Abstract

The minimum age requirement for candidates running for president and vice president has changed as a result of the Republic of Indonesia's Constitutional Court's judgment (number 104/PUU-XXI/2023). This decision is an important step in ensuring that candidates have the right qualifications to lead a country. This study aims to examine the implications and impacts of the age limit on the democratic process and leadership in Indonesia. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a normative juridical approach through literature study. The data collection technique in this research is by analyzing the literature, decisions of the constitutional court, books, scientific articles, and various other scientific reading sources related to the material discussed in this study, namely the Age Limit for Presidential / Vice Presidential Candidates (Legal Analysis of MKRI Decision No. 104 / PUU-XII / 2020). As per Law Number 7 of 2017 respecting General Elections (Election Law), Article 169 letter q, five applications cannot be accepted regarding the age limit of presidential and vice presidential candidates (presidential and vice presidential candidates). Case Numbers 102/PUU-XXI/2023, 104/PUU-XXI/2023, 107/PUU-XXI/2023, 96/PUU-XXI/2023, and 93/PUU-XXI/2023 were discussed. The Decision Enunciation Session was held on Monday, October 23, 2023, in the Plenary Session Room of the Constitutional Court of Republik of Indonesia. Following the ruling of the Constitutional Court (No. 104/PUU-XXI/2023), it has brought changes in the interpretation and application of the minimum age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates with significant implications for future elections.

Abstract

Citizenship education is important to teach students and young people the values ​​and skills of being active citizens. The aim of this research is to build student character who is developing in the current digital era. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach. The data collection technique used is through literature analysis, such as books, scientific articles, and various sources relevant to this research, namely building student awareness about the importance of citizenship education in the digital era. In the current digital era, citizenship education is very important as a control tool in accepting change so that students do not lose their identity in realizing the golden generation of the Indonesian nation. The role of technology as a means to make it easier to teach civics education to students. With the help of various supports such as parents, teachers, government and society. Apart from being students, students must also become citizens who have a sense of nationalism and defend the country, by applying Pancasila values, be active in the democratic political process, and be able to encourage the surrounding community as agents of change. The challenge of using technology as an educational tool is that students are easily influenced by fake news, not all students have devices and internet connections, students and teaching staff still lack skills in implementing IT (Information Technology). By linking citizenship education to digitalization, it will be easier to provide teaching because students can explore diversity which is quite minimal if we get information directly, then students can find out about the diversity that exists in Indonesia and the world.

Abstract

Student discipline is a crucial aspect in the world of education that directly affects the effectiveness of the learning process. This study aims to analyze the implications of punishment on student discipline using a behaviorist learning theory approach. In this theory, punishment functions as a consequence that reduces unwanted behavior, while positive reinforcement aims to encourage expected behavior. A case study of Mrs. Supriyani, a teacher accused of committing violence against students, is the focus of this study. The results of the study indicate that punishment given appropriately and consistently can build a deterrent effect and increase student discipline. However, excessive or unfair punishment tends to have negative impacts, such as emotional resistance and damaged teacher-student relationships. To achieve more effective discipline, a combination of educational punishment and positive reinforcement is needed so that students not only understand the bad consequences of violations but are also motivated to demonstrate good behavior. Prospects for further development of this research include the implementation of restorative justice methods in conflict resolution and strengthening the role of teachers as learning facilitators who educate without having to cause fear.

Abstract

Modernisasi telah membawa perubahan fundamental dalam kehidupan sosial-keagamaan masyarakat, termasuk cara individu memahami dan mengamalkan keyakinan di tengah keberagaman agama yang semakin kompleks. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis interpretasi mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Medan terhadap modernisasi keberagaman agama dalam konteks masyarakat multikultural kota Medan. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif di lingkungan kampus, dan studi dokumentasi terkait kebijakan keberagaman agama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan mahasiswa memiliki interpretasi ganda terhadap modernisasi keberagaman agama. Di sisi positif, modernisasi meningkatkan akses pendidikan, memperluas wawasan melalui teknologi informasi, dan memfasilitasi dialog lintas agama yang mendorong toleransi antarumat beragama. Teknologi dan media sosial memungkinkan interaksi yang lebih luas antar mahasiswa berbeda agama. Namun, modernisasi juga menimbulkan tantangan berupa individualisasi, sekularisasi, berkurangnya nilai sakral dalam praktik keagamaan, serta potensi konflik akibat penyebaran hoaks dan ujaran kebencian di media sosial
