Abstract

The need for decent housing is a basic human need that is important to improve the quality of life. The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) launched the Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance Program (BSPS) to help low-income communities (MBR) build or repair houses to meet the standards of decent housing. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the BSPS Program in Kantanan Village, Bokat District, Buol Regency, with a qualitative descriptive approach based on Edward III's policy implementation theory. The results of the study indicate that communication mechanisms, resources, implementer dispositions, and bureaucratic structures affect the effectiveness of the program. The main obstacles include the low understanding of the community about the technicalities of the program, limited human and financial resources, and administrative obstacles at the district level. Although this program has provided positive results in improving community welfare, improvements are needed in aspects of communication, strengthening resources, and simplifying the bureaucracy to achieve better effectiveness. Abstract

Renewable energy is an energy source obtained from natural resources that can be naturally renewed in a relatively short time, so that its availability will not run out as long as its use is carried out sustainably. This article aims to increase the understanding of the Pinomontiga Village community regarding the importance of renewable energy in improving the quality of life and supporting the local economy. The results of the activity show that: 1) The activity of cleaning up garbage on the beach in Pinomontiga Village has succeeded in increasing public awareness of the importance of maintaining the cleanliness and sustainability of the coastal ecosystem. Collaboration between residents, students, and related parties not only cleans the beach, but also fosters a sense of collective responsibility in protecting the environment. Education about the negative impacts of garbage on marine biota and the local economy, especially the fisheries and tourism sectors, is an important aspect of this activity; 2) Socialization regarding renewable energy, such as solar, wind, and biomass energy, provides new insights for coastal communities about environmentally friendly energy solutions that can be optimized for local needs. The potential for renewable energy in coastal areas opens up new economic opportunities and reduces dependence on fossil fuels; 3) Tree planting in coastal areas not only functions as a greening effort, but also helps control erosion, protect against coastal flooding, and create a healthier ecosystem. Selecting the right tree species can support the development of local wind energy, providing ecological benefits while opening up opportunities in the renewable energy sector. The results of this study indicate that a community-based approach to the application of renewable energy has great potential to increase public awareness and participation in environmental conservation. Further studies can examine the effectiveness of various strategies for implementing renewable energy in coastal communities, including technical, economic, and social aspects. In addition, a more in-depth analysis is needed regarding policies that support the sustainable use of renewable energy at the local level.

Abstract

The 2024 Presidential Election in Indonesia reflects the increasinglycomplex dynamics of democracy, marked by the increasing role of social media,identity-based campaigns, and candidate personalization. This study aims toanalyze the socio-psychological factors that influence voting behavior, identifythe characteristics of rational and emotional voters, and examine the implicationsof the dominance of emotional behavior on the quality of electoral democracy. The approach used is a mixed-method, through a quantitative survey of youngvoters as well as in-depth interviews and analysis of digital campaign content. Theresults of the study show that factors such as identity affiliation, emotionalcloseness to candidates, and the intensity of social media exposure play asignificant role in shaping voting behavior. Rational voters tend to consider thetrack record and work programs of candidates, while emotional voters are moreinfluenced by symbolism, emotional narratives, and personal perceptions. Thesefindings indicate that the dominance of emotional behavior in elections has thepotential to weaken the quality of electoral democracy because politicaldecisions are often not based on informative rational considerations. This studyrecommends the importance of increasing political literacy, especially amongyoung voters, as well as the development of more ethical and educationalpolitical communication strategies to strengthen the foundations of a healthydemocracy that is oriented towards quality leadership.

Abstract

Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Pengabdian/KKP) is an implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education focusing on community engagement. This program aims to empower students as agents of change through the application of knowledge in the field. This research was conducted in Sukamakmur Village, Tolangohula District, Gorontalo Regency, an area with abundant watermelon agricultural potential. The urgency of this research lies in the need to optimize watermelon processing to increase its economic value, foster awareness of clean and healthy living, and strengthen community cohesion. The KKP activities were carried out for 45 days, encompassing observation, interviews, discussions, and direct training. The demonstration method was employed in the training for processing watermelons into stick and jam products. Additionally, socialization on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS), free health check-ups, and arts and sports activities were conducted. The results show that the community successfully understood and practiced watermelon processing into valuable products. There was an increase in community awareness regarding PHBS, and cohesion was fostered through social activities. The implications of these activities include the realization of economic empowerment, improved health, and strengthened social bonds within the community. For the sustainability of the program, continuous mentorship from the local government and universities is recommended to develop the processed watermelon business and enhance community participation in maintaining health and environmental cleanliness.

Abstract

One way to improve community well-being is by fostering understanding and awareness so that citizens comply with applicable norms and regulations. In this community service program (PKM), participants receive knowledge in three main areas: legal aspects, community empowerment, and welfare. This approach uses a systematic delivery method and interactive question-and-answer sessions so that residents can directly participate. This approach is designed to ensure effective and equitable dissemination of knowledge. After the presentation session is complete, the activity moves to a more in-depth and collaborative stage, namely an interactive question-and-answer session. This session is deliberately designed to encourage active participation from the community as participants, creating a lively discussion atmosphere and allowing for the direct exchange of ideas and clarification of questions. The impact of the activity is evident in the increased understanding, both at the individual and group levels, of the Indonesian legal system and the mechanisms for accessing free legal aid. Furthermore, there is a growing awareness of optimizing village potential, both human and natural resources, with better quality, as well as enthusiasm for starting new businesses that are expected to stimulate local economic growth and improve the welfare of the village community as a whole. With a better understanding of the law and economic potential, it is hoped that the Permata Village community will be more proactive in utilizing local resources and building self-reliance. The success of the interaction and active participation indicates that this type of outreach has a positive long-term impact in encouraging improvements in their quality of life and future well-being.

Abstract

In order to protect occupational safety and health in carrying out work, such protection must be in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. For workers/laborers, with the guarantee of occupational safety protection, it will create a peaceful working atmosphere so that workers/laborers will be able to focus their attention on the work as much as possible without worrying about being hit by a work accident at any time. This study was conducted to determine and analyze the implementation of labor protection policies in Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Province. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, namely research that produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people and observable behavior. The results of the study have shown that the labor protection policy program implemented by the Bone Bolango Regency Government has been running well in accordance with the provisions of applicable laws and regulations. This can be seen from several protection indicators used, namely: 1) Economic protection; 2) Social protection; and 3) Technical protection. Based on the results of the study, it has been shown that these three forms of protection provided can guarantee the welfare of workers and the community who participate in the protection program.
