Abstract

The early developmental stages of fish are particularly sensitive. Plant extract with its content can have a good or bad effect on this embryonic phase, depending on the concentration and period. The impact can range from disruption of embryonic development to death. Disorders of embryo development commonly observed are the hatching rate, delay or premature hatching, survival rate, heartbeat rate, morphological changes, and body malformations. The chorion does not fully protect the embryo against plant extract because the content of plant extract has a small specific gravity to enter and penetrate the chorion layer. The variety of plant extract contents can make the results of research less predictable so that the single material contain is felt to have a more accurate impact on natural medicine research.

Abstract

Rasbora borneensis is a local fish of West Kalimantan that has the potential to be developed as farmed fish and biomedical research model animals. The utilization of fish potential as aquaculture animals and biomedical research model animals requires data on the biological aspects of these fish. Data from Fish Base (2023) shows that until now the biological information of Rasbora borneensis is still very limited, both morphological, anatomical, and reproductive data. This study aims to analyze the morphological characters of Rasbora borneensis. The results of this study show that there are morphological differences between male and female Rasbora borneensis fish. Female fish show a rounded flat body shape, while male fish show a flat body shape. The measurement results show that the morphometric ratio of male and female fish is different. However, when viewed based on variations in the size of the specimens used, there are several sizes that have the same value.

Abstract

Dengue fever is caused by the dengue virus which is transmitted through mosquito vectors Aedes aegypti. Vector control is one of the steps to prevent transmission by breaking the vector life cycle using abate. However, its use causes several effects, namely resistance to insects, environmental pollution and insecticide residues. Natural larvicides are an alternative by using plants such as ruku-ruku. Efforts to increase the active ingredient content of ruku-ruku leaves can be done using nanotechnology which has the advantage of increasing the effectiveness and stability of an active ingredient in plants. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of natural larvicide and the best concentration of nanotechnology ruku-ruku leaf infusion on larval mortality Aedes aegypti. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments carried out consisted of Control+ (0.01 gram abate), Control- (aquadest), and 3 treatments in the form of ruku-ruku leaf infusion (diluted using nanobubbles) with concentrations of 5%, 15% and 25%. The results of the probit analysis obtained LC50 is 23.829% and the LT50 is 48 hours. The conclusion of this study shows that nanotechnology ruku-ruku leaf infusion is effective on larval mortality Aedes aegypti.

Abstract

Abstract

Bamboo in Indonesia grows in clumps that create habitats that support biodiversity that can be studied through bioindicators, such as spiders that act as biological control agents as well as indicators of ecosystem diversity. This research was carried out with the aim of determining the diversity of spiders in bamboo clumps. The spider collection method is Hand Collecting and Beating. The results of the study found 14 species from 14 genera, 10 spider families consisting of 38 individuals. The species with the highest number of individuals is Ctenus hibernalis which reaches 14 individuals, while most other species only have a number of individuals between 1 to 3. This variation in the number of individuals per species is likely due to factors such as habitat differences, spider behavior, and the effectiveness of each collection method.
