Abstract

ABSTRACT Arts as a culture product would stay alive if it has a meaning for the supporting of society. Arts in a long journey of history performed with a variety of characteristics and prominent style, either collective creativity product or individual creativity. The development of arts with all about human action bring new arts. One of the factors of the changing and innovation was based on several things, for instance society involvement that definitely would enjoy the products to meet people needs. The art culture was an embodiment of a process, a think, a judgment, and a detail of human that had been changed into a shape that could be felt and exploited. As a part of one product of culture and a shape of art with substantive characteristic, art of an ethnic artwork of M. Chody was an alternative presentation in a market of artworks in Jepara and International market that directly or not were put a value of local culture convention into a corner, it could be called not in a good condition and tend to be disappear into epigonistic situation. To reach all of art passion and could release from that condition, many things could be done step by step until what people did gain a provision as a learning process to a base of work process on. Leaning on one faith that held tightly, and an ability of maintaining all deed brought the artworks of M. Chody among society. Through a view study revealed by Vera L. Zolberg in her book entitled Constructing a Sociology of The Art said that an art object as a social process, through this understanding, an artwork was comprehended on the base of the creator process until it could be defined as an art. In addition, an art itself became an object that had to be reconstructed to show social aspect structure and the process used whatever indicator resources were available. In this point of view, an art was considered as a collective work product among components that composed an artist and his work. This view had also dealings with Howard S. Becker??s it his book of Art World, said that an art as a social construction was comprehended well involving some actors, including some who had social authority possibly for them to emphasize a value into an object. From Zolberg opinion used as place to stand on analysis said that there were scholars found naturally an art social construction, they were an artist, a society, and a cultural institution. This theory was used as a particular approach, besides it used Becker too. Furthermore, it would be applied to review literature for instance an artist, an education institution, a gallery, a group of social of society, and so forth. In addition, another sociological theory or relevant theories were also considered as review of literature. Finally, it can be captured that sociologically an ethnical work of art of M. Chody is as the topic of this study. Keywords : Ethnical work, M.Chody, art, Sociology ABSTRAK Kesenian sebagai produk budaya akan tetap hidup bilamana kesenian itu memiliki makna bagi masyarakat pendukungnya. Kesenian sepanjang perjalanan sejarah tampil dengan berbagai corak dan gaya yang menonjol, baik hasil kreatifitas kolektif maupun ciptaan individual. Perkembangan kesenian dengan segala tindakan manusia mengakibatkan timbulnya kesenian baru. Salah satu faktor yang mendukung terjadinya perubahan dan inovasi didasari oleh beberapa hal, antara lain melibatkan masyarakat, karena masyarakatlah yang menikmati hasil-hasilnya yang berupa produk- produk untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya. Produk-produk budaya tersebut merupakan perwujudan dari suatu proses, pemikiran, pertimbangan, serta perincian manusia yang telah diubah ke dalam wujud yang dapat dirasakan dan dimanfaatkan. Sebagai bagian dari salah satu produk budaya dan wujud kesenian yang bersifat bendawi, seni kriya etnik M. Chody merupakan suguhan alternatif pada pergulatan pasar kekriyaan di Jepara dan pasar internasional yang secara langsung maupun tak langsung dirasakan semakin menyudutkan nilai-nilai konvensi budaya lokal pada kondisi yang kurang menguntungkan, dan dapat dikatakan cenderung tenggelam pada suasana yang epigonistik. Untuk mencapai berbagai cita kesenimanannya dalam melepaskan diri dari kondisi tersebut, berbagai laku dijalani secara bertahap sehingga langkah demi langkah yang dilakukan mendapat pembekalan sebagai proses pembelajaran yang melandasi proses berkaryanya. Bersandar pada suatu keyakinan yang dipegang secara kuat, dan kemampuan mempertahankan semua laku yang dijalani membawa karya-karya M. Chody di tengah-tengah masyarakatnya tersebut. Melalui telaah pandangan yang dikemukakan Vera L. Zolberg, dalam buku Constructing a Sociology of The Art diungkapkan bahwa; objek seni sebagai proses sosial, melalui pengertian ini karya seni dipahami atas dasar proses penciptaannya sehingga suatu karya yang didevinisikan sebagai seni, selanjutnya seni sendiri menjadi sebuah objek yang harus di rekonstruksi untuk menunjukkan aspek struktur sosial dan proses menggunakan sumber-sumber indikator apapun yang tersedia. Pada pandangan ini suatu karya seni dianggap sebagai produk usaha bersama antara komponen-komponen yang membentuk seniman dan karyanya. Pandangan tersebut juga memiliki hubungan dengan pandangan Howard S. Becker., dalam buku Art Worlds, bahwa seni sebagai konstruksi sosial yang bisa dipahami secara baik dengan melibatkan beberapa aktor, termasuk beberapa yang kekuasaan sosialnya memungkinkan mereka untuk menekankan nilai pada objek. Dari pandangan Zolberg tersebut yang digunakan sebagai pijakan analisis adalah pendapatnya yang mengungkapkan bahwa; para sarjana menemukan secara alami kontruksi sosial seni yaitu; seniman, masyarakat, dan institusi budaya. Teori inilah yang dipakai sebagai pendekatan utamanya, disamping juga digunakan pandangan Becker, selanjutnya diaplikasikan untuk menelaah kajian seperti; senimannya, lembaga pendidikan, galeri, kelompok sosial masyarakat dan lain sebagainya. Teori sosiologis yang lain atau teori-teori yang dianggap relevan dalam pembahasan, juga akan ketengahkan sebagai alat kajian. Dengan demikian, dapat diketahui secara sosiologis yang membentuk seni kriya etnik M. Chody seperti topik tulisan ini.

Abstract

ABSTRACT M Chody is one of artist that has a talent in an art-work and furniture, especially in Jepara. His creativity is showed of how to elaborate sculpture art by functional work, particularly in furniture. Art element showed involved in form, function, media style and meaning in each of his creations. Characteristic of an art-work was analyzed through some aspects that are analysis of work form, function adhered in work, its style, and meaning beyond his work. Creativity of M. Chody is showed by his skill of how to elaborate a sculpture art by functional work, particularly in a form of furniture, such as chair by primitive style. Idea which emerges in his work was adopted from an embodiment of taon-taon bird in Asmat symbolized masculinity. Keyword : M. Chody, primitive, art ABSTRAK M Chody merupakan salah satu kriyawan yang memiliki talenta di bidang kriya dan furniture, khususnya di Jepara. Kreativitas M. Chody ditunjukkan dengan kemampuannya dalam mengolaborasi seni patung dengan karya fungsional, terutama bentuk- bentuk mebel. Elemen seni yang ditonjolkan meliputi : bentuk, fungsi, gaya media dan makna dalam setiap karya-karyanya. Mengkaji karakteristik seni kriya karya M. Chody melalui beberapa aspek, diantaranya bahasan mengenai bentuk karyanya, fungsi yang melakat dalam karya, gaya yang terdapat dalam karya, dan makna yang tersirat di dalam karyanya. Kreativitas M. Chody ditunjukkan dengan kemampuannya dalam mengolaborasi seni patung dengan karya fungsional, terutama bentuk- bentuk mebel, seperti kursi tamu dengan gaya primitive. Ide yang tertuang dalam karyanya tersebut diadopsi dari perwujudan burung taon- taon di Asmat yang melambangkan kejantanan. Keyword: M.Chody, primitive art, seni, integral

Abstract

M.Chody putra Jepara, dengan karyanya yang menarik untuk di cermati mempunyai karakteristik seni kriya khususnya di Jepara. Beliau adalah putra daerah yang dilahirkan di Bumi Kartini sebagai sebutan kota Jepara yang terkenal dengan kota ukirnya. Ikhwal munculnya karya–karyanya yang unik menjadikan dirinya seorang kriyawan yang terlihat menonjol dalam hal ide-ide kreatif. Ide kreatif kriya karya M Chody ada berbagai kreasi yang digunakan dalam melandasi penciptaan karya – karyanya. Ide- ide kreatif yang terdapat pada karya cipta M Chody banyak yang diadopsi dari seni primitif Nusantara seperti dari seni primitive Meksiko, Mesir, dan daerah daerah lain. Keuletan dan kejelian dalam menangkap ide untuk menggabungkan seni patung dengan karya fungsional, tampak jelas terutama pada bentuk bentuk mebel, penekanan karya M Chody tertumpu pada tuangan ekspresi jiwa yang berupa ide, yang diwujudkan dalam sebuah karya. Sedang harapan untuk mendapatkan uang hanyalah sebuah dampak dari apresiasi terhadap karya oleh para kolektor atau pembeli. Dengan kata lain kepuasan batin melalui penciptaan karya lebih utama dari pada yang lainnya.

Abstract

This research investigates the impact of legal protection models for Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expressions (TKTCE) on the economic development of communities in Indonesia. It emphasizes the government's role in regulating TKTCE as an integral component of communal intellectual property (CIP) that can be effectively integrated into the national development framework. The study employs a juridical-normative approach, utilizing both primary and secondary legal materials, which were collected through comprehensive literature reviews and analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. This research highlights significant gaps in the current regulatory framework, particularly the inadequacies in international conventions that have led to economic losses for Indonesia. The findings indicate that the government's recent initiatives, including Government Regulation Number 56 of 2022, aim to enhance protective measures for TKTCE, thereby fostering a creative ecosystem that benefits local communities. This research is crucial as it addresses the intersection of legal protection, cultural expression, and economic improvement, providing insights into how effective legal frameworks can empower communities and preserve cultural heritage.

Abstract

Geographically, it is located in a strategic urban area with quite rapid development, both in terms of infrastructure development and population growth. The heterogeneous composition of its population, both in terms of education level, livelihood, and cultural background, provides both potential and challenges in efforts to create an empowered community and actively participate in sustainable environmental management. In general, most residents of Nginden Jangkungan Village work in the informal sector, such as street vendors, rental services, grocery stores, and transportation services. This is exacerbated by the community's limited technical knowledge regarding waste management based on the principles of reduce, reuse, recycle (3R), as well as the absence of an integrated and sustainable empowerment model. The implementation method of this Community Service activity is designed with a participatory and collaborative approach, prioritizing synergy between academics, the village government, community groups, and beneficiary residents. Nginden Jangkungan Village has adequate social and institutional potential to implement a civil society empowerment program in sustainable environmental management. However, this area still faces serious challenges related to the management of household liquid waste, which has not been handled optimally, so it has the potential to pollute groundwater and waterways and cause environmental health impacts.
