Abstract

This study was conducted to address the challenge of underdeveloped Islamic character values among early childhood learners, which is influenced by limited instructional media and the high exposure to inappropriate digital content. Conventional teaching methods have not been able to present moral values in ways that are concrete, engaging, and meaningful for young learners, thus highlighting the need for an immersive technology-based innovation. This research aims to develop and evaluate a Virtual Reality–based interactive learning media designed to strengthen key Islamic character values, including prayer discipline, honesty, trustworthiness, and tolerance. The study employed a Research and Development approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. Media expert validation resulted in a feasibility score of 93.33 percent, while the material expert scored the product at 90 percent, indicating that the media is highly feasible. Implementation with early childhood learners showed an improvement in character scores from an average of 65.75 in the pretest to 83.54 in the posttest, with consistent behavioral enhancement demonstrated by all participants. The findings confirm that Virtual Reality provides a concrete, engaging, and meaningful learning experience that effectively supports the internalization of Islamic values. This research contributes to the development of innovative instructional media relevant to contemporary Islamic education and offers a foundation for integrating immersive technologies into character learning at the early childhood level.

Abstract

The declining interest of younger generations in agricultural professions has become a growing concern, highlighting the need to introduce agricultural literacy from an early age. Integrating technology into early childhood education offers a promising approach to make agricultural concepts more engaging and meaningful for young learners. This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility of an IoT-integrated Android-based learning media designed to introduce agricultural professions to early childhood students in Raudhatul Athfal. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. A small-scale field trial was conducted with 24 Group B students during classroom learning activities over a two-week implementation period. The developed application incorporates three main features: plant identification with voice narration, a simple planting simulation, and real-time greenhouse monitoring using IoT-based temperature and humidity sensors. The results of expert validation showed a high level of feasibility, with an average score of 3.53 out of 4, categorized as very feasible. In addition, student response analysis indicated strong engagement, with an average score of 3.6. The findings also demonstrated improvements in students’ ability to recognize plants and an increased interest in agricultural professions. In conclusion, the integration of IoT-based environmental monitoring with Android learning media can create meaningful and experiential learning opportunities for early childhood learners. This approach not only enhances agricultural literacy but also fosters early awareness of agricultural careers. It is recommended that future studies expand the implementation on a larger scale and explore additional interactive features to further optimize learning outcomes in early childhood education.

Abstract

Instilling a sense of nationalism from an early age presents challenges, especially for Indonesian children living abroad, such as those at Sanggar Bimbingan Sungai Mulia in Malaysia. Limited exposure to national symbols, values, and cultural identity often results in a lack of understanding of their Indonesian roots. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Canva-based interactive learning media in improving children's knowledge of nationalism. This research used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design involving 25 children aged 5–6 years. A pretest was conducted to assess their initial understanding, followed by lessons using Canva to introduce topics such as national symbols, the anthem, traditional houses, local food, and Pancasila values. A posttest was then given, and the data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test.The results showed a significant increase in posttest scores. Children demonstrated greater enthusiasm, focus, and engagement throughout the learning process. Canva’s visual and interactive elements helped simplify complex concepts, making them easier and more enjoyable to learn. The findings suggest that Canva is an effective medium for enhancing nationalism awareness among Indonesian children abroad. This study highlights the importance of using engaging digital tools in character and civic education, particularly in multicultural and global contexts.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the imbalance between competitive and collaborative practices in early childhood education, which may foster individualistic attitudes among children. While competition is commonly used to enhance learning motivation, previous studies have largely examined competition and collaboration separately, with limited attention to their integration within a coherent value-based pedagogical framework. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the integration of the values of fastabiqul khairat (striving to do good deeds) and ta'awun (mutual assistance) as a pedagogical approach to balancing competition and collaboration in early childhood learning. This research employed a qualitative descriptive design conducted at an Islamic-based early childhood education institution in Bojonegoro, Indonesia. The participants consisted of 3 teachers and 20 children selected through purposive sampling, and data were collected over a period of two months. Data were gathered through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using thematic analysis with triangulation to ensure data validity. The findings reveal that implementing fastabiqul khairat promotes positive, prosocial competition, while ta'awun strengthens cooperation, empathy, and social awareness among children. This result indicates that value-based integration reshapes the competitive landscape. Transition from individual achievement to prosocial development. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that competition and collaboration can be complementary rather than opposing approaches in early childhood education. This study contributes to the development of Islamic early childhood education by proposing a novel value-based pedagogical framework that integrates Islamic principles into learning practices, particularly in the design of structured learning activities that combine prosocial competition and collaborative engagement
