Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji fenomena tradisi Bayar Liur yang dipraktikkan oleh masyarakat di Desa Cisasah, Kecamatan Cijaku, Kabupaten Lebak, Provinsi Banten. Tradisi Bayar Liur merupakan bentuk kearifan lokal yang bermanifestasi sebagai ritual atau kompensasi simbolis terkait interaksi sosial, khususnya dalam konteks pemenuhan janji, penyembuhan penyakit psikologis atau fisik ringan yang diyakini akibat "kabuhulan" (gangguan yang disebabkan oleh kata-kata atau keinginan yang tidak terpenuhi), serta sebagai bentuk penebusan atas kegelisahan sosial dalam hubungan tetangga. ​Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan prosedur pelaksanaan tradisi Bayar Liur dan menganalisis makna simbolis serta fungsi sosial yang terkandung di dalamnya bagi keberlangsungan masyarakat agraris di Lebak. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipatif di lapangan, wawancara mendalam dengan tokoh adat, sesepuh desa, dan praktisi tradisi, serta studi dokumentasi terkait sejarah lokal Cijaku. ​Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Bayar Liur bukan sekadar transaksi material, melainkan sebuah mekanisme untuk memulihkan keseimbangan sosial dan spiritual. Secara prosedural, tradisi ini melibatkan pemberian barang-barang tertentu atau sejumlah kecil uang sebagai simbol "pembersihan" atau pencucian dampak negatif dari ucapan yang tidak terpenuhi. Masyarakat Cisasah percaya bahwa kata-kata atau keinginan yang tertunda dapat mendatangkan kesialan jika tidak segera "dibayar" melalui ritual ini. ​Lebih lanjut, tradisi Bayar Liur berfungsi sebagai instrumen resolusi konflik tingkat rendah dan penguat ikatan komunal (solidaritas mekanik). Di tengah arus modernisasi dan pengaruh nilai-nilai eksternal, masyarakat Desa Cisasah tetap mempertahankan tradisi ini sebagai identitas budaya yang membedakan mereka dengan wilayah lain. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa tradisi Bayar Liur mengandung nilai pendidikan moral mengenai pentingnya integritas antara ucapan dan tindakan. Keberadaan tradisi ini membuktikan bahwa komunitas lokal memiliki mekanisme mandiri dalam menjaga harmoni psikis dan sosial tanpa selalu bergantung pada pendekatan medis formal maupun modern.

Abstract

Epistemologi ilmu dalam perspektif Islam mengintegrasikan tiga metode utama: observasi (burhānī), eksperimen (ijbārī), dan rasional-dialektis (jadalī). Berbeda dengan epistemologi modern yang cenderung memisahkan rasionalitas, empiris, dan spiritualitas, Islam memadukan wahyu, akal, dan pengalaman empiris dalam kerangka tauhid. Metode burhānī menekankan observasi sistematis dan argumentasi demonstratif untuk menghasilkan kepastian rasional. Metode ijbārī mengakui eksperimen terkontrol sebagai sarana verifikasi empiris terhadap hukum sebab-akibat alam. Metode jadalī berfungsi sebagai instrumen dialektika dalam diskursus teologis dan intelektual. Kajian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif terhadap kitab-kitab klasik dan kontemporer. Hasil pembahasan menunjukkan bahwa ketiga metode tersebut saling melengkapi dan membentuk fondasi epistemologis yang integratif, sistematis, dan relevan bagi pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan modern. Revitalisasi paradigma ini penting untuk mengatasi dikotomi antara ilmu agama dan ilmu umum serta menjawab tantangan global seperti krisis moral dan perkembangan teknologi.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the concept of tauhid in the Islamic perspective as a foundation for the development of science, analyze the relationship between revelation, reason, and empirical experience in the tauhid paradigm towards the development of science, identify the factors causing the dichotomy between science and tauhid values in the development of modern science, and describe the implementation of tauhid values in the development of science and the practical life of Muslims in the modern era. The method used is library research with a descriptive-analytical approach to literature related to tauhid and Islamic epistemology. The results show that tauhid is the main foundation in the development of Islamic science because it integrates revelation, reason, and empirical experience in a balanced manner. Tauhid is not only theological but also becomes a philosophical, epistemological, and axiological foundation in building holistic knowledge. The thought of Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas emphasizes the concept of ta'dib, while Ismail Raji al-Faruqi affirms the Islamization of science to eliminate the dichotomy between science and religion.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the general understanding of Islamic studies, identify the fields included in the scope of Islamic studies, understand the development of Islamic studies from time to time, explain that Islamic studies not only discuss worship but also social and cultural aspects, and understand the importance of comprehending the scope of Islamic studies in facing modern life. The method used is library research with a descriptive-analytical approach to literature related to Islamic studies. The results show that the scope of Islamic studies is very broad, covering the study of the Qur'an, hadith, Islamic theology, Islamic law, Islamic history and civilization, Islamic philosophy, Sufism, Islamic education, as well as Islamic social and cultural studies. The development of Islamic studies from time to time shows an evolution from classical text-based studies toward interdisciplinary and integrative approaches in the contemporary era. Understanding the scope of Islamic studies is very important in the modern era to face the complexities of globalization, maintain the relevance of Islamic teachings in multicultural societies, and address contemporary social issues.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the meaning of Islamic studies conceptually and terminologically, identify the scope and fields of study within Islamic studies, analyze the urgency of Islamic studies in personal, social, and academic life, explain the main objectives of Islamic studies in forming a comprehensive understanding and practice of Islamic teachings, and understand the role of Islamic studies in facing the dynamics and challenges of globalization. The method used is library research with a descriptive-analytical approach to literature related to Islamic studies. The results show that Islamic studies is a scientific discipline that comprehensively and systematically examines the teachings, sources, history, thought, and practices of Muslim life. The scope of Islamic studies is very broad, covering the Qur'an, hadith, creed (aqidah), jurisprudence (fiqh), Sufism, philosophy, history, and contemporary issues. The urgency of Islamic studies lies in its ability to guide individuals and societies toward a meaningful and civilized life, while wisely and scientifically addressing the dynamics of modern challenges such as globalization, the digital revolution, and social change.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the basic concepts of the anthropological approach in the study of religion, analyze its history and development in religious studies, and examine its relevance in the context of Islamic studies in Indonesia. The method used is library research with a descriptive-analytical approach to literature related to the anthropology of religion. The results show that the anthropological approach understands religious phenomena as an integral part of human culture, not merely as a system of doctrine, but as a living and meaningful cultural expression within a community's real life. The development of this approach has passed through several phases: evolutionism and comparativism (19th century), structural-functionalism (early 20th century), interpretive-symbolic (mid-20th century), to the contemporary phase integrating post-colonial, gender, and globalism perspectives. The main methods used include participant observation, ethnography, symbolic analysis, in-depth interviews, and genealogical and historical analysis. The anthropological approach has high relevance in Islamic studies in Indonesia because it is able to reveal the diversity of Islamic expressions that cannot be understood through a normative-theological approach alone.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the meaning and position of Al-Hadith in Islam, determine the relationship between science and Al-Hadith, and identify and analyze examples of scientific content in Al-Hadith across various fields of science. The method used is library research with a descriptive-analytical approach to literature related to hadith and science. The results show that Al-Hadith occupies the second position after the Qur'an as a source of law and a guide for Muslim life. The relationship between science and Al-Hadith is harmonious and complementary, with modern science increasingly confirming the truth of the statements of the Prophet Muhammad. The scientific content in Al-Hadith is very broad, covering the fields of health (hand washing, quarantine, honey, fasting), environment (planting trees, water cleanliness, animal protection), astronomy and the universe (origin of the universe, eclipses, wind), as well as social and psychology (influence of environment, power of smiling, danger of anger, healthy sleep patterns). This study proves that Islam is a religion that is in harmony with science and encourages its followers to continue thinking, researching, and developing knowledge.

Abstract

This study examines the sociological approach to the study of religion as an effort to understand religion not only as a theological doctrine but also as a dynamic social reality. The sociological perspective emphasizes how religion influences individual and group behavior, and how social conditions shape religious practices and interpretations. This research employs a library research method with a descriptive-analytical approach using relevant academic sources. The findings show that in classical sociology, religion is viewed as a source of social cohesion (Durkheim), a driver of economic change (Weber), and a tool of power legitimation (Marx). Meanwhile, modern sociology sees religion as a transforming phenomenon through secularization, rational choice, and social construction theories. This approach also applies empirical methods, both qualitative and quantitative, to objectively analyze religious phenomena. Thus, the sociological approach provides a comprehensive understanding of religion as both a force of social integration and an agent of change in modern society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze religious thought approaches in Islam through three main epistemological frameworks: Bayani, Irfani, and Burhani. These approaches represent different ways of understanding truth, namely through revealed texts, spiritual experience, and rational reasoning. The method used in this study is library research with a descriptive-qualitative approach, examining various literature related to Islamic epistemology and philosophy of religion. The results show that the Bayani approach plays a role in preserving the authenticity of religious teachings through textual authority, the Irfani approach provides spiritual depth through inner experience, while the Burhani approach offers a rational dimension capable of addressing modern challenges. The integration of these three approaches is essential to produce a comprehensive, balanced, and contextual understanding of religion. Therefore, this study is expected to contribute to the development of Islamic studies methodology that is more open, critical, and relevant to contemporary developments.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of a non-extremist religious attitude, covering both right-wing extremism (radical/rigid) and left-wing extremism (liberal/unrestrained), through the concept of religious moderation or wasathiyah in Islam. The diversity of ethnicities, cultures, and religions in Indonesia is a double-edged sword with the potential to trigger horizontal conflicts if religious understanding becomes rigid and exclusive. The phenomenon of polarization due to extremist movements has threatened social cohesion and national integration. Therefore, this study examines the definition of religious moderation as a just and balanced middle path, as well as the implementation of the wasathiyah concept through three main pillars: tawassut (moderation), i'tidal (proportionality), and tasamuh (tolerance). This implementation is applied in three practical domains: moderation in creed (aqidah), worship (ibadah), and morality (akhlaq). By understanding religious moderation, Muslims are expected to embody Islam as rahmatan lil 'alamin (mercy for all creation), maintain harmony, reject violence in the name of religion, and uphold the fundamental principles of creed and sharia within a pluralistic society.
