Abstract

The quality of learning can be improved, one of which is using lesson study, through collaboration between lecturers to achieve learning output, especially in scientific writing technique courses with journal article output, so that it has an impact on improving quality in higher education. This research uses lesson study through plan (planning), do (implementation), see (reflection) with the object of study in the technical course for writing scientific papers in 3 cycles, namely research-based scientific work, preparing an introduction to a journal article, compiling the results and discussion of a journal article. . The research sample consisted of 12 people, taking into account the students' ability to express opinions to achieve students' understanding in preparing journal articles until they were published in the target journal. The research results show that in each cycle there is an increase in expressing opinions and obtaining learning innovations in each cycle based on the results of reflection.

Abstract

Globalization and modernization are the causes of the degradation of local wisdom, including knowledge of traditional medicinal plants. This study aims to integrate local wisdom of Simalungun medicinal plants in science learning to improve student learning outcomes. The method used is Classroom Action Research in two cycles, each consisting of the Plan, Do, See stages. Data were collected through pretest and posttest tests and observations of learning implementation. The results showed an increase in the average pretest score from 57.83 to 77.83 in cycle I, and from 66.08 to 80.43 in cycle II, with classical completeness increasing from 60.87% to 82.60%. Changes in learning strategies through heterogeneous grouping and the use of concrete media contributed to students' conceptual understanding. The conclusion of this study confirms that learning that integrates local wisdom-based media in a reflective and collaborative framework can encourage significant and contextual improvements in learning outcomes.

Abstract

Indonesia dikenal sebagai negara “megabiodiversity” dengan keanekaragaman jenis tanaman dan hewan yang sangat tinggi. Indonesia memiliki sekitar 80% dari total spesies tumbuhan berkhasiat obat yang ada di dunia. Upaya pemanfaatan tumbuhan sebagai obat tidak hanya dilakukan oleh masyarakat umum, tetapi juga dilakukan oleh pemerintah. Pengobatan tradisional berasal dari bahan alami yang lebih murah dengan bahan baku yang mudah didapatkan. Di sisi lain, kearifan lokal pada komunitas tertentu memungkinkan masyarakat memanfaatkan obat tradisional. Potensi tanaman obat yang terdapat di sekitar Taman Nasional Gunung Leuser tepatnya di Desa Batu Jongjong, Kecamatan Bahorok, Kabupaten Langkat. Potensi tanaman obat yang terdapat di sekitar Taman Nasional Gunung Leuser tepatnya di Desa Batu Jongjong, Kecamatan Bahorok, Kabupaten Langkat sangat banyak. Oleh sebab itu perlu dilakukan pemberdayaan masyarakat terkait pemanfaatan lahan sebagai upaya pendidikan konservasi masyarakat sekitar yang berwawasan konservasi. Salah satu cara pemanfaatan lahan adalah dengan taman TOGA. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat sebagai sarana pendidikan konservasi. Kegiatan pengabdian Masyarakat ini dikembangkan menjadi kegiatan yang sinergis sehingga diharapkan dampaknya akan lebih optimal terhadap masayarakat. Kegiatan dilaksanakn melalui penyuluhan dan pelatihan dengan ceramah dan praktek.
