Abstract

Abstract: Consumption rate of energy drinks is quite high in the community, especially for those who have a lot of activity. Energy drinks containing aspartame if consumed excessively can lead to disorders of the kidneys, which is characterized by an increase in the value of renal function (urea and creatinine serum). The experimental research with posttest only with control group design methods that analyze the value of renal function by using One Way Anova or Kruskal-Walis test. Before treatment 30 rats adapted for one week and were divided into five groups, after that the rats were treated for 28 days and on day 29 rats blood is taken and then examined values of rats urea and creatinine serum. From the Kruskal-Walis test for urea values obtained value of p=0.372 (p>0.05) and One Way Anova test for creatinine values obtained value of p=0.461 (p>0.05). From the results of the study are changes in the value of urea and creatinine serum the rats but the change was not statistically significant so there is no effect of energy drinks containing aspartame on kidney function (urea and serum creatinine) in male rats (Rattus norvegicus L.)Keyword: Energy drinks, aspartame, kidney function, urea, creatinine

Abstract

Abstract: Osteoarthritis is one of the most common degenerative diseases that attack the joints and cause deformity in the elderly. The purpose of this study was to investigate the link between dhuha prayer and the risk of knee osteoarthritis (kOA). Methods: cross-sectional and purposive sampling, with inclusion criteria including Muslim women cured in the Government Binjai Senior Care, age greater than or equal to 60 years, communicative, signing informed consent, and providing complete answers to the WOMAC questionnaire to assess kOA risk. The interview form was used to count the number of rak'ahs of dhuha prayer that are usually performed every day. SPSS was used to analyze the data, and the Spearman Rank test was used. The research criteria were met by 30 of 101 prospective respondents. The respondents ages range from 60 to 85 years old, 68% are at risk of mild kOA, and there is a link between the number of rak'ahs of dhuha prayer and a lower risk of kOA. Conclusion: The more rak'ahs of dhuha prayer that are performed on a daily basis, the lower the risk of KOA.
