Abstract

Harmonization between science and religion in al-Fārābī’s thought is an important topic in addressing the challenges of paradigm differences between the two in modern society. This research aims to explore al-Fārābī’s views on the integration of spiritual values and scientific rationality and their relevance to contemporary challenges. Using a qualitative method based on a literature study, this research analyzes al-Fārābī’s works as well as supporting literature that discusses the relationship between science and religion. The results show that al-Fārābī viewed science and religion as two different paths that lead to the same goal, which is the highest human happiness. Science provides rational knowledge to understand the physical world, while religion offers moral guidance to live life. In al-Fārābī’s view, the two complement each other, with science playing a role in revealing the nature of reality and religion providing ethical and spiritual meaning. This research emphasizes that al-Fārābī’s thoughts are relevant in the context of holistic education, ethical development in science and technology, and dialogue between science and religion. This approach can serve as a foundation for moral and rational value-based policies, creating a balance between intellectual progress and social responsibility. Thus, the harmonization of science and religion not only addresses the conflict between the two but also contributes to the construction of a just society with integrity. This research proposes that such integration can be a comprehensive solution to global issues such as technological ethics, climate change, and pluralism.

Abstract

This study designs a neuroscience-based Islamic religious education assessment in the era of society 5.0 that combines neuroscience and learning evaluation to assess cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach with PRISMA methodology, this study synthesized findings from 23 articles published between 2014 and 2025. The PRISMA approach was used for data analysis, which is a systematic review that aims to screen, evaluate, and report the literature transparently. The steps of data analysis with PRISMA involved a process of identification, screening, feasibility assessment, and inclusion of relevant literature. The results of this study compiled a neuroscience-based neuroeducational assessment design in Islamic education learning based on Paul D. Maclean's theory (triune brain), which is expected to contribute to assessment innovation in Islamic education to answer the needs of the learning process that is relevant to the challenges and potential of society 5.0.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and explore the phenomenological approach in Islamic Studies from the perspective of Annemarie Schimmel, as well as her contribution to Islamic Studies. It aims to offer a deeper understanding of Islamic beliefs, practices, and spiritual experiences. The research uses a literature review (library research) with a historical figure study approach. The researcher collected data from scientific articles, journals, books, and relevant documents, which were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively using content analysis. The findings of this study reveal that Schimmel's phenomenology is an approach that seeks to understand and penetrate the essence of religion by first examining its phenomena and then delving into the deeper layers of human responses to God until reaching the most profound sacred essence of each religion the centre, the divine, or Deus absconditus. This approach aims to interpret the meaning of Islamic teachings as understood and experienced by its followers rather than based on preconceived notions or the researcher's observations. In practice, this approach employs the concentric ring model theory, which helps create a more empathetic and objective understanding of the religious experiences of Muslims. This theory can serve as a valuable tool for interfaith dialogue and enhancing the image of Islam in the Western world.

Abstract

The limited availability of empathy measurement instruments that align with Islamic values presents a significant challenge in the education of Islamic Religious Education teacher candidates in Indonesia. This study aims to develop and validate the Basic Empathy Scale - Islamic Theology, a modified version of the Basic Empathy Scale, designed to measure empathy based on Islamic values such as compassion, sincerity, tolerance, and mutual assistance. Employing a quantitative approach with an instrument development design, this research involved 211 respondents. The results of the Confirmatory Factor Analysis indicated a reasonably good model fit, with a Chi-Square (χ²) value of 384.623 (df = 132), p < 0.001, CFI = 0.829, TLI = 0.802, and RMSEA = 0.095, suggesting that the model is acceptable, though not perfect. The reliability coefficients-Cronbach's Alpha (α) = 0.809 and Omega (ω) = 0.816-demonstrate excellent internal consistency. The BES-IT was found to be a valid and reliable instrument for measuring empathy based on Islamic values. Its implication lies in supporting the development of the social-spiritual character of Islamic Religious Education teacher candidates and enhancing the contextual and responsive quality of religious education.

Abstract

Purpose – This study addresses the critical need for a contextual and comprehensive evaluation system for entrepreneurship education in Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKI). While global research increasingly supports the role of entrepreneurship education in driving innovation and sustainability, most existing studies focus on entrepreneurial intentions or self-efficacy, with limited attention to systematic evaluation frameworks. This study aims to map global scientific trends, identify adaptive evaluation models, and formulate a Learning-Oriented Assessment (LOA)-based conceptual framework tailored for PTKI. Design/methods/approach – Using a mixed-methods exploratory design, the study integrates bibliometric analysis of 1,428 Scopus-indexed articles (2015–2025) with a systematic literature review (SLR) of 29 empirically and theoretically grounded studies. Analytical tools such as VOSviewer, R Studio Bibliometrix, and PRISMA 2020 protocols were employed to ensure methodological rigor. The PICOS framework guided article selection and synthesis. Findings – Results show a steady 5.12% annual growth in publications, with hybrid models—particularly the CIPP-AHP-FCE—emerging as the most adaptive across diverse institutional contexts, including those with limited technological capacity. Dual-focused evaluations that integrate both learning processes and outcomes are found to be more holistic and sustainable. However, process-oriented assessment models remain underrepresented in current literature. Research implications – PTKIs can adopt the synthesized models and proposed framework to develop evaluation systems that align with their technological readiness, educator competencies, and spiritual mandates. This supports the advancement of reflective, inclusive, and pedagogically effective entrepreneurship education.

Abstract

This study aims to outline various findings of previous research related to the comparison of the application of the Graded Response Model (GRM) and the Generalized Partial Credit Model (GPCM) in the development of higher education practice assessment instruments. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review. The data in this study are articles indexed in Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 from Scopus. Articles were selected using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) technique. After going through the identification, screening, and eligibility process, 35 articles were included in the inclusion stage and analyzed using meta-synthesis techniques. The results of this study show that the findings of previous research show that the Graded Response Model (GRM) and the Generalized Partial Credit Model (GPCM) have differences in the development of practice assessment instruments in higher education. That GRM measures competencies based on students' values, attitudes, and spirituality, especially in assessments that use a graded scale such as Likert. In contrast, GPCM provides higher reliability in the context of step-based practice assessment or procedural stages. The results of this study can contribute positively to the development of practice assistance in higher education.
