Abstract

Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Screening is an early effort to identify NCD risk factors in individuals or groups through the Integrated Development Post (Posbindu) NCD. NCDs consist of Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus, Cervical and Breast Cancer, and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. NCDs are increasing and are the main cause of death of the population. In 2030, it is targeted that at least the number of premature deaths due to NCDs can be prevented through the SDGs program by 25%. The Faculty of Health Sciences (Fikes) of Musi Charitas Catholic University (UKMC) is part of the Sukarami Health Center Working Area which has 396 students in the 2024/2025 academic year. Fikes finds out whether or not there are NCD risk data factors in students. Lecturers and Officers of the Sukarami Health Center are actively conducting NCD screening using the Posbindu activity method, namely 5 Tables (Registration, Interview, Measurement, Examination and Counseling/Education). The target of all UKMC Fikes students who are studying on campus is 287 (72.47%). The activities carried out were measuring Body Weight (BB), Height (BB), determining Body Mass Index (BMI). Implementation of procedures in accordance with the guidelines set by the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI). Results: The target achievement was 245 (85.37%) of the original target of 287. Analysis results 1) Students who have a BMI > 25 are 72 (29.39%) students; have a waist circumference > 80 (women) and > 90 (men) are 62 (25%) students. Blood pressure > 130/90 mmHg is owned by 6 (2.45%) students, while random blood sugar > 180 mg/dl is owned by 1 (0.41%) student. Suggestions or Follow-up Action Plans: All students are screened periodically and PTM control is carried out.

Abstract

The increase in population in Indonesia means that the amount of food consumption also increases, if not accompanied by good environmental problems, will have a major impact, especially the problem of waste produced by the community, one of which is organic waste consisting of vegetables, fruits, and others; therefore there must be useful activities in managing the waste. The purpose of community service activities is to increase public knowledge about the processing of organic waste into coenzymes. The method educates and simulates exoenzymes made from vegetables processed from household waste. Participants in the activity were 15 people gathered in one place; the activity was carried out on May 15, 2024. The activity process began with planning, activities, and evaluation. The activity results showed that the participants were enthusiastic and very interested in participating in this education; there was an increase in public knowledge about managing organic waste into coenzymes. The conclusion of the activity shows that the community must often be given education and direct assistance to improve its ability, one of which is the processing of household waste in the form of vegetables, fruits, and other things.

Abstract

Preoperative anxiety is a common issue that can affect both the physical and psychological condition of patients before undergoing surgery. One non-pharmacological intervention that can be applied to reduce anxiety is the five-finger hypnosis therapy.Evaluating the effectiveness of five-finger hypnosis therapy in reducing anxiety levels in preoperative patients at Siloam Silampari Hospital, Lubuklinggau.Using a case study approach with the application of evidence-based nursing practice in nursing care for three preoperative patients experiencing anxiety. Data were collected through nursing assessments and measured using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) to determine anxiety levels. The intervention was carried out over three days following standard operating procedures (SOP).The study results indicate that five-finger hypnosis therapy is effective in reducing anxiety levels in preoperative patients. The HARS scores gradually decreased, with all patients improving from severe anxiety to mild anxiety and eventually showing no clinically significant anxiety by the third day of the intervention. A more significant impact was observed after the second and third days of intervention, suggesting that this therapy is more effective when applied repeatedly and consistently.

Abstract

The heart is a vital human organ that plays an important role in the circulatory system. Therefore, an understanding of the heart needs to be given from an early age, starting from basic concepts to more complex aspects. Every human being is created by God with a heart that functions to sustain life, so every individual has the right to gain knowledge about heart health. Adolescents, in particular, need to understand the function and workings of the heart early in order to lower the risk of heart disease in the future. This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to improve the understanding of cardiac physiology in adolescents through the use of digital media. The activity method used is health education about cardiac physiology and how to maintain heart health from an early age. The participants of the activity were 50 students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah and Junior High School of the Ummul Quro Al-Hamidiyah Foundation. The activity began with the delivery of educational materials, then continued with an evaluation of students' understanding. The results of the activity showed an increase in student knowledge, which indicates that education is effective in forming awareness and early prevention of heart disease.

Abstract

Global data shows that more than 60% of adolescents report experiencing moderate to severe stress due to academic and social demands. Physical activity plays an important role in maintaining adolescent mental health. Regular physical activity can stimulate the release of endorphins, improve cognitive function, reduce muscle tension, and reduce levels of cortisol, the main hormone associated with stress. One of the easiest, cheapest, safest, and most accessible forms of physical activity is walking. Walking is a moderate-intensity aerobic activity that has been proven to improve mood, improve sleep patterns, and reduce anxiety. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of walking as a physical activity on stress disorders in adolescents. The research method used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group approach, involving 44 participants, comprising 22 intervention and 22 control subjects. The walking activity was conducted for three consecutive days, with a duration of 60 minutes, from 16:00 to 17:00 WIB, on 16-18 December 2024. The sample criteria were first-year nursing students in their first semester who performed walking activities continuously for three days. The results showed a significant difference in stress levels before and after the intervention, with a significance level of (Z=-3.557, p=0.000). This means that there was a significant difference in stress levels between before and after the physical activity intervention. The difference in stress levels before and after the intervention in the control group was significant (Z=-1.000, p=0.317). This means that there was no difference in stress levels in the control group. The difference in stress levels between the intervention group and the control group after treatment was significant (Z=-3.445, p=0.001). This indicates that there is a significant difference in stress levels between the intervention group and the control group after the physical activity intervention. Walking is an effective, affordable, and feasible intervention for the adolescent population as a promotive and preventive strategy in stress management.

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that can lead to cardiovascular complications and requires both pharmacological and non-pharmacological management. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be applied is warm water foot soaking and progressive muscle relaxation, which may help reduce blood pressure through peripheral vasodilation, stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system, and decreased sympathetic nervous system activity. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of nursing care through warm water foot soaking therapy and progressive muscle relaxation to reduce blood pressure in patients with hypertension. The method used was a case study with a pre-experimental design using a one group pre-test post-testapproach involving three hypertensive patients, with the intervention administered once daily for three days. The results showed a decrease in blood pressure in all patients. The average systolic reduction was 5.3 mmHg, 12.3 mmHg, and 5.6 mmHg, while the diastolic reduction was 1.6 mmHg, 2.6 mmHg, and 4 mmHg, respectively. In addition, all patients reported a reduction in pain scale. It can be concluded that warm water foot soaking therapy combined with progressive muscle relaxation is effective as a complementary nursing intervention to help reduce blood pressure in patients with hypertension.
