Abstract

This study aims to examine the correlation between PGSD students' perception (X) of self-efficacy (Y1) and understanding of science (Y2). The problem with this study arises because it is not clear whether students' perception of science learning has an effect on their self-efficacy and conceptual understanding, even though their average comprehension score is quite good (Mean = 71.19). This study uses a correlational quantitative approach involving 21 PGSD UPY students. Perceptions were measured using a questionnaire that had been tested for reliability (α = 0.712), Self-efficacy is measured with its own instruments (α = 0.740), meanwhile, scientific understanding is measured through tests validated through the validity of the content by experts. Data normality test (Shapiro-Wilk, p > 0.05) indicates the data is normally distributed, so Pearson correlation analysis is used. The results showed a significant positive correlation between perception and self-efficacy (r = 0.827; p < 0.01), however, no significant relationship was found between perception and understanding of science (0.297), and between self-efficacy and understanding of science (0.220). These findings indicate that students' positive perceptions are related to self-efficacy, but do not directly affect the conceptual understanding of science.

The Primary School Teacher Education Study Programme is responsible for preparing community members who have academic qualifications and competencies as learning agents. This readiness is the main capital for students to do the work of a teacher. In providing education to students, a teacher should have self-efficacy. This research is a quantitative study with an ex-post facto research type. The objectives of this study determine whether there is an effect of attitudes toward science on the efficacy of teaching science subjects. 147 4th-semester students majoring in Elementary School Teacher Education, Yogyakarta State University, were involved. The data collection technique used a questionnaire using a Dimensions of Attitude Towards Science (DAS) Instrument and The Science Teaching Efficacy Belief Instrument (STEBI-B). The study revealed a significant influence between attitudes toward science and the science teaching efficacy of elementary school teacher education students. The results of the analysis revealed that the coefficient of determination is 0.322, which means that 32.2% of variations in science teaching efficacy can be explained by attitude towards science.

Abstract

Students are not encouraged to develop their thinking skills, and learning in class is only directed at memorizing information. In addition, it is important for Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) students who will become elementary school teacher candidates to have good critical thinking skills and a good understanding of basic science concepts. This study describes the ability to think critically and understand basic science concepts in PGSD students at PGRI Yogyakarta University. This research is a quantitative descriptive study using survey methods. The population of this study was second- semester PGSD students at PGRI Yogyakarta University. The research sample consisted of 77 second-semester PGSD students. The data analysis technique used in this study was descriptive analysis by measuring and describing the results of critical thinking skills and understanding basic science concepts. The results of this study indicate that the highest percentage of achievement is on the indicator of critical thinking skills, namely providing simple explanations, with a percentage of 75.45% with high criteria, and the indicator of understanding concepts with the highest percentage, namely the indicator of remembering with a percentage of 87.98% with very high criteria.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find facts that are compatible with the implementation of the independent curriculum on learning interest and also the character of elementary school students who have carried out the learning process by implementing the independent curriculum itself, this research uses the survey method with data collection techniques using observation and also questionnaires while for The population of this study is 10 teachers and 22 grade IV students. The analysis includes validity and reliability tests, normality tests, linearity tests and hypothesis tests with the research results showing a significant influence between the implementation of the independent curriculum on students' interest in learning and character values with a sig value of 0.000 where <0.05, this shows that the implementation The independent curriculum has brought many changes and influences on elementary school students, including the interests and character of students. Therefore, teachers need to use more learning processes with independent curriculum designs in each class and schools can prepare facilities and infrastructure so that they can produce optimal learning processes so that they get the expected results in accordance with the goals of the school itself and improve the quality of existing education in Indonesia.
