Abstract

This research is a quasi-experimental research with a design Nonequivalent-Groups Pretest- Posttest Design which aims to determine the influence of the application of self-directed learning models learning on critical thinking skills in children aged 5-6 years at the Al-Hanif Muta'awin Integrated Islamic PAUD. The population studied were all children in group B at the PAUD, with a total of 40 children. The research sample consisted of group B1 as an experimental class with 15 children, and group B2 as a control class with the same number. Data collection methods used included descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The results of the study showed that there was a significant effect of the application of the self-directed learning model on the critical thinking skills of children aged 5-6 years. The test results showed an increase in critical thinking skills in the experimental group, with an average value reaching 20.20, while in the control group the average value was 13.67. The difference in average values between the two groups showed that the experimental group had a higher value. Thus, based on the results of the Wilcoxon test, it can be concluded significantly that the application of the self-directed learning model has an effect on critical thinking skills in children aged 5-6 years at the Al-Hanif Muta'awin Integrated

Abstract

Expressive language proficiency plays a crucial role in everyday life, allowing children to express their needs and desires more easily and helping others to understand them better. However, the challenge of developing these skills, particularly in young children, remains a key issue in education. This study aims to assess the impact of audiovisual media on improving the expressive language abilities of children at Chamsiyah Kindergarten, located in Ulugalung Village, Bantaeng Regency. The research adopted a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design. Data was gathered through observations in a one-group pretest and posttest format. The educational tool employed was audiovisual media. The sample consisted of 15 children aged 5 to 6 years who voluntarily participated in the study. The analysis revealed a significant increase in the average scores between the pretest and posttest. Hypothesis testing showed that the t-statistic was -15.427, compared to a t-table value of 1.761, indicating that the t-statistic was greater than the t-table value, supporting the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha). Thus, it was concluded that the use of audiovisual media significantly enhanced the expressive language skills of early childhood learners. This research contributes to early childhood education by demonstrating the practical effectiveness of audiovisual media as a tool to support the development of expressive language skills in children.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of 3D-based educational games on early childhood literacy skills, especially in group B at Insan Madani Kindergarten, Ujung Bulu District, Bulukumba Regency. The method used was an experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest design and a qualitative approach. The sample consisted of 17 children aged 5-6 years who were treated using 3D-based educational games during three meetings. Literacy ability data was measured through pretest and posttest, then analyzed using the paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant increase in children's literacy skills with an average pretest score of 23.18 and posttest score of 55.24. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference (p < 0.05) between the pre- and post-treatment values. 3D-based educational games provide an interactive, engaging, and fun learning experience that can optimally improve children's interest and literacy skills. This study concludes that the use of 3D-based educational games is effective as an innovative learning method to develop early childhood literacy skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of playdough games  on the improvement of fine motor skills of group B children at Al-Iman Padi Gantarang Bulukumba Kindergarten. The research method used was an experiment with a pre-test and post-test design  on 12 children as a sample. Data analysis was carried out using the Wilcoxon test to test the difference in scores before and after treatment. The results showed that there was a significant improvement in children's fine motor skills after playing playdough, with the average score increasing from 20.75 to 54.83, suggesting that this game was effective in training children's fine motor skills. In addition, playdough games  also attract children's attention, making the learning process more fun and interactive

Abstract

Children's creativity, especially in combining colors, shapes, and textures, as well as their ability to experiment and explore, is not yet optimal. This problem arises due to inappropriate and less interesting learning methods. This research aims to analyze the effect of applying the project-based learning (PjBL) model on increasing creativity in early childhood. This research uses quantitative methods with a pre-experimental design in the form of a pre-test and a post-test for one group. The research population was 30 children, with a sample of 15 children selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through observation using validated guidelines. Hypothesis testing was performed using nonparametric analysis, Wilcoxon test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed a significant increase in creativity in children, with the average score increasing from 23.93 in the pre-test to 49.07 in the post-test. Statistical analysis shows a significance value of 0.001 (<0.05), indicating that applying the PjBL learning model has a positive effect on the creativity of young children. These results reflect that children's ability to combine visual elements creatively, solve problems in a simple way, and experiment increased after applying the PjBL model. This research concludes that PjBL can be an innovative solution in supporting the development of creativity in early childhood, especially in the context of learning centered on exploration and direct experience. These results recommend the widespread use of PjBL to increase children's creativity in various early childhood education institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on higher order thinking skills (HOTS) in early childhood. This study used a pre-experimental design  with the One Group Pretest-Posttest model, involving 15 children aged 5–6 years in a private kindergarten in the Gatot Subroto area. The PBL model is applied through activities that allow children to observe phenomena, identify problems, design solutions, and draw conclusions independently. Data collection was carried out through observation of high-level thinking skills at two stages, namely before and after PBL treatment. The results of descriptive statistical analysis showed an increase in the average score from the pretest by 26.67 to 52.53 in the posttest. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test showed a significance value (2-tailed) = 0.001 < 0.05, which indicates a significant effect of the application of PBL on the improvement of children's high-level thinking skills. These findings suggest that PBL is effective in developing analytical, critical, and creative thinking skills in early childhood. The implication of the results of this study is the need to integrate problem-based learning models in the early childhood education curriculum as a strategy to optimize cognitive development and children's readiness to face future challenges

Abstract

Language is the main foundation of early childhood development that affects thinking skills, social interaction, and character formation and moral awareness. From the perspective of Islamic pedagogy, language is not only a means of communication, but also a divine mandate (amanah al-lughah) or a means to express gratitude and cultivate manners in speaking. This study aims to determine the influence of audio-visual learning media on the language skills of children aged 4-5 years in Anggrek 2 Kindergarten, Gantarang District, Bulukumba Regency. The approach used was a pre-experimental design of the One Group Pretest–Posttest Design. A total of 12 children were purposively selected as samples, and data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test. The results of the study showed a significant increase in receptive and expressive language skills after the application of audio-visual learning media. These findings confirm that audio-visual media not only strengthens children's linguistic skills through engaging and interactive learning experiences, but also has the potential to foster the values of empathy, good manners, and spiritual awareness through educational and moral content. Thus, audio-visual media can be a learning strategy that is not only academically effective, but also humanistically and religiously meaningful to support early childhood development holistically.
