Abstract

Effective budgeting is widely recognized as a determinant of educational quality in resource-constrained school systems, yet empirical research on the operational mechanisms through which Indonesian private schools manage budgeting under structural financial limitations remains limited. This study examined the budgeting management of educational financing at SMP Krida Mandiri, a private junior secondary school in Bekasi Regency, West Java, Indonesia, with particular attention to the three sequential budgeting phases of planning, implementation, and evaluation, and to the structural constraints encountered and the mitigation strategies developed in response. A qualitative case study design was employed. Three key informants were purposively selected: the school principal, the BOS Fund treasurer, and the vice-principal for facilities and infrastructure. Data were collected through semi-structured in depth interviews, non-participant observation, and document analysis between January and April 2026. Thematic analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, Saldaña interactive model; trustworthiness was established through source and technique triangulation, member checking, and a complete audit trail. Findings reveal that the school implemented budgeting through the School Activity and Budget Plan (RKAS), grounded in needs analysis, school quality reports, and prioritization meetings involving all units. Implementation followed the BOS Technical Guidelines under principles of transparency and accountability. Evaluation comprised periodic monitoring, accountability reporting, and internal and external audits confirming alignment between planning, expenditure, and regulatory requirements. Four structural constraints were identified: limited funding source diversity, delayed BOS disbursement, increasing infrastructure demand, and policy changes mitigated through priority adjustment, fund optimization, and stakeholder coordination. The study contributes to the literature on educational financing by providing an integrated identification of structural constraints in the budgeting process alongside strategic management recommendations a combination underrepresented in prior research on private school financial management.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has encouraged the transition of records management from conventional systems to digital systems, particularly to enhance administrative transparency in educational institutions. Digital records serve not only as tools for information storage but also as instruments of accountability and decision-making. However, the implementation of digital records management still encounters several challenges, including limited technological infrastructure, inadequate human resource competencies, the lack of integrated archival policies and regulations, and weak management procedures. This study aims to examine the challenges and strategies of digital records management and its role in promoting administrative transparency in the education sector. The research employs a qualitative approach through a literature review by analyzing relevant books, scholarly articles, and regulations. Data analysis is conducted using the interactive model proposed by Miles and Huberman, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that effective digital records management strategies include strengthening digital archival policies and regulations, utilizing integrated electronic records management systems, enhancing human resource competencies, and implementing clear standard operating procedures. These strategies contribute to improving information openness, expanding public access, and strengthening administrative auditability. The study concludes that well-planned and integrated digital records management is a crucial factor in achieving transparent, accountable, and efficient administrative governance in educational institutions. Keywords: digital records, administrative transparency, records management, educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the administration of the Independent Curriculum at SMAIQu Al-Bahjah Cirebon, which includes elements of planning, organization, implementation , and evaluation . Data collection methods for this qualitative study include observation, interviews, and documentation, all of which are descriptive approaches. The findings indicate that curriculum development at the Islamic boarding school is carried out contextually by combining Islamic values and student characteristics. The Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) and intracurricular activities are used in the implementation of learning to combine academic and character development. However, during the evaluation process, challenges remain, especially those related to the distribution of teacher skills. in developing learning materials and assessment systems. Therefore, the administration of the Independent Curriculum has been running quite well, but it needs to focus on improving the evaluation component and continuing to raise teacher skill standards.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) are increasingly required to provide a safe, humanistic, and violence-free learning environment in line with the paradigm of Child-Friendly Pesantren (CFP). This study analyzes how caregiving management and the musyrif system at Pondok Pesantren Al-Bahjah Cirebon are implemented to realize a CFP model grounded in the values of rahmah (compassion) and ta’dib (formation of proper conduct). Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and examined using Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña’s interactive model. The findings show that all managerial functions—planning, organizing, directing, and controlling—are driven by compassion and moral cultivation, leading the caregiving process to prioritize moral awareness over punishment. Value-based planning is translated into a tiered musyrif structure; caregiving implementation manifests through role modeling, dialogic guidance, and psychological support via SiPePsi; while reflective supervision through muhasabah and hisbah protects students’ dignity and emotional well-being. The integration of values throughout the management cycle produces a rahmah–ta’dib-based CFP model that reinforces spiritual character and psychological resilience. The study enriches the theoretical discourse on value-based Islamic educational management and offers practical directions for strengthening musyrif training. Comparative and longitudinal studies are recommended to examine the model’s consistency across pesantren with different characteristics.

Abstract

School libraries play an important role as learning resource centers that support students’ literacy and academic activities. However, the high intensity of book usage often causes physical damage to collections, while restoration efforts are constrained by limited resources. This study aims to analyze the challenges in the book restoration process at the library of SMP Negeri 6 Karawang Barat. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving librarians and students. The results showed that restoration activities were still carried out despite limitations in budget, facilities, and human resources. Restoration was conducted in a simple manner using materials such as glue, tape, and staples to maintain the usability of collections. The study also found that low user awareness contributed to book damage. This study highlights the importance of strengthening preservation management, improving user awareness, and developing low-cost restoration strategies suitable for school libraries.

Abstract

Students' interest in reading stays low, which is a big problem in education because it can lower the quality of learning and the results students achieve. To tackle this problem, SMAN 3 Karawang started the Friday Literacy Program as a way to build a stronger reading culture and boost students' interest in reading. This study was done to explain how the Friday Literacy Program was carried out, find out what helped and what slowed down its implementation, and look at how much it helped improve students' interest in reading at SMAN 3 Karawang. This study used a qualitative method and followed a descriptive approach. The study included the school principal, teachers, and students, who were chosen using purposive sampling. Data was gathered by watching, talking to people, and keeping records. The data analysis was done using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which involves steps like reducing the data, presenting it in a clear way, and then making final conclusions based on it. The data's accuracy was checked by using different sources and different methods. The study showed that the Friday Literacy Program was carried out in a planned and organized way.It involved reading activities done before regular classes, backed by school rules, with teachers actively taking part and having access to reading materials. The program helped students develop a stronger interest in reading, shown by better reading habits, more excitement about joining literacy events, and improved understanding of what they read. The program still faced some difficulties, like students not being very motivated, not having enough interesting books to read, and not managing their time very well. So, keeping the Friday Literacy Program moving forward with new ideas and having everyone like schools, teachers, students, and parents work together really well is important to keep and improve the school's focus on reading and learning.
