant roles as educators, writers, and activists, yet they still face challenges such as conservative textual interpretations, technological access disparities, and limited representation in formal institutions. Strategies for empowerment include integrating gender perspectives into curricula, enhancing the capacity of female religious leaders, and leveraging digital technology.

Abstract

This article explores the thought of Nawal El Saadawi regarding women's rights through the lens of Islamic law and its relevance to the matriarchal culture of the Minangkabau society. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach and library research methods, the study analyzes Saadawi’s autobiographical and fictional works, which articulate a sharp critique of patriarchal systems that oppress women through state power, cultural norms, and gender-biased religious interpretations. The data analysis is conducted through an interpretive-hermeneutic method, aiming to uncover Saadawi’s transformative and progressive ideas within the framework of Islam. The research also incorporates data triangulation by referencing national and international scholarly journals from the past decade to strengthen the theoretical validity of the arguments presented. The findings reveal that while Saadawi's ideas are often perceived as controversial, they align with the Islamic principles of justice and gender equality, as reflected in the Qur'an. Furthermore, when contextualized within the Minangkabau matrilineal tradition, it becomes evident that Islamic feminism has long been integrated into local customs—placing women at the center of lineage and granting them significant roles in both domestic and public spheres, exemplified by the figure of Bundo Kanduang. This article concludes that Saadawi’s feminist perspective and the cultural values of the Minangkabau can serve as ideological and cultural foundations for developing a more gender-inclusive Islamic discourse and as an alternative model for the advancement of women's rights in contemporary Muslim societies.

Abstract

This study examines in depth women's rights in Islam, focusing on three main areas: education, economics, and politics. The background to this study is based on the prevalence of misunderstandings and discriminatory practices against women that are often associated with Islamic teachings, even though such inequality is more likely caused by patriarchal culture and misinterpretation of religion. The purpose of this paper is to explain Islam's fair view of women, analyze their rights based on authoritative sources (the Qur'an and Hadith), and examine the implementation of these rights in contemporary Muslim societies. This research uses library research methods with a thematic analysis approach to religious texts and related scientific literature. The results of the study show that Islam explicitly guarantees women's rights to pursue knowledge, manage property, and participate in social and political life, as evidenced by figures such as Aisha RA, Khadijah RA, and Nusaibah bint Ka'ab.

Abstract

Perdebatan antara Islam moderat dan tradisional menjadi isu kunci dalam perkembangan pemikiran Islam di Indonesia. Penelitian ini merekonstruksi wacana tersebut dan menganalisis implikasinya terhadap hukum dan pendidikan Islam. Metode kualitatif digunakan melalui tinjauan literatur dan wawancara mendalam dengan ulama, akademisi, dan praktisi pendidikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Islam moderat menekankan inklusivitas, kontekstualisasi hukum, dan adaptasi terhadap globalisasi, sementara Islam tradisional memprioritaskan pelestarian tradisi, otoritas ulama klasik, dan interpretasi berbasis teks-teks klasik. Perdebatan ini menawarkan tantangan dan peluang untuk mengintegrasikan kedua paradigma, terutama dalam pengembangan hukum yang relevan dan pendidikan berbasis karakter. Implikasinya mencakup rekomendasi untuk merumuskan pendekatan hukum yang sesuai konteks modern tanpa mengabaikan nilai tradisional. Dalam pendidikan, sinergi keduanya penting untuk menciptakan kurikulum seimbang yang menggabungkan intelektual, spiritual, dan moral. Penelitian ini berkontribusi pada diskursus pemikiran Islam dengan menawarkan solusi untuk mengurangi polarisasi dan memperkuat harmoni sosial. Rekonstruksi wacana ini diharapkan menjadi dasar bagi paradigma inklusif dan berkelanjutan dalam hukum dan pendidikan Islam
