Abstract

Abstract

This study assesses the impact of implementing the Group Investigation (GI) Learning Model on the Biology learning outcomes of grade XI MIA students at SMA Negeri 3 Pematangsiantar. Employing a quasi-experimental design, two experimental groups applied the GI Learning Model, while the control group received conventional teaching. Results revealed a significant enhancement in Biology learning outcomes for the experimental groups, as reflected in improved pre-test and post-test scores. Conversely, the control group exhibited no noteworthy changes. Student responses conveyed a high level of satisfaction with the GI Learning Model in the context of Biology education. These findings recommend educators and policymakers consider GI Learning Model implementation as an effective alternative for enhancing Biology learning outcomes in high schools. Further research is necessary to explore factors influencing the success of this model, along with its implications for curriculum development and teaching methods.

Abstract

This research evaluates the effectiveness of the Cooperative Learning instructional model in enhancing high school students' Biology learning outcomes. Employing an experimental design with pretest-posttest control groups, the study randomly selects two groups of students. Data collection methods include pretests, posttests, classroom observations, and questionnaires to assess interactions and perceptions. Descriptive and inferential statistics analyze significant differences in learning outcomes before and after implementing Cooperative Learning. Findings aim to inform educators, teachers, and stakeholders about the model's efficacy in Biology education. Implications suggest potential improvements in teaching strategies for Biology and other subjects, offering valuable insights for educational practitioners. This research contributes to understanding the Cooperative Learning model's effectiveness in enhancing students' learning outcomes, providing a basis for recommending more effective teaching strategies in various educational contexts.

Abstract

Indonesia's marine ecosystems play a crucial role in global biodiversity conservation, with regions rich in coral reefs, mangroves, and seagrass beds. The high marine biodiversity makes Indonesia home to various endemic species. However, these ecosystems face serious threats due to climate change, plastic pollution, overfishing, and coastal habitat degradation. This study aims to identify the role of marine ecosystems in biodiversity conservation in Indonesia, as well as the challenges they face. The research method used in this study includes literature review and analysis of marine conservation policies in Indonesia. The results show that Indonesia's marine ecosystems, including coral reefs, mangroves, and seagrass beds, significantly contribute to the sustainability of biodiversity and ecosystem balance. However, threats from both natural factors and human activities require more intensive conservation efforts. Conservation policies in several areas, such as Raja Ampat, have shown positive results, but there is a need for improvement in law enforcement and international collaboration. Therefore, effective and coordinated conservation efforts are essential to protect Indonesia's marine ecosystems and biodiversity for future generations

Abstract

This study aims to identify the species composition, abundance, and diversity of macrozoobenthos in the Waters of Mangrove Forest Dusun XIV Tanjung Rejo Village, Percut Sei Tuan Subdistrict, North Sumtra. Field survey methods and purposive sampling techniques were carried out by taking macrozoobenthos samples using standardized quadrats along randomly placed stations in the mangrove forest. The data obtained were then analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index, Simpson's dominance index. The results of research on the diversity of macrozoobenthos species obtained 17 species with 3 phyla, 3 classes, 8 orders, 16 families, and 16 genus. Measurement of physical and chemical factors of water obtained an average temperature of 28-31°C; average pH 7.2-7.6; average salinity 22-28°C; and the substrate is mud and silty sand. The type of macrozoobenthos that dominates in the area is Gastropoda. Macrozoobenthos diversity index value (H') 2.3905 at station I, 2.2567 at station II, and 2.1379 at station III, categorized as moderate. Based on these results, the Mangrove Forest Waters Area Dusun XIV Tanjung Rejo Village, Percut Sei Tuan Subdistrict is still within the threshold of good quality standards for the life of macrozoobenthos biota, which means that the environmental conditions are still not too polluted. This study makes an important contribution to the understanding of mangrove forest ecology and the importance of conservation and management of mangrove ecosystems as an integral part of the ecosystem

Abstract

This literature study aims to determine the actualization of social media networks on academic learning achievements, especially for high school students or Generation Z and efforts to overcome dependence on social media networks. This type of research is qualitative research with a literature study method. The results of literature studies show that Generation Z students spend more time scrolling on social media. Social media that is often used by Generation Z students is Whatsapp, Instagram, Tiktok, Youtube, Facebook and Twitter. Today's Generation Z tends to get bored when they don't use social media because each social media has its own advantages and characteristics that make its users feel at home staring at their cellphone screens all day long. The intensity of social media use of Generation Z students averages more than 3 hours a day. Usually the electronic devices used to access social media include smartphones, laptops and other electronic devices. The positive impact of social media for Gen Z in using social media is to get information related to knowledge, tips and tricks related to learning and will make it easier when doing assignments so it is hoped that it will support each student's achievement. The surefire way for students to become Gen Z to overcome this dependency or addiction to social media, they do by managing or managing their time as well as possible, limiting the use of social networks, increasing outside activities so as to minimize opening social media, by turning off notifications so they can focus more on doing assignments or other things related to school or daily life.

Abstract

The quality of learning can be improved, one of which is using lesson study, through collaboration between lecturers to achieve learning output, especially in scientific writing technique courses with journal article output, so that it has an impact on improving quality in higher education. This research uses lesson study through plan (planning), do (implementation), see (reflection) with the object of study in the technical course for writing scientific papers in 3 cycles, namely research-based scientific work, preparing an introduction to a journal article, compiling the results and discussion of a journal article. . The research sample consisted of 12 people, taking into account the students' ability to express opinions to achieve students' understanding in preparing journal articles until they were published in the target journal. The research results show that in each cycle there is an increase in expressing opinions and obtaining learning innovations in each cycle based on the results of reflection.

Abstract

Globalization and modernization are the causes of the degradation of local wisdom, including knowledge of traditional medicinal plants. This study aims to integrate local wisdom of Simalungun medicinal plants in science learning to improve student learning outcomes. The method used is Classroom Action Research in two cycles, each consisting of the Plan, Do, See stages. Data were collected through pretest and posttest tests and observations of learning implementation. The results showed an increase in the average pretest score from 57.83 to 77.83 in cycle I, and from 66.08 to 80.43 in cycle II, with classical completeness increasing from 60.87% to 82.60%. Changes in learning strategies through heterogeneous grouping and the use of concrete media contributed to students' conceptual understanding. The conclusion of this study confirms that learning that integrates local wisdom-based media in a reflective and collaborative framework can encourage significant and contextual improvements in learning outcomes.
