The type of research used is descriptive quantitative. The research population is all breeders who have a partnership with PT. X as many as 39 breeders were used as samples. Data collection was carried out through interviews with the help of a questionnaire. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive statistics using a frequency distribution table. The research results show that social capital (trust, network, reciprocity, and norms) in the partnership system between broiler chicken breeders and PT. X Makassar Branch, namely for mutual trust the score obtained was 75.8 in the unfavorable category, the norms score obtained was 76.6 in the unfavorable category, the network score obtained was 76 in the unfavorable category and the reciprocity score obtained was namely 79.6 in the good category. Abstract

The low income of duck farmers in Sidrap Regency is caused by a lack of knowledge about business management and limited types of products produced. This community service activity aims to improve the skills of farmers through business management counseling and livestock product processing training. The methods used are group counseling and direct practice training in making processed duck egg products, namely salted eggs with pandan flavor variants. The results show a significant increase in farmers' knowledge about good business management, strengthening duck farmer group institutions, digital marketing and duck egg processing techniques, namely salted duck eggs with pandan flavor variants. In addition, new processed products have emerged that are diversified and have added value. Thus, farmers become more independent, competitive, and able to increase family income. This activity makes a positive contribution to the development of the duck farming sector in Sidrap Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of agricultural extension officers in the development of the Pattiro Kondoe Farmer Group in Saharu Hamlet, Lamatti Riattang Village, Bulupoddo District, Sinjai Regency. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with the support of quantitative data through a Likert scale questionnaire, this study involved 18 active members of the farmer group who were purposively selected. Five main roles of extension workers were studied, including facilitator, innovator, motivator, dynamizer, and educator. The results showed that the roles of extension workers as innovators and facilitators scored the highest in the excellent category, followed by the other roles with good scores. Nevertheless, a number of barriers were found, such as limited field visits, farmers' dependence on external assistance, and low participation of certain members. These findings point to the importance of continued support for extension workers, strengthening of participatory mentoring models, and the need for more relevant agricultural technology training. This study recommends that agricultural policies in remote areas pay more attention to the sustainability of the role of extension workers in strengthening farmers' institutions independently.

Abstract

The vulnerability of agrarian communities to shocks, seasonality, and long-term trends is a complex challenge that requires holistic analysis. This study aims to analyze the dynamic interaction between the three dimensions of vulnerability (shock-seasonality-trend) in agrarian communities in disaster-prone areas, using a holistic approach that fills the gap in previous literature, which tends to be partial. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews (25 key informants), focus group discussions (4 sessions), and secondary document analysis. The findings reveal that: (1) Shocks such as natural disasters and disease outbreaks weaken economic resilience due to infrastructure damage and health costs; (2) Seasonal pressures (pest attacks, price fluctuations) increase income instability, exacerbated by dependence on monoculture and limited market access; (3) Long-term trends (droughts, climate change) threaten agricultural sustainability through extreme weather and declining land productivity. Community adaptation strategies include crop diversification, the formation of savings and loan groups, and the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, but these are hampered by a lack of institutional and technological support. This study highlights the need for integrated policies that combine ecosystem-based mitigation, strengthening early warning systems, and climate resilience training programs. The study's implications contribute to the literature on multidimensional vulnerability and provide practical recommendations for achieving sustainable community resilience.

Abstract

Abstract

The cattle-oil palm integration system (SISKA) is an alternative livestock business development that utilizes the synergy between oil palm plantations and beef cattle. However, the implementation of this system at the farmer level is still limited. This study aims to analyze farmers' willingness to adopt the cattle-oil palm integration system and the factors that influence it in Keera District, Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi. The study was conducted in May–July 2025 using a survey method on 80 farmers selected purposively based on the Events per Variable (EPV) guidelines. Data analysis used binary logistic regression with independent variables including farmer characteristics, access to information, perceived benefits, group membership, extension intensity, and capital support. The results showed that perceived benefits and capital support significantly influenced farmers' willingness to adopt SISKA, while the variables of age, land area, farming experience, access to information, group membership, and extension intensity did not. Scientifically, these findings confirm that the adoption of innovations among smallholder plantation farmers is more influenced by perceived economic benefits and access to resources than by sociodemographic factors or formal institutions. Policy implications indicate the need for a SISKA development strategy that focuses on demonstrating tangible benefits and providing accessible financing schemes to reduce initial investment barriers for smallholder farmers, as well as developing extension strategies that are more tailored to the conditions of farmers in the study area.

Abstract

The Cattle and Buffalo Business Insurance (CBBI) program, launched by the Indonesian government, aims to provide financial protection to smallholder farmers against livestock deaths or losses. This study investigates the impact of farmers' knowledge on their engagement with the CBBI program in Timbuseng Village, situated in the North Polongbangkeng District of Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. A cross-sectional descriptive quantitative analysis was conducted using primary data collected through structured questionnaires from a sample of 74 beef cattle farmers. Fisher's exact test was employed in a bivariate analysis to evaluate the link between farmers' understanding of CBBI objectives, registration procedures, premiums, and claim procedures and their participation in the program. All data were processed using STATA 14.2 software. The study findings reveal a robust and statistically significant correlation between the four types of knowledge about the CBBI program and their involvement in the program. Addressing knowledge gaps and simplifying processes could enhance CBBI program adoption to support sustainable livestock production and strengthen smallholder farmers' resilience in Indonesia.
