Abstract

Religiosity is the dominant factor that determines the level of educational attainment in West Sumatra. Through literature study using the meta-analysis method of ten relevant international and national journals. Religiosity is seen as a potential factor influencing educational attainment in various cultural contexts, including in West Sumatra, which has a rich cultural and religious background. The meta-analysis method is used to integrate and analyse findings from various existing studies, with a focus on variables related to the level of religiosity of individuals or communities and their impact on educational attainment, such as academic achievement, learning motivation, and educational aspirations. The findings of this research are that religiosity factors influence educational attainment in West Sumatra, and there are implications for educational policy and social practice in the area. This research also provides a strong theoretical basis for further research in this area, and can be an important reference for decision makers in developing more inclusive and sustainable education strategies in Indonesia. Abstract

Islamic studies has long been a rich and diverse field of study, encompassing a wide range of disciplines including theology, law, history, and philology. However, sociological and anthropological approaches offer new perspectives that can enrich our understanding of Islam and Muslim societies. This research aims to explore the relevance and contribution of sociology and anthropology in Islamic studies. By utilizing qualitative methods, including literature analysis and in-depth interviews with experts, this research examines how these approaches can provide deeper insights into religious practices, cultural identities, and social dynamics within Muslim communities. Research findings show that sociology helps in understanding social structures and power relationships in Muslim communities, while anthropology provides tools for exploring symbolic meanings and performing ritual practices. The combination of these two approaches opens up opportunities for a more holistic and interdisciplinary study of Islam, which does not only focus on texts and doctrines, but also on the life experiences and daily practices of Muslims. This research concludes that the integration of sociology and anthropology in Islamic studies is very relevant and important to produce a more comprehensive and contextual understanding of Islam in the contemporary world.Keywords: Islamic Studies; Sociology; Anthropology; Interdisciplinary Approach.

Abstract

This research explores Islam as an object of study and research, with a focus on scientific approaches and methodological innovation. This study aims to understand how scientific methods and interdisciplinary approaches can be applied in research on Islam, as well as to evaluate methodological innovations that can improve the quality and relevance of research in this field. This research uses a qualitative approach with literature study methods and content analysis. This approach was chosen because this research aims to explore concepts, theories, and methodological innovations in Islamic studies in depth. Apart from that, this research also highlights the importance of using information and communication technology in Islamic research, especially in collecting, analyzing, and disseminating data. The research results show that an interdisciplinary approach and the use of technology can provide a more comprehensive and dynamic perspective in Islamic studies. This research concludes that methodological innovations, such as big data analysis, digital modeling, and participatory methods, have great potential to enrich Islamic studies and address contemporary challenges facing Muslims. Thus, this research makes a significant contribution to developing a more effective and relevant research methodology in Islamic studies. Abstract

Artikel ini mengkaji dan mengkritisi tiga disiplin utama dalam studi Islam: ulum Al-Qur’an (ilmu tafsir), ilmu hadits (dirayah dan riwayah), dan ilmu fiqh (ushul fiqh). Dalam ulum Al-Qur’an, makalah ini mengevaluasi metode tafsir tradisional dan modern, menyoroti tantangan hermeneutis dan kebutuhan akan pendekatan kontekstual dalam memahami teks suci. Kritik terhadap ilmu hadits berfokus pada validitas isnad dan matan, menguji keandalan periwayatan dan metode kritik hadits untuk memastikan autentisitas. Dalam ilmu fiqh, makalah ini mengulas prinsip-prinsip ushul fiqh, menilai relevansi kaidah-kaidah hukum dalam konteks kontemporer, serta mengeksplorasi dinamika ijtihad dan taqlid. Melalui analisis kritis ini, makalah ini bertujuan untuk menawarkan perspektif baru yang mendukung pembaruan metodologis dalam studi keislaman, sehingga dapat menjawab tantangan dan kebutuhan umat Islam di era modern. Abstract

This research aims to explore the construction of Islamic science through the study of ontology, epistemology, and axiology, as well as develop educational formats that are not dichotomized between religious education and general education. A qualitative approach is used in this study, with descriptive and interpretive analysis methods on classical and contemporary Islamic literature. The results of the study show that from the perspective of Islamic ontology, all aspects of life are an inseparable unit, including religious science and general science. Epistemologically, Islam emphasizes the integration between revelation and reason in the process of seeking knowledge. From the axiology side, knowledge must be directed to the benefit of the people and the welfare of humanity as a whole. This study proposes a non-dichotomous education model that integrates Islamic values with general science. This model is expected to be able to produce graduates who not only have high academic competence, but also have a strong moral and spiritual foundation. Thus, Islamic education can play a more effective role in shaping individuals with a complete personality and contributing positively to society.

Abstract

Islamic intelligence in Indonesia has experienced ups and downs, both politically and intellectually. The transformation of Indonesian Islamic Information Services, which were initially marginalized by intellectuals, politics, and bureaucracy in Indonesia, to a central position is one example of the long journey of Islamic Information Services in Indonesia. The emergence of Indonesian intellectuals at the end of the 19th century and the first two decades of the 20th century manifested in several names that continued to evolve, from the birth of figures to the emergence of Bangsawan Oesoel and Kaoem Muda. Kaoem, educated youth, or john. The emergence of the Secret Service was influenced by the ethical revolution in the Dutch East Indies due to the liberal economic crisis in the Dutch East Indies. Additionally, this period was marked by the entry of modernist Islamic reformism, which sought to balance the Western secularism trend. The 20th century witnessed various struggles for recognition and political authority. From the late 20th century to the early 21st century, many changes occurred in the economic and political systems, with successive government changes. This period was also marked by an economic crisis, signaling the beginning of the second economic era after the ethical reforms in the Dutch East Indies. Therefore, it can be said that active participation and power struggles took place among Indonesian Islamic intellectuals. Thus, the formation of Indonesia’s political and bureaucratic elite cannot always be separated from the development and changes in the map of Indonesia’s Islamic intelligence institutions. In fact, they have been at the core of Indonesia’s political elite, from the implementation of Dutch ethical policies to the post-reform regimes.

Abstract

This research aims to review the history of Islamic education in the 19th century in the fields of history, problems and contributions to civilization. To take positive values from the progress of Islamic education in the past and take ibrah/lessons from the factors that trigger the decline of Islamic education. Islamic education aims to form perfect humans, carry out religious teachings, create a generation that believes and is devoted to Allah SWT, does good deeds, has noble character, has knowledge and is able to compete with the progress of the times. This research uses a qualitative method, namely in-depth observation of the history of Islamic education in the 19th century, as well as revealing several figures who have succeeded in laying the foundations of Islamic civilization, in building the ummah, as well as the contributions that have been inherited in the world of education, such as: Muhammad Abdh, Rasyid Ridah, Jamaludin Al Afgani, Fathi al-Fawzan, as well as Indonesian national figures such as Syekh Ahmad Kahtib Al Minangkabawi, KH. Ahmad Dahlan, Hasyim al-'Asy'ari, Rahma El Yunusiyah and others. They were figures who contributed greatly to building Islamic civilization. Islamic education figures contributed to the development of Islam so that it was able to reach the peak of Islamic glory during the Abbasid dynasty as evidenced by the birth of famous Islamic figures such as Al Farabi, Ibnu Sina, Ibn Tufail and left a valuable legacy in science. The contribution of written works from Islamic figures becomes gold work and is very valuable as a reference in the world of education

Abstract

Education is one of the key pillars of human civilization development, with two main educational systems prevailing: Islamic education and secular education. This study aims to analyze the dynamics between these two educational systems by exploring their scope, characteristics, and the implications they pose within the social, cultural, and intellectual contexts. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method, examining various literatures, educational theories, and relevant empirical data. The findings reveal that Islamic education is characterized by spiritual values and the integration of religious knowledge with worldly sciences, whereas secular education emphasizes rationality, objectivity, and the separation of religion from science. These fundamental differences result in distinct educational goals, teaching methods, and academic paradigms. Furthermore, the study reveals that the challenges of globalization and modernization have prompted efforts to reform and integrate Islamic education to remain relevant in the face of changing times. On the other hand, secular education is gradually incorporating moral and ethical frameworks as a response to the value crisis in modern society. Therefore, this study highlights the need for synthesis or a more inclusive approach in building a holistic, balanced, and human-centered educational system.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji integrasi antara ilmu agama dan ilmu sosial melalui pendekatan interdisipliner dalam konteks studi Islam. Dalam era globalisasi, tantangan yang dihadapi umat Islam semakin kompleks, memerlukan pemahaman yang holistik dan multidimensional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi cara-cara di mana prinsip-prinsip agama dapat diaplikasikan dalam analisis sosial, serta bagaimana fenomena sosial dapat dipahami dalam kerangka ajaran Islam. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, studi ini menganalisis berbagai literatur yang mengaitkan kedua bidang tersebut, serta melakukan wawancara dengan sejumlah akademisi dan praktisi di bidang studi Islam dan ilmu sosial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi ini tidak hanya memperkaya pemahaman akademis, tetapi juga memberikan solusi praktis terhadap masalah sosial yang dihadapi masyarakat Muslim. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya kolaborasi antar-disiplin dalam menciptakan pendekatan yang lebih komprehensif dalam studi Islam, serta mendorong pengembangan kurikulum yang lebih responsif terhadap kebutuhan masyarakat. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi akademisi dan praktisi dalam merumuskan strategi interdisipliner yang efektif dalam kajian Islam.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pemahaman dan penerapan aqidah dalam komunitas Muslim di Sumatera Barat. Dengan metode kualitatif, penelitian ini melibatkan wawancara mendalam dan observasi partisipatif di beberapa masjid dan lembaga keagamaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas anggota komunitas memiliki pemahaman yang baik tentang aqidah Islam, namun terdapat variasi dalam penerapan ajaran-ajarannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Faktor-faktor seperti pendidikan agama, tradisi lokal, dan pengaruh media sosial turut mempengaruhi pemahaman dan praktik aqidah. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi pengembangan pendidikan agama di daerah tersebut dan memperkuat integritas komunitas Muslim dalam menjalankan ajaran agama.
