Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of industrial internship programs on the managerial competence of Automotive Engineering students. The managerial competencies in question include the ability in work planning, organizing, leadership, decision-making, and work evaluation. This study uses a quantitative approach with an explanatory research method. Data were collected through a Likert scale-based questionnaire and analyzed using normality tests, Pearson correlation, as well as simple linear regression with the help of SPSS applications. The results of the study showed that the internship program had a positive and significant influence on students' managerial competence, with a correlation coefficient value of 0.774 and a significance of 0.000. Regression analysis showed that 59.9% of the variation in managerial competence could be explained by the internship program, with a regression coefficient of 1.021 (p < 0.001). These findings show that involvement in internship programs makes a real contribution to the development of managerial skills of Automotive Engineering students. Thus, the industrial internship program has proven to be one of the effective strategies in preparing students to face the world of work that demands technical and managerial skills in a balanced manner. Therefore, universities are advised to strengthen the design of internship programs through intensive cooperation with industry.

Abstract

Global competition, digital transformation, and rising expectations for product quality all pose challenges for the automotive sector.  Kaizen, a concept of continuous improvement that is widely used in manufacturing processes, is one strategic way to address this challenge.  The purpose of this study is to examine the role of Kaizen in improving the quality of automotive products by conducting a comprehensive literature review of eleven selected scientific articles from national and international journals. The study found that Kaizen tools such as 5S, Poka-Yoke, PDCA, and Kaizen Costing were successful in reducing production errors and improving process efficiency.  However, cultural opposition, inadequate training, and adaptability to digital technologies all pose obstacles to Kaizen adoption.  This study shows that the effectiveness of Kaizen depends on management support, employee engagement, and the organization's capacity to incorporate technology into the philosophy of continuous improvement.  This research provides a foundation for building a Kaizen strategy in the Industry 4.0 era.

Abstract

Traffic congestion in Indonesia, particularly on the Jakarta–Bandung route, significantly reduces mobility efficiency. Nebengers, a carpooling platform, offers an alternative solution to reduce private vehicle usage, but the drivers’ routes must be optimized to minimize travel costs. This study is a case study using the Vehicle Routing Problem with Profits (VRPP), the Prize Collecting Travelling Salesman Problem (PCTSP) model, and the heuristic nearest neighbor algorithm to determine the optimal route. The data considered include toll fees, fuel consumption, revenue from each drop-off point, and penalties for unvisited points. The results indicate that visiting all points produces a total cost of IDR 222,219, which is lower than the route with penalties (IDR 225,333). It is concluded that visiting all drop-off points is the best option to maximize profit and travel efficiency.

Abstract

Abstrak – Kemajuan teknologi otomotif modern menuntut tenaga kerja dengan kompetensi diagnostik digital yang tinggi, terutama di lingkungan pendidikan vokasi. Namun, banyak Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) di daerah masih menghadapi keterbatasan dalam penggunaan perangkat scantool untuk mendiagnosis sistem injeksi elektronik kendaraan ringan. Kondisi ini menunjukkan adanya kesenjangan kompetensi antara kebutuhan industri dan kemampuan peserta didik dalam mengoperasikan alat diagnostik digital. Kegiatan pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas pelatihan penggunaan scantool terhadap peningkatan kompetensi teknis guru dan siswa SMK Negeri 4 Takalar. Metode pelatihan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif dengan desain one-group pretest–posttest yang melibatkan 25 peserta. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, tes pengetahuan, dan penilaian praktik, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan uji paired sample t-test untuk mengukur peningkatan kemampuan diagnostik. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada penguasaan konsep sistem OBD-II dan keterampilan operasional scantool, dengan rata-rata peningkatan skor sebesar 45%. Temuan ini mengonfirmasi bahwa pelatihan berbasis praktik langsung efektif meningkatkan kesiapan vokasional peserta didik menghadapi tuntutan industri otomotif digital. Pelatihan ini juga merekomendasikan integrasi scantool-based learning ke dalam kurikulum praktik otomotif di SMK sebagai strategi penguatan link and match antara dunia pendidikan dan industri otomotif nasional.Kata kunci: scantool, kompetensi vokasional, pelatihan otomotif, pendidikan kejuruan, OBD-II
