Abstract

This study aims to determine whether online based-learning (e-learning) affects students' covert behavior in English lessons at SMAN 1 Barru and explain the impact of online based-learning (e-learning) on students' covert behavior in English lessons at SMAN 1 Barru.  The population of this study was students of SMAN 1 BARRU.   This research is a descriptive study. The disguised behavior of social studies students of class XI SMA N 1 Barru falls into the category of less tingi with a percentage52,14% Judging from the results of the hypothesis test (t-test) obtained a calculation of 1.363 < ttabel 1.692 and a significant value of the implementation of e-Learning 0.182 > 0.05. The R value of 0.231 or 23.1% which means that the influence of the implementation of online-based learning (e-Learning) on student behavior covert is 23.1% while 76.9% is influenced by other variables that are not studied. With this, the implementation of online-based learning (e-learning) has no significant effect on the formation of covert behavior of students at SMAN 1 Barru.

Abstract

This research’s aim is to find out whether the circumlocution strategy effectively improves the students’ speaking skills at SMA-IT Al-Biruni Makassar. This research used a pre-experimental method which consisted the eleventh-grade students of SMA-IT Al-Biruni Makassar as the subjects. The research instruments for data collection used in this research are the pre-test and post-test to determine students' skills in terms of fluency before and after treatment. The result of this research showed that the t-test value was higher than t-table value. The mean score of the post-test is higher than the mean score of the pre-test. It means that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected while the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. In other words, there is significant difference between the result of the pre-test and post-test in teaching speaking skill in fluency by using circumlocution strategy. Based on the findings, the researcher concluded that the circumlocution strategy effectively improved students' speaking skills in terms of fluency in the eleventh grade at SMA-IT Al-Biruni Makassar.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the use of ECOLA technique can improve students' reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension at MA Al-Hidayah Lemoa. This research applied Pre-Experimental design by using Quantitative approach. The population of this stu dy were MA Al-Hidayah Lemoa students consisting of 17 students. Then, the sample of this study is class X taken using total sampling technique consisting of 17 students. The data collection process with pre-test and post-test using multiple choice by analyzing the data using SPSS. The results of the study found that the use of the ECOLA technique in the learning process to improve students' reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension was considered effective based on the data obtained where the average value of the pre-test was 48.82 and the post-test was 85.88. It can be seen that the average value of the post-test is higher than the average value of the pre-test. And proven again from the results of the "paired sample test" analysis using SPSS with a significance value of 0.000 <0.05. Based on the decision making, if the significance value is smaller than 0.05, H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the ECOLA technique can improve students' reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension.

Abstract

Ikan nila merupakan jenis ikan yang banyak diminati oleh konsumen ikan air tawar. Usaha budidaya ikan nila sangat berkembang pesat di Indonesia. Menurut Arif Rahman (2019) Ikan nila memakan makanan alami berupa plankton, perifiton dan tumbuh-tumbuhan lunak seperti hydrilla. Di sekitar kita terdapat bahan baku yang kaya akan protein, yaitu pakan alami Azolla pinnata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dosis pakan alami Azolla Pinnata yang terbaik terhadap sintasan dan laju pertumbuhan ikan nila. Metode penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Januari-Maret 2023, di Kampus 2 Politeknik Kelautan dan Perikanan Bone, pemeliharaan dilakukan selama 60 hari dengan menggunakan alat dan bahan, prosedur penelitian berupa persiapan akuarium sebanyak 10 buah, persiapan pakan azolla dalam keadaan segar, azolla dicuci terlebih dahulu, teknik penebaran dilakukan dengan cara aklimatisasi, penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental yang dilakukan dengan Rancan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 perlakuan (A azolla 5% , B azolla 5% , C azolla 7% D kontrol) dengan 3 kali ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan laju pertumbuhan tertinggi pada perlakuan C (azolla 7%) dengan nilai 5,89 gr, kemudian laju pertumbuhan panjang tertinggi pada perlakuan C (azolla 7%) dengan nilai 3,55 cm. Tingkat kelangsungan hidup tertinggi pada perlakuan C (azolla 7%) dengan nilai 76,67%, FCR (Food Convertion Ration) terendah pada perlakuan C (azolla 7%) dengan nilai 5,93.

Abstract

The application of a scientific approach in learning English is a teaching method that focuses on the scientific process, which aims to improve students' understanding and skills in English. This research aims to find out how teachers apply a scientific approach in learning English and how students respond to implementing this approach. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the development of more effective English learning methods, while increasing students' self-confidence in learning. The research subjects were two English teachers at SMK PGRI Enrekang who had been interviewed and observed, as well as eight class XII students who were selected as representatives through a random sampling method. Data collection was carried out through interviews and direct observation to obtain in-depth information regarding the learning process based on a scientific approach. The research results show that the application of a scientific approach in English language learning based on the 2013 Curriculum is able to improve students' critical, creative and analytical thinking skills. Through the stages of observing, asking, experimenting, associating, and communicating, students not only learn passively, but also actively apply and develop their language skills in real situations. Although there are challenges in terms of time allocation and student readiness, this approach has a significant positive impact on the quality of English learning in the classroom. Overall, the scientific approach is an effective strategy in improving students' English language skills, as well as supporting the achievement of the 2013 Curriculum objectives of creating relevant, structured and meaningful learning.

Abstract

This researcher aims to determine whether there is an increase in Fluency and Accuracy by using the Collaborative Learning Method for class VII students at SMP Negeri 2 Kelara. The researcher used a pre-experimental approach with a quantitative design in analyzing the data. The instrument used was a speaking test consisting of a pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The population was class VII students and the sample was class VII.1 which was selected using a total sampling technique. The total number of students was 25 students. The results showed that after implementing the collaborative learning method in English learning, it could improve students' Speaking Performance in Fluency and Accuracy in class VII.1 SMP Negeri 2 Kelara. This is evidenced by the average value of students who experienced an increase in pre-test students on fluency got 33.76 and post-test got 40.08. In addition, pre-test students on accuracy got 40.80 and post-test got 54.12. From the results of testing the hypothesis of this research are Pair 1, namely pre-test and post-test fluency is 0.000 (p < 0.05) and vocabulary in Pair 2, the significance value (2-tailed) from pre-test to post-test is 0.000 (p < 0.05). Therefore, the used of the Collaborative Learning Method has a significant effect on improving Speaking Performance in fluency and accuracy in class VII.1 at SMP Negeri 2 Kelara.

Abstract

Euphemistic expressions play a significant role in educational discourse, particularly in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms where cultural sensitivity and affective support are central to learning. This study investigates how English teachers in Indonesia strategically use euphemism to manage classroom interaction and provide feedback without threatening students’ self-esteem. A qualitative descriptive design was employed, focusing on two secondary school English teachers in South Sulawesi. Data were collected through non-participant classroom observations, with detailed field notes capturing authentic teacher–student exchanges, and were validated through post-lesson clarification. Thematic analysis revealed seven recurrent categories of euphemistic strategies: politeness markers, softening language, downplaying language, indirect requests, minimization of errors, correction with positive feedback, and reassurance. These strategies were not merely linguistic substitutions but pedagogical tools for fostering respectful communication, reducing anxiety, and sustaining learner engagement. Findings suggest that euphemism contributes to the affective dimension of language pedagogy by aligning instructional clarity with socio-cultural expectations of respect and harmony. The study highlights the importance of integrating euphemistic strategies into teacher education and professional development. While limited in scope, it provides a foundation for further research on the pragmatic and pedagogical functions of euphemism in EFL contexts.

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out whether Instagram can increase the students’ Pronunciation skill. The research was obtained at the eighth-grade students of SMPN 33 Makassar. Using Quasi Experimental by taking 2 classes as samples and each class including 28 students. So, the total number of all samples are 56 students. This research found that Instagram videos can increase the students’ Pronunciation skill. The improvement can be seen by mean score of Pre-test in Experimental class was 44.64 and mean score of Post-test was 66.43. Meanwhile, mean score of Pre-test in Controlled class was 47.50 and mean score of Post-test was 42.50. This research Hypothesis concluded that Ha was accepted and Ho was refused showed by the T-test value was greater than the T-table (6.461>1.703), it means that using Instagram videos can increase the students’ English Pronunciation skill.
