Abstract

Mathematics plays a significant role in developing science and technology (also known as IPTEK in Indonesian). However, students' understanding of the contribution of mathematics to the progress of IPTEK still needs to be improved. This study examines the knowledge of senior high school students (also known as SMA in Indonesian) regarding the role of mathematics in developing IPTEK. The method used is a quantitative survey, and questionnaires were distributed to SMA PGRI Cicalengka students. The data obtained were analyzed to determine the level of students' understanding of the relationship between mathematics and its applications in various fields of science, such as physics, biology, and technology. The study results showed that although most students understand mathematics is important in IPTEK, most still need to learn its specific applications in modern technology and scientific innovation. This study suggests the need for more contextual and applicable learning about the role of mathematics in the development of IPTEK so that students can better appreciate and understand the contribution of mathematics in everyday life.

Abstract

COVID-19 is a global health epidemic due to increasing infections and deaths. Indonesia has many confirmed cases with high daily case growth, including the Bandung City and Bandung Regency areas. High mobility between regions can impact the growth of COVID-19 cases. Strategies to prevent the growth of COVID-19 cases need to be carried out by considering the growth of COVID-19 cases in the nearest area. The Vector Autoregression (VAR) model is a forecasting model that can consider geographic impacts. This study aims to model the growth of cases in adjacent areas and have high mobility using the VAR method. The growth of COVID-19 cases in Bandung City and Bandung Regency is integrated into the VAR model to see the impact of each other. The VAR model also considers the impact of case growth in the past on its region's future. Transformation and differencing are carried out on the time series of case growth in each region to achieve time-series stationarity so that the VAR model can be carried out. First-order VAR becomes a model representing the growth of COVID-19 cases in Bandung City and Bandung Regency. The model shows that COVID-19 cases in each region will decrease over time and each region impacts each other. Decreasing cases growth can be caused because people who have been infected and vaccinated have sound immune systems to prevent re-infection. However, prevention still needs to be done to stop the pandemic. Therefore, restrictions on mobility between regions can be used as a strategy to prevent COVID-19 infection.

Abstract

Nilpotent graph of ring integer modulo is one of the graph representations in algebraic structures. This study aims to find out the shape and properties of a nilpotent graph of ring prime numbers modulo which is then generalized to a ring of integers modulo with arbitrary prime power. The method used in this research is a literature study. In the ring of integer modulo, we get the shape of a nilpotent graph as a star graph. Then, the characteristic of a nilpotent graph on a ring integer modulo with arbitrary prime power is that it contains a complete subgraph and contains a number of as a star subgraph.

Abstract

In the field of mathematics, there are many branches of study, especially in graph theory, mathematically a graph is a pair of sets, which consists of a non-empty set whose members are called vertices and a set of distinct unordered pairs called edges. One example of a graph from a group is a coprime graph, where a coprime graph is defined as a graph whose vertices are members of a group and two vertices with different x and y are neighbors if only if (|x|,|y|)=1. In this study, the author discusses the Harmonic Index and Gutman Index of Coprime Graph of Integer Group Modulo n. The method used in this research is a literature review and analysis based on patterns formed from several case studies for the value of n. The results obtained from this study are the coprime graph of the group of integers modulo n has the harmonic index of and the Gutman index for where is prime and is a natural number.

Abstract

Tungro disease poses a serious threat to rice cultivation, as it is caused by a viral infection transmitted by green leafhoppers. This study develops a mathematical model to describe the spread of tungro disease by incorporating plant growth phases and control measures such as roguing. The model divides the system into two subpopulations: plants (susceptible and infected in both vegetative and generative phases) and vectors (susceptible and infected). Dynamic analysis identifies two equilibrium conditions, namely a disease-free state and an endemic state. The disease-free equilibrium is stable when the basic reproduction number is less than one, whereas the endemic equilibrium becomes stable when the reproduction number exceeds one. Sensitivity analysis using the Partial Rank Correlation Coefficient method shows that the infectivity rate and the roguing rate are the most influential parameters affecting disease transmission. An optimal control framework based on Pontryagin’s Maximum Principle is then applied to determine the most effective roguing and vector control strategies. Simulation results indicate that applying roguing during the vegetative phase markedly reduces the number of infected plants and suppresses disease spread. These findings demonstrate that combining dynamic modeling, sensitivity analysis, and optimal control provides an effective and efficient strategy for managing tungro disease in rice crops.

Abstract

This paper investigates several properties of the Cartesian product of two non-coprime graphs associated with finite groups. Specifically, we focus on key numerical invariants, namely the domination number, independence number, and diameter. The non-coprime graph associated with finite group $G$ is constructed with the vertex set $G\setminus \{e\}$ and connects two distinct vertices if and only if their orders are not coprime. Using this construction, we investigate the Cartesian products of non-coprime graphs associated with various types of groups, including nilpotent groups, dihedral groups, and $p$-groups. We derive several new results, including exact expressions for the domination number, independence number, and diameter of these Cartesian products.
